The war in Ukraine has altered some of our plans. There will be a Black Sea module but it will not be released until the time is right. Anytime soon would feel ghoulish and we don't feel comfortable about seeming to try and cash in on the tragedy. How long will it be until we feel differently? It depends. 6 months? A year? 2 years? Hard to tell right now.

Thanks for the update m8. The CMBS delay is the right thing to do. CMBN on steam next sounds ace, may all the team stay safe and keep the good work chugging along.

We are not interested in Kremlin trolls and disinformation propagandists.  We are interested in talking about the way the world really is.

You've had your one and only warning.  Permanent ban for your next violation, so think carefully before you post.

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    • I've been an active member on the forum since your company started and never been warned for anything. 'akd' asked me a question and I answered him.
    • If something I've said or posted is not factually correct then please correct me rather than call me a 'disinformation propagandist'.
    • At the end of the day its your company m8 but I don't think calling people names eg. 'Kremlin troll' is really helpful.

  3. Who hasn't done this in game, mounted their ATGMs on top of apartment buildings.  Title says its Ukrainian AZOV batt. but no detail on where , how etc. It also doesn't indicate if the buildings are populated. Are the Ukrainian's using 'human shields"?  Anyway the only counter tactics I've used that worked well in game is to use artillery. So as this game models accurately I guess we will see more Russian arty strikes on apartment blocks.

PS: The US are officially saying no-way to the aircraft deal from Poland, they are poo pooing about escalation.

  4. Takeaways from Sir john Sawers (ex British MI6 chief) insights...
    - MI6 Knew well in advance about Ukraine and the Russian security issues (predicted it)
    - Kiev is the historical heart of Russia (he agrees with Putin)
    - West need to negotiate a way out for Putin
    - Current Russian terms will never be acceptable to current Ukraine Govt.
    - Ukraine Govt. didn't think Putin would attack.
    - Russian armed forces will prevail but resistance will continue (guerrilla war).

between there and Donetsk, involving separatist militias ("Sparta" battalion), plus Chechen units fighting on both sides (clan feuds). And of course those Azov Nazi guys.

Here's a Sparta  video from several days ago 'Sparta entered Volnovakha'. I note how the drone is used to increase the situational awareness.

The only region where the "pro-Russian" part called "Opposition Party - For Life" got over 50% votes was the northern Donetsk region

Check 2004, 2010 election results and voting distribution.  My point is that there is a historic ethnic division and that does not help when trying to resolve this conflict. I note that in the 2019 election was during the conflict lots of people did not vote or could not vote in the east, results therefore are not indicative of the historic pattern.

That is a decision for Ukraine to make, not Russia or anyone else.

That's not the role (historical examples) that NATO and EU took in the Yugoslavia etc., they worked to facilitate elections and protect civilians  NOT handing out weapons which will lead to escalation. Also the Ukrainian govt. had made (signed) a peace agreement, called 'Minsk agreement' which they were not implementing. I don't know many experts in this field who are surprised at where we are now. The only people who are shocked are the public cos they've had to stop watching football.

This is the point that keeps getting skipped over by the Putin apologists.  What has been going on for the last 8 years in the Donbas had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LOCAL POPULATION in any meaningful way.  This was all done by Russia for Russian interests.  The locals in the Donbas that were genuinely pro Russia was just a little icing on the cake.,

The Ukrainian election data for the last 3 elections does not support this view. Clearly the data shows the west of Ukraine votes for a western leaning candidates and the east votes for an eastern leaning candidates. Why don't we do what we did in Serbia and let em all have an independence vote(also happened in Scotland m8). Would that not be the most democratic thing to do?

Sorry, but you've got a logic gear or two missing from your thinking box there.  I'd recommend getting that looked at.

Is it ok to personally attack users on the forum now? Cos I remember the last time we had a Ukraine war thread.....

Taken from the "Politics Discussion and Black Sea ChrisND" which was locked (Thankfully)

    "Examples of unacceptable discussions:...

    - Making the discussion personal. This forum is for discussing the game, not other posters. Attack the argument, not the arguer"

  10. I think the earliest would be early 43, Why?  I see the Volkssturm have a 37mm pak but ya cant change gun crews so that's out of the question.  At best the PZIIIs are late models, Long barrelled stugs, no t-34s with single turret hatch (early ones), you could do infantry vs partisans ok. There are some early vehicles like Krupp Protze but your really limited.

I'm going to wait till Steve brings out CMKS 'Kursk Salient', with early stugs, KV's, BA-10, T-60s etc. Due to the success of CMCW I may die before 'Kursk' ever happens.   😜

NOTE:  I would settle for CMCG, Combat Mission Khalkhin Gol

I'll just put this one in my lemon pile and move on.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  There is no way to know how it will play out once it's in the wild.

Its not a lemon just trying to add constructive things to improve the options for players. I don't expect designers to get it right first off, look at all the player generated scenarios in version 2 or 3.  And we don't have the time constraints that you do. I didn't read the design notes but i will do that. Thanks for the detailed feedback m8.

  12. I've just started this as Soviet but am disappointed. Long range shooters can shoot straight into the setup zone. There is no artillery option to pin the shooting elements (artillery) until your reinforcements arrive. I doubt that a force attempting to cross into hostile territory would not have artillery or air support up front. Yes BTR can swim and navigate the forest but its just not realistic. The reinforcement come as one large drop and are automatically in LOS to enemy.

I think this scenario should be altered. My suggestions are....

    • Map is great but I would change the footbridge to a wide bridge - options for the tanks
    • consider a longer map edge so incoming units are not in direct LOS to pre-sighted AI.
    • Full width setup zone, right to edges of map.
    • reinforcement come in smaller groups e.g. 1 BTR platoon, then a tank squadron etc.
