  1. I'll try to figure it out with trial and error, removing a mod every day until I can find the culprit. I'll be sure to post back when I do find out what the cause is By the way, thank you for your mod collections - they are greatly appreciated!
  2. Hey @37mm - I couldn't think of or find a better place to ask this, but I use your all-in-one packs for the CMSF2 / CMBS. In CMBS I noticed that when I have infantry inside buildings, the windows remain solid and opaque. I miss not being able to see out them! Is there a certain mod that's doing this that I could remove? I initially thought it might be kieme's modular building HD mod, but when I removed that the issue still remains. I'm stumped!
  3. Thanks for the update! I'll have to take down the celebration balloons, put the party poppers away and hide the massive stash of celebratory booze!
  4. I've only been on the forums for about a year now, so I can't really say.. but, I'd guess it happens too often to count! I'm just going off of what BFCElvis said about a month ago (May 9th), though. That they are shooting for a June release followed sometime later with the new module. To be honest, I don't really mind when it releases on Steam because I plan to buy it on Batlefront. I'm just kind of swept up in everyone else's release window excitement
  5. The last we've heard was that they are shooting for a June release, so I'd guess (and I also hope) it will be on or around the 78th anniversary of D-Day
  6. Some updates on the last page in that post. Looks like a tournament feature is cause of the holdup. Elvis guessed late April, though there's potential for it not being until May or even June. Well, this gives me even more time to finish up my current campaigns
  7. I think it's (at least partially) because you expect to lose a lot of men in the WW2 titles, while you (should) try to preserve most of your forces in the modern titles. A lot of the campaign missions in the modern games have goals to not lose more than 15-20% of your force - my nerves are a bit frayed after playing through the SF2 and BS US campaigns over the last few months as a mediocre player stressing about every soldier lost
  8. I didn't suggest that it was coming this or next week. The "maybe" qualifier and "fingers crossed" should have made that pretty clear. My point was that the possibility exists, unless they have said otherwise somewhere and I've missed it. There's a week of March left, and with all things quiet on the Battlefront, we know that means that they are busy at work putting in 60+ hours a week. This feeling, the quiet before the storm, is very reminiscent of CMCW the week or so before its release. So, why would/should we not expect it to potentially release next week? What justification do you have for that? And I think the hope was already in you, so don't blame that on me Edit: Went to make dinner, came back and read what I wrote and.. oof this sounds like I'm upset. Please read this with a healthy level of playfulness and sarcasm.
  9. If there haven't been any updates then you can (maybe) expect that it's still on schedule for either this or next week! Fingers crossed If you really can't wait, you can buy the game on Battlefront and get your Steam key later, and just add the game as a non-Steam game for the time being!
  10. Yea, "cute"... Until you see this! Sorry for the potential derailment.
  11. I'm currently on the 5th US mission in Black Sea, and have noticed a lot of my M1A2's shots getting caught on what appears to be invisible tree trunks or canopy when trying to blast sneaky Russian armor! So in addition to it being very difficult to spot enemies, the trees are on their side! The bastages.. Makes me wish there was some sort of foliage clearing shrapnel round to wipe out all greenery better than the Leveler in Ferngully! TL;DR: DEATH TO TREES!
  12. Sorry to necro an almost year old thread, but when digging through the forums for a mod I saw this and had to pop my head in and see if I could find something new (I'm a bit of an audiophile). Regarding HQS: f people are interested, HQS is up to 5.0 now and seems to be getting updated somewhat frequently (last updated January 9th 2022) https://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=7273 Google Drive download links are near the bottom of the article - you'll have to copy/paste them. I tried the suppressed sounds mod with SF2, and while it sounds nice, they applied suppressed sounds to ALL of my soldiers during night missions (which there are a good number of in SF2's campaign). I found it bit distracting when pushing through some of the later missions at night, going door to door with suppressed rifles.. When in actuality you'd really want loud boom booms to get rifles thrown down and hands up quicker. Oh and the ambient sound mod for SF2 / Afghanistan was a nice addition when I played through the SF2 campaign
  13. Just got my key from the Slitherine page - I already had an account so it was as easy as logging in and copy/pasting a few keys. Thanks for making this easy to do! Now I can peer pressure some Steam friends into Combat Mission
  14. Thank you - I'll be sure to do this! Any advice with gun-based AA like the Shilka and M163 Vulcan? It would be pretty nice if you could set "anti-aircraft arcs" or something to help eliminate over-application of 20/23mm dakka (and if helicopters were displayed in the game - a man can dream!). Thank you as well - I'll definitely be doing this from now on. I'll have to be wary of transports auto supplying ammo as well. Looks like they can auto supply units up to ~2 tiles away. Outside of my screenshot was my lone Redeye trooper (gunner? missileer? specialist? shooty dood? I like shooty dood) who had just fired off ALL of his ammo as well. And as far as I'm aware, the shooty dood didn't score a single hit and definitely did not discourage the enemy one bit, because they remained in the sky doing gun runs and rocket attacks on me over the next few turns. It really feels as if Redeyes are just extra large roman candles.
  15. I had the Vulcans auto-firing - I wasn't aware you could manually choose air targets (new to the 'new' games!). How do you do that?!
  16. Interestingly, none of them managed to down the enemy helicopter even after using up all of their ammunition!
  17. Thanks for the patch and post-release work on the game! I haven't gotten to play it as much as I want to, but I really love it. Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I have a small log of bugs or issues I've found and documented in the game (I did QA work in the past - it ruined me!). Is there a specific place or email address or maybe forum that I should submit the document to?
  18. I don't think I have the save, but the 'best' I've gotten is taking out 2 unbuttoned BMP's with 1 tank round in the final mission of the NTC campaign. The shot came from pretty much straight on the side of the BMP, went through the new meat-based internal armor system and knocked out the 2nd BMP that was lined up on the other side. I couldn't see a round passing through, so I assume that instead of penetrating through both, the first BMP's ammo detonated and the explosion was massive enough to knock out the 2nd BMP. I might be wrong, but I suspect modern rounds may have less of a tendency to over-penetrate like rounds of the past would/could in some cases, with advanced fuses and all of that. But it would be fun to test! I might have to make a video of it one of these days if it produces interesting results! Now this makes me wonder if there's a way to inspect a vehicle after a battle to see details on how it died, more than simply the name of what killed it? I'm a bit spoiled by Graviteam games where it shows penetrations / partial penetrations / deflects in pretty great detail (attached image to demonstrate)
  19. Oof.. At least it makes for a funny story! I really enjoy that things can go wrong in sims / realistic games, though sometimes it takes me a while to remember that after something goes wrong for me!
  20. His target was another BMP about 800-900 meters away which was basically the only other target in sight at the time. If it doesn't look like it in the video, he came fairly close to nailing the M60 in front of him (would have been even closer if I didn't reverse the M60 that turn). I was trying to get a good angle of the video that showed both the success and then the failure, but it turns out there's some talent required to effectively display moving gameplay (which I do not have!). Basically I was on high from getting my first kill with the Dragon (partially because I assumed it was going to fail with what I've read about it), and then #2 comes along with his "Limp Dragon" shot that almost results in a blue on blue kill.. I set up Geforce Experience and got Shadowplay running now - I'll give that a whirl the next time I feel like recording something. Thank you for the recommendation! Finally, as unreliable as the Dragon can be, I've gotten pretty good results out of it. I'm starting to learn you want to hit targets from their sides instead of front on (I mean, it sounds obvious when I write it..
  21. So, I've put a decent amount of time into CMCW today and witnessed a funny thing near the start of a turn, where my emotions went on a bit of a rollercoaster ride. I felt obligated to install Bandicam and share a small video of it with you fine people. I'll let the video do the rest! Apologies for the watermark - I might have to look for alternate free software if I want to make more of these in the future
  22. I received A-10 x2 support instead of 155mm howitzer battery support. Almost feels like the AI got the howitzers instead of me with as much death raining down on me!
  23. Thanks for the hard work getting this out, guys. I've done a few years of QA work (with Activision .. bleh) and know how that 'crunch' time feels before/after a release This will be my first CM game in about 18 years after rediscovering the series, so wish me luck!
