I've worked with scenario editors for nine different games while preparing scenarios to go with as many games for publication. I've never had an easier one to use. Of course, a scenario requires a lot of testing and tweaking to put a finely honed edge on it. That will come with experience. River crossings, now that is another thing entirely. Easily done.
