John Kettler
JonS, A real pity your parents had no UNDO command after you were conceived! Sublime, Congratulations on your sterling academic performance! I thought what was said in the TotalWar thread, though unsourced, was useful as far as it went, but that, save for the gap represented by his GD service, I did pretty well on finding information on a most obscure man. Wodin, It's easy to be dismissive when YOU haven't done the work; haven't spent the hours, searched under multiple keywords and worked nearly 50 pages down in Google. I do, though, give you full marks for your clever jibe. I wish I could find that wonderful, twisted list someone posted on the Forum of notional British warship names, such as H.M.S. Incontinence. Meanwhile, I give you, and this one's real... Sublime
So speaking of DBP if you read any account mentioning B26s remember they're not B26s like we know them. They're American A26's re designated by the French...
John Kettler
Sublime, Roger that last. That same nomenclature problem drove me nuts when reading about the Bay of Pigs, too. Now, I've got it properly sorted out. Douglas A-26 Invader renamed a B-26, creating confusion with the Martin B-26 Marauder. Wiki's explicit on the matter, stating the name was changed in 1948. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-26_Invader It looks like this, is flyable and is at the nearby aviation museum where my brother volunteers--and has flown in some great warbirds as a result! http://www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com/index.php/component/content/article/54 Regards, John Kettler
