From personal experience, 120mm (rifled) at 6km is a lot more accurate when compared to 155mm L52 at 12km, which is apparently not how it is in the games.

Any possible further bone about a modern game, pretty please? Understand quitting on Black Sea, but I would LOVE to see something set that incorporated some of the lessons from the war set in 2030 or 2035, don't really care where.

Thanks for answering me so clearly on this one! However, this is devastating news. CMBS is my favourite CM game but it always lacked a bit variety. I can understand your decision but this makes me incredibly sad.
As for Slitherine/Matrix, they are soon releasing Broken Arrow. A game that features the realistic destruction of entire building blocks via rocket strikes, painstaking detail when it comes to authenticity of units and overall a very smiliar landscape to Eastern European countries. I don't really see them squirming there. Maybe because that game could be their first mainstream hit?
And personally, I've never understood why contemporary conflicts are taboo while it is completely fine to have SS Todeskopf troops in your fun wargame or bomb the Vietcong without any notion of all the civilian casualties. I probably know all the arguments why this war is okay to depict but not that one. And I can even comprehend most of them. But Wargames are not some casual fun games. They are - more often than not - simulators and show us the workings of modern equipment and tactics. And, at least for me, they even have an anti-war element to them, much more than most of so called anti-war movies. And in that regard, they transcend the regular piety rules that apply for entertainment media.
Anyways. It is great to hear that there is enthusiasm for other modern settings from your side. I do know that it's not gonna be a game featuring the IDF though.

This is a great video. It is very helpful in understanding how the Soviet forces were designed to be used. I would love to see a similar one done for the Russians in CMBS.

This is one of my pet requests. I would like the ability to call fire on a map coordinate, and if there is no line of sight, then it's a FFE mission and while it will hit the grid location accurately (after all, the FO and the FDC are using the same map, so the rounds should hit what he asked for), the effects will be unknown to the friendly side since there is no LOS. That's fine. It mimics reality.  No need to get fancy with entering coordinates. The current FO call line works fine, just that inside the game a different behavior is used if there is no LOS from FO to target. This would allow firing on a tentative contact, for example, you know the enemy is expected to have armor, and you get a couple of sound contact behind a treeline or just over a rise, where you can't see.
Doesn't need to be TRPs. TRPs main advantage is faster response time. For TRPs the battery FDC will have already calculated firing data, and needs only to send it to the guns.

    Realistic options:
    - Most important: update on the handling of artillery in game, for FOs to be able to call for artillery even when no line of sight,
    - The CMBS module, preferably with the MPF vehicle in it.
    - More realistic widespread use of TRPs in scenarios. Every FO will produce some when able, both in offense and defense.
    Less realistic options:
    - Israelis in one of the modern games. Would love to see some Merkavas, Namers and Eitans in Combat Mission

I would day the use of JSOC. Proper room clearing mechanics. No just running into the building and hoping you spot the enemy first. I created a mod for Foregrips, but I would like to see them come with the game themselves. maybe being able to use a Blackhawk to bring in more troops. or maybe have it pop up to. drop off troops and then disappear again.

Awesome stuff, feels surrealistic with current events in the back of my mind while trying it.
This definitely deserves and maybe needs a thread of its own.
An idea for the scenario: maybe there should be a time restriction for the UA side to react? Like the time that is needed IRL to create Situational Awareness
    Keep up the great work!

Offtopic: Where IRL are all the BTR-4s which are in game? Was there just a limited production?

This is maybe a bit pessimistic but couldnt that take like a few more years? I know you guys dont want to release the DLC since you dont want to seem as you are making money of the war. ( if I got that right) But im pretty sure that most people who play the game already know that.

The Russians across all Combat Missions desperately need more complex pre planned bombardments.
How cool would it be to schedule a 15min bombardment at one place then switch to rolling bombardment in another spot immediately after.

Also, it feels so bad only being able to adjust ALL artillery rather than moving individual batteries to different fires.
    A man can dream…

USMC vs russia, airborne forces!!!!!  That will be great!  Get some more infantry-based fighting.
so BFC is working to get all its content updated to the same level and up on steam.  That's great, it has a cost but it has to be done.  There's a CMBS module coming, plus they ARE working on engine5!   And Steve said there'd be new content to go along w the steam releases.  Not bad.  Plus he promised a surprise.  I like surprises, though I still haven't recovered emotionally from wetting my pants when CM was announced out of the blue.
I get that it's not barbarossa or the other stuff many of us are clamoring for, but getting everything updated to same level is important going forward I think, and knowing engine5 is in active dev is heartening for sure.

First post in forever but  this is one of my little hobby horses. Stryker development should concentrate in indirect fire, not better direct fire on a platform that is made of spun sugar. If the bad guys ever get to see the Styrker you are doing it wrong. To be specific, they need a vertically launched Javelin equivalent, and the need either an AGL or  a 60mm mortar that every squad leader can call on for indirect fire in about thirty seconds. For extra points said mortar/grenade launcher should use electromagnetic propulsion instead of gun powder to give full, and complete control of the trajectory. It only needs a range of a ~2000 meters. Think about the absolute rain of devastation that Marine 60mm mortars cause in CMSF. You have the 120mm for longer range targets. And for the love of god please tell me they are working on a way to shoot down small drones wholesale. because the other side is going to bring them by the container load.

I'd like to indrect fire from AGLs too.....Making their direct fire (especially from vehicle mounts) a little more precise wouldn't hurt either.

+1.  What @Sgt.Squarehead said above is probably a large part of the problem.  I'm not sure if its a bug or engine limitation but it is shared across all nationalities.  If you want to lobby Battlefront to model telescopic sights I'm with you, my friend.  We can add unconventional forces with demo charges and modern mine plows to the list.
It's in our gaming interest to have the simulation as realistic as possible and our small community as united as possible.
