Sublime
Any particularly good websites, documentaries, or books on the subject anyone recommends? This is in reference to the WW1 battle. Also interested in the Battle of the Marne (1914) Thanks!
Michael Emrys
This Wiki article looks pretty good. BTW, SPI produced a good boardgame on each of those, the Marne game sometime in the early '70s and Tannenberg in 1978. If you can get your hands on either one, they are fun. Sublime
Yeah I already read the Wiki article. I'm more academically interested right now for a class. I read both Wiki articles, and I'm going to start a book on the Marne in a day or two. Seems ok as a book. I just wanted to delve a little deeper, and I don't have a book handy for Tannenberg so..
JonS
Citino's "The German Way of War" and "Quest for Decisive Victory" both cover the Tannenberg campaign in some detail, although neither book is narrative history. Citino says "the preemminent book on the Tannenberg Campaign is Dennis Showalter Tannenberg: Clash of Empires (Hamden, Conn.: Archon, 1991)." Van Creveld "Supplying War" discusses the logistics involved in the Marne Campaign in 1914 in quite a lot of detail. I'm more academically interested right now for a class. Your university library should provide you access to JSTOR and other similar repositories. Doing a search for 'Tannenberg 1914' should throw up a number of useful journal articles.
