Pak40
"Regardless, if you who have been playtesting are able to compare the feel of playing with the Americans, British, and Germans, do the rules included (maybe reaction times for artillery, quality and quantity of armor support, typical morale for your infantry units (green, average, experienced, elite, etc),reaction times to orders, etc) do the different armies yield a different feeling when playing them (as SL most definitely did), or do you end up feeling like you are just playing a different colored set of icons (as EF/WF often do)?" I'm sure the British feel very different from the Americans. Bigtime software actually modeled 'tea time' in it's battles. For instance, instead of assaulting a German stronghold, British units may instantly set up a pot of boiling water, unfold a small table, and have tea and biscuits
Pixman
Pak40, i believe the proper terminology is "tea and scones". Ooops, it's about that time isn't it? Cheerio mates, I'm out. ------------------ The enchanter may confuse the outcome, but the effort remains sublime.
Fionn
Yes, for a British commander one can choose to attack at night, during the middle of day or at dawn or dusk. All these are available to all nations BUT for the british there is the special tea-time assault. Of course this assault is merely a trick to catch out players who aren't truly role-playing. if you choose to attack at tea-time your officers and men mutiny and tar and feather you. ------------------ ___________ Fionn Kelly Manager of Historical Research, The Gamers Net - Gaming for Gamers

I would've gladly been one of those stupid people! , my dumb luck... ------------------ Sgt. Rock Says " War is Hell, but games are fun "
Guest Big Time Software
Bamse, believe it We have worked hard on getting units to use their weapons realsitically. Charles and I have been tweaking this stuff for almost ONE YEAR on our own and about 3 months with Martin and Fionn. Actually, we have a case right now where units are TOO smart about not being able to cause harm. A bazooka team moved up to a concrete pillbox and figured it had a really crappy chance of killing it, so it started firing at a wooden bunker further away because it could kill that. Problem was the player wanted to button up the pillbox, not take out the bunker. Easy to fix thankfully BenSp, yeah there is certainly going to be a third type. One of the problems with making the most advanced game of its time is that people expect it to be totally realistic (not something we are claiming at all). CC is the best example of this. When it came out it was the most realistic squad level computer game in town, and people slammed it for all the things it didn't do instead of what it did do. CM will likely get hits for the same reason. However, we have taken great pains to make sure that the basic stuff is as good as possible and that no stupid junk like tanks spinning for the heck of it out in the open Steve

guachi
My friend and I wrote a story back in seventh grade where, at one point during a battle, the combatants stopped for tea time. But when they were done with tea time they couldn't go back to fighting because they were so full of tea. Instead, they all had to walk around with their legs crossed to try and keep from wetting their pants. When you are in seventh grade this kind of stuff is really funny Jason
Doug Beman
Hey, I'm almost 24 and that's pretty funny. I think it would have made a hell of a Monty Python skit. DjB
