I like the way the training campaign uses a 1/10 scale mini-map to decide the initial deployment - it's rather useful to give a good sense of the lie of the land.  I'll suggest that's used in future campaigns to provide an immersive geographical perspective.

Maybe unavoidable, but when Stinger-carrying guys are sitting in a Jeep, the end of the launcher protudes through the floor.  Expect sparks.

Not if it's a home machine and you trust the people who live with you.  Of course if your work involves dealing with nuclear launch codes and your lodger's name is Philby, Burgess or Mclean, then it might be an issue.

Do you think this could be the beginning of an ongoing idea, where interim builds (tweaks, bug fixes, enhancements) could be made available to interested players prior to release?  I'm guessing that would be a viable approach as everything becomes available on Steam with a growing user base there, and would be useful for wider-scale testing.
I'm comparing to the likes of Command:MO where there's a core of regulars on the forum who are always keen to try out each beta as it's posted, helping iron out the wrinkles, and contributing to that eventual official update.

Here's a little something from 1980 - a band featuring not just one Martha, but two!

Hehe!  I got around that by attaching a monitor as well (parked on a small table) - I don't know if that's possible with Astropad.  The crispness makes reading the UI much easier, and you can watch TV at the same time.  Or pretend to... "Er, yes dear, fascinating!"
I too find that the colour shift doesn't make me sleepy, but I quite like it and it does mark the evening progressing.

FWIW I've tried streaming CM games from my main PC (in a different room) to a low-power HTPC outputting to my TV.  Works quite well, but TVs aren't as crisp as monitors so it's hard to read the text in the UI.  Outputting to a monitor works just fine.

To change direction a little, here's something to appreciate the M60A2 being in the game:

OK, though that's a gamified workaround - something you wouldn't do in real life.  I'd like to see an actual in-game solution at some point.

Ah, but that's not the problem - I'm quite sparse on waypoints actually.  The problem is that some gaps that look passable aren't, unless some specific line segment is placed perfectly.  Look at the OP's description of the problem - that's what many of us experience.
This is an issue where the 'hitbox' - the volume representing the vehicle - collides with the hitbox of obstacles on the map, such as trees, buildings, walls etc.  This collision test only happens during the processing of the turn, not when the player creates the path (of infinitesimally thin vectors).  I've suggested that the same processing could be done for a single segment, on demand, before the end-turn button is pressed.  No new AI would be needed.

Hey it works, thanks!  I suspect like most people, I'd previously only dismounted by choosing a waypoint.

Yes, the various tech levels are on a par, more symmetrical than CMSF2.  However, that doesn't mean every scenario is so balanced - there are plenty of challenging ones involving a lightweight group trying to deal with a heavier adversary, like the above one I mentioned.  You can use a toolbox in many different ways.

It's worse than that  - I did read your post yet the information didn't go in!  Now I even remember reading it in the manual, but I think my brain suffers from ROM-syndrome sometimes.  To say fair I maybe forgot it as it's a feature I seldom find a use for - more commonly I have to be careful timing the mount-up before departure.

I also think the early Genesis is the best, the most creative, but as members left (Gabriel, Hackett) that creative process diminished.  While not so "prog" I do think they remained as a good rock band for a while, including Duke and even up to Abacab, but after that got a bit boring.  I'm not very familiar with Gabriel's work outside, except for his best known works - maybe I should explore more there.  Hackett has some good stuff too.
Other from that era are still around, such as Jethro Tull, Alan Parsons (post-Project), Supertramp's Roger Hodgson and Marillion.  Fish (ex-Marillion) has some good solo work, and even Kansas (wayward son) are still touring.
There's a bunch of internet radio sites specialising in Prog Rock, such as The Musical Box, Prog.fm and Progzilla - good places to find out what's new as well as hear old favourites.
One of the widest ranges of style has got to be the Alan Parsons Project, from spiky electronica through haunting ballads to soft rock - here's one from 1979:

    Here ya go:
OK, pause and edit might be made to be quite easy, but it would break up the whole idea of a commander biting his nails during that WEGO minute where he's just an observer.  Plus, the devs would have to develop such an edit method, which I'd guess isn't trivial.
The idea of WEGO is to break up the battle into useful chunks to balance commanding and action playing out, to best simulate real life combat; mostly that works well. This is just one of those situations where it results in unrealistic behaviour - temporary paralysis when a reaction would happen IRL - so it would be good to come up with solutions that still fit within that WEGO time chunk approach.

What about checking one chosen leg (through a gap) by incrementally stepping through that internal "reality at the moment" path?  If the game can do it at run time, why can't it do so on a limited scale at "verify" time?
I get that it can't do it in the same way as the terrain cursor, as that simply looks up the value of the terrain map at one point.  Lookup vs calculation.

And how could I forget Camel's "West Berlin"?  Seems appropriate in this thread somehow.
