Sublime
Firstly - Pbeming 'Monty's Butchers' and I gotta hand it to the scenario designer, its fantastic. Well made, believable map and force mixes, absolutely action packed carnage. I highly recommend it! Second - all my usage of the cromwell so far has sucked in game. this is unrelated to my comments above btw. Maybe Im using them wrong, though I have fairly good results with other allied armor. Interested in tips, and also how did they do IRL? What tactics were used with them? their trump seems to be speed, thats about it.... Also it came up talking to Winkelried that churchills and cromwells were used in korea. I'd be interested in more about this, especially how they stacked up against T34/85s..?

When it is all over let us now what you thought about the balance. And by that I mean did both players *feel* the had a chance to win according to the objectives. Moving fast to the enemy's flank. The do not withstand as much punishment as a Sherman (that says a lot I know). I have used them in an urban environment to zip around blocks and come up on the enemy from the side / behind. Same in a forested situation where they flanked and disabled (which was as good as destroying) a Tiger. If the enemy gets their guns on them they do not last long but if you keep them moving they can buzz around like flies and be really irritating.
Frankster65
Is this scenario a default one which came with the game or is it in the Repository?
Sublime
Yeah I was flabbergasted by their low survivability. It is spot on they take less than a sherman, and that isnt much unfortunately. It's not a stock AFAIK, I believe it's third party. in fact im 99% sure it is

When it is all over let us now what you thought about the balance. And by that I mean did both players *feel* the had a chance to win according to the objectives. Up to now it feels pretty much ok on the UK side - lots of Pz IV smoking - naturally a few Shermans and Churchills too ... We're at minute 56. My attack currently stalled +/- at the railway line (although my recon has advanced quite far), i am still pulling reinforcements forward. I'll give you some feedback at the end :-) still optimistic ...

ThePhantom
Hey guys, I made that scenario. Great to hear it`s being enjoyed. I can`t wait to read the battle results and your thoughts.
John Kettler
Sublime, Cromwells are Cruiser Tanks, the successors to the Crusaders of the Western Desert. As such, they are something like JasonC's "eggshells with hammers," but it's not much of a hammer, since it's the same 75mm as the pre 76mm Shermans. The armor's way better than a Marder, though, so they're much harder eggs. What they are, though, are fast and low, making them harder to hit. There were a few early Cromwells with 6 pr guns, but the main types had the 75mm, specifically because it was dual purpose. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromwell_tank Regards, John Kettler
