Templer
Why must both be installed - SCGC and SCGCG? In our enthusiasm for SCTGW I now acquired also SCGCG. I am surprised about the fact that SCGC must be installed in addition to the expansion SCGCG. Is this really so? If I uninstall the main program SCGC, SCGCG want start! Why this solution was chosen? Don't this "double" installing take unnecessarily additional memory on my HD? I'm not an expert. So I feel this solution, from my amateur understanding, as nonsense!
Schrullenhaft
The 'Gold' edition is seen as an EXPANSION to the original game and was sold for a bit less that a 'full' game. Thus it was required to have an installed and licensed copy of the 'standard' edition in order to run the 'gold' edition. To my knowledge the 'gold' edition does NOT directly use any of the 'standard' edition files (executables or resources), but does require its presence in order to run. electricsux
That is not true. When I saw that the gold edition had it's own files, I deleted the standard version.
Moon
You can delete the base game, but you need to have an active license for it in order to play the Gold expansion (your license state survives deleting/uninstalling).
