    I mean really the whole thing is pretty simple - I would think it would be common sense;

    1. Don't call people mentally damaged
    2. Maybe don't go around complaining about moral virtue signaling after you called people mentally damaged.
    3. If you can do neither of those then don't make the post.
3a. If you absolutely cannot help yourself remove the beta tester tag.

Because fundamentally if there are in fact these mental defectives obsessed with Combat Mission your posts will not dissuade them. However, your posts sure as hell paint Battlefront in a bad light.

Yea, its more than a little frustrating as someone whose enjoyed the games a lot. I'm spending a fair amount of time in the last few days trying to help people out over on the Steam forums and put a good face on the game. I don't want to have to deal with people talking faster than they can think.

lawl - so much for some humility.

They are unpaid volunteers but I'm describing the view point of people outside these forums. If you have the beta tester tag you are a de-facto representative regardless of whether Battlefront wants you to be or not.

Yea this sort of post is absolutely ****ing whack.

Pro-tip: If you are going to lead with calling people who dislike the game mentally disturbed maybe you should stop posting here.

    ------

Like this is embarrassing to anyone who attempts to talk about the game in other venues. How do I go on Steam Discussion or Reddit or whatever and say "well they actually aren't huge snobs" when 3rd post literally calls them mentally unstable?

Especially if your label is Beta Tester you ought to be presenting yourself better since you are de-facto a representative of the game to many people.

Holy cow.  And this type of comment is exactly why BFC and its beta teams have such a poor reputation.  Exactly this.  Unfortunately, there was a period of time where any negative comment was virtually set upon by people on this forum.  And it was condoned by BFC though inaction.  Because of that, this forum became its own little insular world.  But the internet has a long memory.  And exposing BFC to the Steam masses gives those previously aggrieved a forum for revisiting past issues without BFC being able to control the narrative.   As soon as BFC made the Steam announcement, I knew what would happen on both sides.  But to see thjis kind of comment and general degradation of people who just don't happen to like the game, BFC, or maybe Steve, sure exposes the worst of this forum.  And this comment is worse than any I have seen on Steam...ever.

As the gentleman with the 30 award review. I just want to say thank you for belittling my intelligence, and assuming that I have no other goal in life but to trash BFC. My review was based on price, age, and toxic community/lack of support. Which this thread did such a great job of doing, (this thread even got mentioned in the comments of my review as an example of the toxicity in my review! Congratulations!).
Why is it so hard for you all to accept an OPINION that in this day and age, the game is not worth $60, and has valid, numerous problems (which I'm hoping will still be addressed, but I don't hold my breath when it comes to great support here).
Now, if you excuse me, I'll go back to playing CMSF2. If you keep watch for a week or two, you'll see I play this game quite a bit. I don't know why though, since I'm "mentally unstable/disturbed people out there who have literally dedicated their lives to trashing BFC "
As for LOS not being a dice roll... fine, what the h*** is it then? Because I'm tired of hearing "well it's abstracted, and the method is a state secret punishable by death and you just need to accept that!" It's extremely crappy given this day and age, and the fact that there are numerous games, who have figured out a proper LOS system. Even the danged youtube videos admit problems with it. If you guys want to keep insisting it doesn't have numerous flaws, I'm more than happy to start making youtube videos pointing them out.
All I did was leave an opinion, which people are certainly allowed to do. Thank you gentleman for making it a personal attack. This is definitely going to get people to love you all.

Btw folks if you have redeemed your game on Steam be sure to leave a review. Well done reviews are important to the marketing of the game on Steam

I for one welcome the potential influx of new forum members. This forum could do with some fresh blood, otherwise it runs the risk of getting stale. And frankly I find the cliquish attitude a bit sad. Yeah some are going to complain about things, so what? New players also mean new interesting tactical or historical discussions, potentially new contributions in the form of modders or new scenario designers.

If you're talking about the manual (CM Shock Force 2 Base Game Manual), which has a tutorial to step you through the training campaign, then you'll find that wherever you have your game installed on the computer.  This is the same place that the Engine Manual and Scenario Design Manual are installed as well as the .exe file that launches the game.

The quality of the Steam forums depends on the game. Usually wargames have decent communities.

My personal pref would be to lock down the Steam forum to exclusively announcments and direct all users over here.

    FYI for folks reading this

I have been able to register my game on Slitherine but there currently isn't a Steam Key available. My guess is this is going to come on release (Aug. 25th).

Thats all well and good, but Ukraine and Syria both have areas where long LOSs are relatively common.  Not sure Western Europe is very relevant in modern CM right now.

There are many topics that go off in weird directions, but only certain ones that upset certain people seem to get criticised.  Some people get irritated. Others find em interesting.  I'll start keeping a better look out for the other off topic threads and bring them to your attention so as to help you make sure you can police them as well.  Thank you for your service.

What always sticks out to me is that the animation for firing from half-tracks overly exposes the crew. Since exposure = death a better animation would improve the utility of the HTs. I played around a bit with the animation files (after getting inspiration from the animation mod) and was able to get folks in the HT to not stand when firing and they were much less likely to be killed. Unfortunately it broke other things.

Any a future update a change to firing stance from vehicles would be nice.

Something I;ve noticed is that automatics always fire in a straight line and never track their target. Which I suspect makes them a bit worse than they ought to be.
