gibsonm
Hi, Has anyone on the list got one of these yet? I'm wondering if the 16Mb of VRAM improves the "visual experience"? I'm thinking about gutting my original Ti PB as the combo drive (CD-RW, DVD) needs a new motherboard (with the VRAM increased from 8 to 16) and a major factor is whether the new setup runs better. I'm also thinking of the upgrade to position myself for CMBB. (Its scary when a game becomes a deciding factor in whether your work tools are still good enough).
Jarmo
No, I don't have the new powerbook. Nevertheless, the VRAM increase will help if you want to mod your CM. 8 megs just isn't enough for high res stuff. But if you're happy with the stock graphics, the added VRAM won't do much. Hmm.. except.. was the 8 meg version a rage 128 based thing? I'm not sure. But if it was, the new one (a radeon) will be much better. Check what the system profiler (apple menu) says about the video. Gyrene
Running CM on a new Ti PB should be roughly similar to running CM on a 16mb Rage 128 Pro card, and that's not too bad. In any case it'll be much better than what I started playing CM with - A Rev D 333mhz iMac with the lovely 6mb Rage C card. The new iMac will be a nice CM machine, aside from the odd GeForce glitch.
