4th Bn 66th Reg
Am I right to assume that if you don't initial care about Japanese carriers being upgraded for naval research, that this would not effect them attacking land based targets? The strength of a AC doesn't really matter when attacking land targets? So if an AC strength 5 with an airwing strength of 10 is not less powerful on the attack as an AC with a naval strength of 10 and airwing of 10? Am I right in this assumption? Amadeus
In case of attacking land Targets yes. But when attacking naval vessels you will need both, naval and air strength.
crispy131313
Actually if the Carrier is strength 5 it will have lower moral and readiness and attacks will not be as strong.
SeaMonkey
Right on crispy! The effectiveness of any unit is greatly dependent upon high percentages of M & R, and don't forget the experience factor. Even greater than research upgrades, these parameters are the key to successful attacks and defense.
mcaryf1
The trouble is if you reinforce a carrier's ship element I think it also depresses the experience of the air component as there is only one rating. This is not entirely logical but I suppose harder to implement. I usually allocate a higher starting experience rating to CV units on the basis that they are likely to lose it faster. One way for IJN CV's to gain experience is to attack weak Chinese land units where there is little likelihood of losses to either the ship or air element.
