  1. Urban 2 introduced indulgences to recruit for the crusades. Participate and you are forgiven for all the pilfering and killing. Naturally corruption is very seductive. Indulgences were challenged during the reformation. European wars and politics are unthinkable without the religions. Most believers are normal decent people but it certainly inspires the crooks.
  2. The English Civil War, in Germany thirty-year war and the Dutch and the Spanish eighty-year war. All offshoots from the reformation. Napoleon put an end to it by taking the crown out of the hands of the pope and crowning himself. Religious wars were still going strong till the end of the eighteenth century. Then we had Northern Ireland.
  3. I agree it is true. We are creating a void and people with radical ideas will fill it. Meditating is cool praying the rosary is not. Basically very similar but young people experiment with other ideas. Religions can inspire people to commit absurdities it is a danger. Like the Stalingrad movie, Gott mit uns or in God we trust are popular slogans.
  4. Yep facts as it suits you. $22000 -$4000 she is $18000 better off. In Dutch it is called aftrekken (subtraction) aka masturbation.
  5. I thought that Manuel came from Barcelona. He worked for a Bed and Breakfast Inn (Fawlty Towers) in England.
  6. We live in a world of alternative reality where 2+2 equals five because you have the right of an opinion..
  7. One click and you can read it in English. Ukraine's counteroffensive: Ukraine's counteroffensive has missed its target | ZEIT ONLINE It is not how long it takes but does the West want the Ukraine to win.
  8. You don't need to be in C2 to call in a Fire Mission you even don't need a radio. The unit in this case a mortar unit needs a radio. Somehow any HQ is always in Communication with the FDC.
  9. The Mortar needs only a radio nearby belonging to his C2 if the Platoon HQ is gone the Company HQ can take over if he is nearby. The Fire Direction Centre is outside the C2 on the map you need a radio to be in contact with the fire direction centre. Otherwise use the 60 mm in the direct fire mode.
  10. Company is mostly in contact with his Regiment or Battalion by Radio if it is the case a Radio Icon will pop up. Lots of people call it radio buttons in other graphics not only in Combat Mission. In your screenshot he is in distant visual contact I don't know or that is good enough to be in contact with the fire direction centre. US HQs have Radios which must be nearby I keep them inside four action squares. But the C2 is otherwise irrelevant. I just checked it out a Sherman HQ with a different C2 could call Mortar Support because the Mortar has a Radio nearby.
  11. The leader maybe a casualty but if his RTO is not they keep the radio contact or a 2xo is elevated as an HQ.
  12. Easy to find out the game will show out of contact or the way it is shown above he is within C2 with his HQ
  13. The Green Dots are the C2 artillery can be called by most HQ doesn't matter or they are in C2. If another unit call for the mortar your mortar HQ needs to have a radio and be nearby. With US no problem they have the best Radio Communication in WW2. Even if you are in vocal C2 you need a radio for units outside your C2.
  14. Yes these are called radio buttons but different people give them different names. You don't need them for Artillery Missions. The one you are using is the US 60 mm if I am not mistaken. The first option is direct fire indirect if it is not possible. In your case I can't read it ok you have less than 20 shells so indirect is not really an option.
  15. As long as the Mortar section has a radio any HQ with or without radio can call for a mission. Don't ask me how but it is the way it is. One example is Hammer's Flank first battle. The Mortar FO unit doesn't have a radio but is still able to call indirect fire missions. I found he needs to be really close to the enemy unit you wish to target. I found two hundred metres for him to be effective. Possibly it is modelled he is using his own position as a TRP by using a hypothetical flare. Having him close to his Regiment HQ with radio and use the FO like a US or British FO is not much use. I had the best result by calling the mission 200 metres from his position. The Green Dots I think you mean the Radio Buttons in the Command Panel.
  16. The Dutch called them Politionele Akties now please give me the correct translation.
  17. Yes I think that is correct. You buy the rights to play the game and make scenarios. I think it stops people selling their keys to use the game.
  18. I played Red Thunder since it came out. It is close to Ten Years that works out on $2/ Week. Very cheap entertainment. Still discover new stuff. Need to do plenty of reading about tactics and doctrine and play accordingly. It has a long learning cycle.
  19. You need to understand that none of us own the game you buy only the right to play it. We can't sell a game we don't use. In that case you could have my Black Sea game but technically I don't own it. I have the key number but I can't sell it.
  20. Gaza is not sustainable and nobody wants it. Egypt was offered the place during the Camp David accord. Yes it will be occupied by Israel whether they like it or not. It will come with responsibilities.
  21. You will have two million refugees. Gaza is infiltrated probably since the Camp David agreement. Egypt didn't want the area for good reason. I can't see how it will be tolerated any longer a new generation of fanatics will be raised there.
