What a great and heartwarming story. Shall have to see whether I can find more on the battle. Also, I note there isn't a word about any sort of combat medal. Perhaps the king will pin one or more on him?

Regards,

John Kettler

P.S.

Am having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that to most people, the Vietnam War vets are well up in their years already.

P.P.S.

While living in Colorado Springs, I had the distinct pleasure of helping two B-17 combat vets aboard (dangerous steps) a restored, flying B-17G, whose name I don't recall. I got kind of choked up watching their reactions as old memories were rekindled. They also got special access to the cockpit, which was off limits to mere mortals!
