Wartime

A friend of mine is going to reinstall CMBN after a number of years. I currently have 4.03 installed. If he were to fully install 4.04, are the games files compatible or would I also have to update to 4.04? After reading all of above, I'm hesitant to update further. I also have a series of games in play and would rather not lose them and start over. Thanks for any help! Disregard. I did a search and found they are not compatible AND I can install both versions separately and play either.

Thanks NEA!! Tonight I just got CMBN up and running with the help of Redwolf and staff. Runs great, very smooth panning. It is CM2 so that's one good reason why. I'll adjust the Windows Display and Nvidia settings as suggested for a trial. For $6 I just might download the GOG version, play in Win10 as it allows, and see if the clunkiness is a CM1 issue or my newer system issue. It would be nice not needing the CD's for license! Thanks Redwolf! I wasn't sure exactly what was meant so I dropped a trouble ticket: Redwolf is correct. Use the download link in your 4.0 Upgrade Big Bundle purchase. Then use the Activate New Products utility in the game's main directory folder and enter your 3.0 and 4.0 keys. Also use that to enter Commonwealth and Vehicle Pack keys. Do not enter your original Game Engine 1 or 2.0 Upgrade keys. I just deleted all I had reinstalled and started over with the 4.0 upgrade. Then added in Ugrade 3.0, 4.0, Commonwealth, Market Garden and Vehicle Pack. I had to end and restart the Activate New Products for each add-on. Works great! It applied the Compatibility adjustments I tried using before but is working perfectly so I think I'll leave it as is. Thanks again!

It's been a few years since playing and a couple of computer rebuilds. I reinstalled CMBN plus Commonwealth, Vehicle Pack and Version 4 in my Win10 system. Set compatibility mode to Windows 8, run as Admin and eliminated high DPI scaling behavior. On game start pop up window says to Activate Version 4. Upon clicking Activate Products I get another Error: UI not found. Please check that you have the proper UI resource files. The application will be terminated. What should I fix now? Thank you for any advice.

It's been over 5 years and a couple of computer rebuilds since I played CM games. Just reinstalled and went through the pain of making them work in a Win10 environment. Thanks to this forum I found the major fix was to right click on app, go to Properties then Compatibility and used Run by Admin, Set mode to Windows 7 and Override high DPI scaling. I have two monitors, one a 4k and one a HD. When I start the game the first time (deleted pref file) I don't have many options for resolution on HD monitor, mainly 1280 x 1024 at various refresh rates: 120, 119, 100, 75 and 60Hz. If I skip 60Hz, game freezes. I use 1280x1024 at 120Hz and the game runs. Now that it's running my gripe is with Panning. It does so in a clunky way, not smooth at all. It's playable but a bit annoying. I don't remember if this is standard fair or something to do with newer systems running in compatibility mode?? Maybe there is a fix for this too??
