varnp
Many WWII historians here will feel compelled to view this movie in December. Rottentomatoes.com movie site has a 95% want to see of those who have voted which is high for a non-fiction docudrama. Over all, the critic reception for what they know is an inspirational film is positive. More so than normal. Badger73
The pre-adolescent Zamperini was a criminal punk who should have wound up in juvenile prison but for the the guidance of his older brother. He was a flawed youth who turned into a still imperfect but remarkable man. All gushing aside, Laura Hillenbrand's book about him is a well written biography and makes for very good reading.
Holman
Judging from the pics at the link, the movie will feature ahistorically good POW hair.
Childress
Are we in the midst of a glut of WW2 internment camp/horror flics? Will the Japanese lawyer up and sue for libel? The Railway Man came out in 2013. I saw it last night. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2058107/?ref_=nv_sr_1 Not bad, but all the POWS were clean shaven for the duration of the movie. On the other hand, the British internees did appear appropriately emaciated. Makes one curious to read the casting calls for extras.
