RescueToaster got a reaction from Pr0Gam3rDude69 in Steam release
I didn't suggest that it was coming this or next week. The "maybe" qualifier and "fingers crossed" should have made that pretty clear. My point was that the possibility exists, unless they have said otherwise somewhere and I've missed it. There's a week of March left, and with all things quiet on the Battlefront, we know that means that they are busy at work putting in 60+ hours a week. This feeling, the quiet before the storm, is very reminiscent of CMCW the week or so before its release.
So, why would/should we not expect it to potentially release next week? What justification do you have for that? And I think the hope was already in you, so don't blame that on me
Edit: Went to make dinner, came back and read what I wrote and.. oof this sounds like I'm upset. Please read this with a healthy level of playfulness and sarcasm.

Today I have re-posted all of the scenarios in my series "The 82nd Airborne in Normandy" and added the final three: "DeGlopper's Medal of Honor", "Le Motey", and "Amfreville - Strike Two!". The re-posting was necessitated by a renumbering of a portion of the series to place DeGlopper in the correct sequence and because I edited all the scenario text files to correct  spelling, grammar and numbering errors as well as revising a few of the Special Rules.

Unless stated otherwise in the Special Rules included with some of my scenarios, players should not pre-plot mortar or artillery fire on turn one when playing any of the scenarios.

This ends my 82nd Abn. series which has focused primarily on the fight to secure the La Fiere causeway and the town of Amfreville with a sidebar to the south to cover Lt. Col. Shanley's stand on Hill 30. There were equally important  actions going on east of the Merdert to secure St. Mere Eglise and hold it against German counter-attacks and the securing of the eastern end of the Chef-du-Point bridges and causeway. At this point I am retiring from scenario and map creation to redirect my time to completing modding an unfinished plastic model (Red Knight of Vienna), painting a few hundred 15mm samurai (I should life so long), playing some of my other favourite computer games - Silent Hunter III (modded), Samurai 2 Total War (modded), Scourge of War Waterloo (modded), Wings of Flanders Fields Between Heaven and Hell, CMFB, CMRT, CMFI ... too many and too little time left.. I may or may not get around to finishing reskinning the CMBN modular buildings and barns to look more Dutch.

My backing off from modding CMBN does not mean that I am backing off from playing what has become my favourite game. Indeed, I would be very pleased if any of you would play any of the H2H scenarios which I have created.
    Happy gaming all.

Playing the 'Joint Venture' scenario by @afreu alongside the "All in One"...
... I originally thought this was a scenario by @Combatintman however a google search made me aware of my error (they have a very similiar briefing style though).
It was great fun, a really brutal scenario.
I am slowly implementing a "rudimentary vehicle weathering" technique for the CMSF2 vehicles... so you can expect an eventual update to the pack later this year.

I said I'd make an illustrated guide, and I did!  Hopefully it helps some of those who were asking me about it
Step Zero is to download the Reshade distribution at the bottom of the page here: https://reshade.me/
Steps 1 through 8 are in my guide here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1LG9Og33Re95sPx4KyKtk98DjyUyK-Qcn
And my preset is here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dQ5zgLkyS5RRI559yJG929QFs2YqnRdb
Hopefully the archive works, I didn't really do extensive testing on it.

I've only been on the forums for about a year now, so I can't really say.. but, I'd guess it happens too often to count!  I'm just going off of what BFCElvis said about a month ago (May 9th), though. That they are shooting for a June release followed sometime later with the new module.
To be honest, I don't really mind when it releases on Steam because I plan to buy it on Batlefront. I'm just kind of swept up in everyone else's release window excitement 😁

The last we've heard was that they are shooting for a June release, so I'd guess (and I also hope) it will be on or around the 78th anniversary of D-Day

Valid point. I suppose I was triggered by the reference to the rudeness by T*****. My apologies to you @purpheart23. I do like these wish list threads actually. OK I like the ideas, not the frequent use of passive aggressive phrasing that shows up in a variety of posts but honestly that should be water of a ducks back - so - I have work to do.

A "Wait in Ambush, Shoot, then Displace to Another Location" order would be very helpful for snipers, and any unit waiting to ambush something.
A complete revamp of the "Acquire" process so that any unit could exchange weapons and ammo with any adjacent unit - up to a reasonable amount of course and with a time delay - like when one sets up a crew weapon.  (ie: Do away with the clickfest "Split into Teams, Mount Vehicle, Acquire, Dismount and Rejoin Original Squad" process.)
A "Scout Order" - one can simply click on a target location and the scout team uses an AI routine to carefully scout towards it while maintaining self-preservation.  (Currently, scouting is a virtual suicide mission - at least in WEGO.)

You will be happy to know that there are mods that adjust sound to what you like and also that create different % of transparency.
Tanks a Lot made a semi transparent trees mod for CMRT and Rocket Man did translucent trees for CMFI.  Not sure if they also work for other titles.  There are many sound mods to choose from.

There are no distant shot sound .wav's... which is what I wished for.
There are no "heavy bullet zip" sound .wav's ... which is what I wished for.
The popularity of the semi-transparent tree mods is what leads me to suggest it'd be a good idea to integrate it into CM via Alt-T... which, again, is what I wished for.

"Follow" command that works in terrain or on roads, and duplicates the waypoints for each following unit so adjustments can be made.

    1. Shoot n' Scoot command
    2. Pre-configurable fallback point to be used when a unit retreats or combined with Shoot n' Scoot
    3. UI element or command that lets you disable special weapons like ATGM's on a BMP or Panzerfausts in a Grenadier squad

Actually, a different camera system. Camera 1 First Person shooter +driver's position. Camera 2, AFV Turret Camera3 Open. Climb up the stairs with the mouse wheel. Camera 5-9 Actual maps or screen displays. Stops borg spotting.

@Bil Hardenberger I ran Miles through your Squad Attack scenario:

I was impressed by both his ability to estimate both the enemy disposition, as well as failing to do anything about that (whilst providing a good learning opportunity along the way).

Considdering that these 'packs' takes quite a long time to design...I'm pretty sure that most of us would accept loosing a few hours of developing time in orders to get a nice bone or two every now and then...😋

I don't think it'll be more cores, though happy to be proved wrong. I reckon more VRAM and removing some arcane limits imposed to make sure that game ran on circa 2011 PCs. Heck just letting me cache more graphics into VRAM would help, I think my web browsers are a heavier load on my GPU than CM!

    Hi
I read a guide on Steam from a player named "randomhan" for improving your FPS in Combat Mission BS, i think it works for any of the CM games. It worked for me in BS and SF2, now i can run big maps with nice FPS and few FPS spikes/dips.

    I use following settings.

    value in "dispaly size.txt" -  4096 2160 144
    3D Model quality -  Improved
    Texture quality - Best

I did copy the guide from steam Guides and all creds to "randomhan"
    -----BEFORE YOU TRY THIS OUT------
This only applies to you if you have horsepower to spare in your GPU
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
basically this games can only utilize 32bit ram & like one or two cores of CPU. Its prehistoric.
    However....VRAM? & GPU no limits.
BUT, they put a limiter on this in order to protect your PC from blowing up.
So naturally, the game 'thinks' your beefy monstrosity NASA Spec PC (in like 04 standards)
just can't handle the intense operation of allocating 4-5GB of graphics RAM
    To cut to the case,
    before trying this out
    - vsync: off
    - 3D model quality: fast -> uses CPU
    - 3D model texture: Best -> VRAM is not the bottle neck
    - Shaders : OFF -> uses CPU, if you miss the shaders just use Reshade.
-VERY IMPORTANT!: turn off in-game shadows / shaders with: ALT + W . the game engine can't handle shadow rendering.
-> seems to use CPU for shadows.
    now for the fun part:
    (1) find or make a "dispaly size.txt" file in your steam\steamapps\common\Combat Mission Black Sea folder
    (2) open it, put in some crazy value like: " 7680 4320 144 " (8k) or " 4096 2160 144 "(4k)
    - 3 numerical value separated by space bar : horizontal screen resolution (space) vertical screen resolution (space) refresh rate
    (4) if your graphics card can run modern AAA titles just go nuts with 7680 4320 60
    - NEVER-EVER lower your screen resolution b/c the UI shrinking. It's counter- intuitive but you gotta increase the resolution!
    (5) by some black wizardry, the game is forced to load all the textures, and doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥ out on allocating more v-ram
    (6) ???
    (7) = more FPS/ Much better graphics
My computer with Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB RAM, Radeon TX 6700XT was running like 15-30 FPS before.
    Choppy as Hell.
with this optimization? While running in 8K(!) now the FPS never goes below 45. with like 30 visual enhancement mods.
won't lie: Stil a bit of stuttering exists while in pre-deployment phase and zooming through the battlefield.
BUT consider this: amazing 8K graphics compared to Un-optimized settings + much better FPS
one drawback: it takes like 10min to start a battle. but hey ho, willing to make a sacrifice.

    Hope this helps!
