  1. With ongoing reliability issues and lessons from the War in Ukrain, Germany will ditch its Tiger Attack Helicopters in favour of new solutions like artillery deployed loitering munitions, while France and Spain will upgrade their Tiger's. As interim solution the Bundeswehr will acquire the H145M utility helicopter.
  2. In my small, little, perfect world that is what i would hope for. A factual and objective investigation after the dust has settled but i am convinced that this attack will brush away the opposition to Netanyahu and the 2023 judicial reform.
  3. I think the overwhelming majority participating in this discussion is not interested in superficial bull**** like the Stab-in-the-back myth. Lets focus on facts backed by evidence instead.
  4. I'm a bit puzzled by the scale of the attack and can't believe that in this day and age preparations for such action were not noticed by Israels intelligence services.
  5. As far as i understand it, the problem could be caused by the armor layout and not the capability to carry more weight. The currently delivered Leopards have the late box type turret. It consists of an outer and inner thin steel plate with a filling of air or some kind of plastic. Source of the images: https://ndb51.wordpress.com/2019/08/12/thu-vi-xem-xe-tang-leopard-1a3-trong-tinh-trang-bi-cat-doc/ My guess is that the outer steel plate can't withstand the energy produced by the explosion of the ERA Brick. The Canadians demonstrated that the Leopard 1 can handle a lot of weight by adding MEXAS NERA add-on armor kits while deployed to Kosovo and MEXAS + mine plows or dozer blades while operating in Afghanistan.
  6. Russian State TV clown show reporting about the meeting of 2 neurotics in the east, starved of toilette bowls and washing machines. Also featured a clueless Shoigu.
  7. There is a second video form the press briefing. Sadly only auto generated subtitles are available. Made a short recap. - German-French brigade is currently providing most of the instructors for the training hub north with Pz.Btl. 203 providing tank specific training - Danish trainers had the most recent knowledge of the Leo1 - German and Dutch trainers had to reacquire their knowledge as the Leo1 was phased out earlier than in Denmark - the press asked if Ukrainians would benefit from the delivery of such a old tank and Marlow repeats all the things that were discussed in this thread basically the Leo1a5 is a 2a4 with thin armor compared to the Russian stuff the tank is able to reverse , has a thermal imager, fully stabilized main gun and better crew ergonomics. - until the end of May 15000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained - goal to train soldiers was raised to 30000 by the end of November 2024 but Gen Marlow is sure they will hit the mark much earlier Looking at the AMX 10RC I'm under the impression the Ukrainians know how to employ Stug's on steroids. As @holoween and the @The_Capt said on Bundeswehr vehicles they are for camouflage reasons, mostly made of rubber or some sort of natural fiber like burlap.
  8. Some information on the Leopard 1 training in Germany. - done by Danish, Dutch and German instructors - basic course lasts 6 weeks with 6 days of training per week and 12 hours of training per day - its the fifth rotation in its fifth week of training - there were multiple gunnery runs this day. within these runs multiple states of equipment failure where simulated e.g. aiming with and without stabilization or worst case hand crank everything using the backup optical sight and try to score a hit while moving slowly - Ukrainians stick to 3 tanks per platoon https://www.youtube.com/embed/NdpHjoPkS8M English subtitles are available
  9. At least there is some hope that the Russians half assed the developement of the KA 52 too.
  10. on a side note: Germany alocated funds for 3 Israeli made Arrow missile defense systems and 6 IRIS-T SLM systems. The first Arrow system should be ready by 2025. https://www.timesofisrael.com/germany-okays-4-3-billion-purchase-of-israels-arrow-3-anti-missile-system/
  11. I've read that the column was struck behind the frontline while on the move. Is Russia employing FASCAM? If so, a fire mission in front of the column combined with a drone observing, airsupport and an artillery barrage would be a nasty surprise. PS: Image to raise moral
  12. More evidence that Röpcke's self perception as a military expert and his actual knowledge of military things don't really fit together. Maybe we should donate a copy of CM:SF2 to him. If we want him to have a mental breakdown within the first 5 minutes playing the game lets chose CM:BS
  13. So far this is another desperate attempt of the Russian propaganda machine trying to convince the audience with wonky, low res clips stitched together that Ukraine is failing. There are lots of missing frames in between the cuts.
  14. Haven't seen the video in here, so for the sake of comprehensiveness i present a Russian chopper crew committing war crimes. Maybe John Deer has a line of harvesters called Leopard? The last strike in the Video is particularly fishy, as the flight time is too short and the boom too big. Looks like they attacked another piece of innocent Ukrainian soil just like the terminator fighting hords of Ukrainian trees some time ago. https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1666089176633327620/pu/vid/848x464/IWoTvdGyAzT3uZKq.mp4?tag=12
  15. Looks like the tank with the cope cage was destroyed by infantry with 2 rpg's at the edge of treeline. Arround 00:33-00:34 tow distinct smoke plumes can be seen. The tank cooks off instantly.
  16. In 1994 the Danish were the first to use the Leopard 1 in combat in Bosnia vs Bosnian Serbs. The Danish acquired Leo 1A3 with welded turrets in 1976 and upgraded them to 1A5DK in the early 1990's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bøllebank Fast forward to 2023 and it looks like Operation Bully Bashing II is on the way. Lets hope for the Mouse to feast on another Cat German and Danish instructors training Ukrainian Crews in Germany. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5uVIPFpTC4
  17. At fist they were seen on rail cars and as of now, according to Oryx website, 73 T-62's have been lost in Ukraine. I was under the impression that the Russians scraped their T54 and T55 tanks long ago. Looks like the secret purpose of the patriot parks was uncovered. Having all this old stuff ready and serviced regularly in case things go south. While watching the videos again, i noticed that the orientation of the tanks differ from video to video. Maybe multiple trainloads are heading to the front line.
  18. Looks like the plot thickens. This train has been spotted multiple times. https://old.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/11yfbh9/alleged_video_showing_t5455s_going_towards_ukraine/ Time to send every running Leopard 1 to Ukraine and have a delayed early Cold War gone hot 60 years later @The_Capt Do you know what happened to the decommissioned Canadian Leopard 1 tanks?
  19. Not necessarily. The early T-72's came without smoke launchers. This would fit the assumption that the Russian reserve of T-72 tanks is almost depleted. Here is an early T-72 without smoke launchers.
  20. In my opinion this is some kind of early T-72 without ERA stuck in reverse gear. The bore evacuators on both T-62 and T-72 tanks are roughly at the same spot. The presence of what looks to be a luna search light on the right hand side of the barrel would support my assumption as it sits in the distinctive spot since the introduction of the T-64. The gunner moved the turret to the 7 or 8 o'clock posotion propably to allow the driver to escape. Sideskirts and the sudden violent cock of scheme are also more in line with a T-72. I've upressed a screencapture with Photoshop.
  21. German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius visits Panzerbattalion 203 and gets a display of the Leo's capability's . The unit will hand over 14 Leopard 2a6 to Ukraine. In his speech he mentions, that currently not all the necessary tanks to equip 2 battalions have been donated yet. The negotiations on further tanks are ongoing. Concerning the replacement of the 14 tanks he says that these should be ordered asap and he doesn't care where the money is coming from. English subtitles are available
  22. The terminator is back to fight another propagandabattle vs nothing. For a vehicle that entered service in 2021 it looks pretty rusty and worn-out. https://old.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/10nkrp5/operation_of_a_russian_tank_support_fighting/
  23. That click must have been the european nations releasing their leoprads so you guys can release them into CM:CW?
  24. In 1999 the Bundeswehr had a Reserve Formation on Standby at the Bergen Training Range equipped with Leopard 1's because the commanders feared that the Leo2 would be too heavy for the bridges in Kosovo.
  25. If that is true the easiest way for the manufactures would be to release an official statement to safe his reputation and blame the Bundeswehr for the failed maintenance. That didn't happen so i guess both are to blame and cable fire sounds more like a serious design flaw.
