professionalXMAZ reacted to passpatrik in units running from cover
    Hello friends from Battlefront,

i have purchased Shock Force (base game) and im going through single missions.

I often have problem with units behavior, which is manifested by running out of cover. Im familiar with Combat Misiion mechanics of chain of order and morale. My units are in safe spot, under command, and with regular, even crack skill. Still, very often few seconds after enemy small arms fire, they decide to run from building to open space and get slaughtered. They arent panicked or routed, if they survive enemy turn with small casualities or without them, i can override their movement command and bring them back. Good scenario for testing this condition is for example Ambush in Al Fubar and U.S. side.

My question: Am i missing some a.i. update, or should i install campaigns update, if my purchased version of the game is game engine 4 and V2.02 ? Thank you in advance and sorry for my lame foreign English.  Patrik

The M5A1 Stuart can also fire its .30 cal AAMG if there's targets to its right side and it's unbuttoned.

You can then use target light to indirect fire with .50 anywhere

Yes, I believe so. They need to be unbuttoned. Be aware whom ever you are backing towards has every right to shoot at you though.... 🙂

They will. I tested it myself:

They do it on their own. So they need to be in a position where they are busy with important stuff forwards and the spot and are threatened from behind.

This comes up from time to time because it is confusing. It does not appear on the FAQ post and it should. I did some digging and found two useful threads that answers the way the game works question:

Missions that are specified with in ~50m around a TRP. So you can call a point mission anywhere inside that circle or create an area mission with a radius of up to 100m or a short line mission. If you have two TRPs then you can create a line between them or an area mission that centres near one and has a radius out near the other.

Adding to what @IanL said, there is a small circle in the bottom right hand corner of every artillery or air asset representing the C2 level between the unit calling for the support and the artillery. The darker green the circle is, the shorter the call time will be. If the little circle is yellow, orange or red, expect very long call times.

What @General Liederkranz said. I'll just add a couple more thoughts. One is the call time will vary based on who is making the call. The Platoon Lt could have a longer call than the Company CO who's call will be longer than a dedicated FO. For battalion mortars often the mortar platoon HQ has the best call time. Just mentioning this on the off chance you don't already know this.
Also some people advocate for calling maximum duration missions and then adjusting them. This results in more responsive changes but has the draw back of using all your ammo so you would need to cancel the mission if you don't have a secondary target.

Unfortunately you can’t. In the game, offmap artillery/mortar call time isn’t affected by previous missions. There’s no “memory” of previous targets, and there’s no benefit to repeating a previous mission. Each fire mission starts from scratch. That may not be realistic but it is the way the game is built.
Placing a TRP before the game will speed up call time, but again that’s independent of whether you’ve fired at that spot during the game previously. It just speeds up all shots at that target.
You can of course adjust the target of a fire mission BEFORE it’s finished, and that will be quicker than calling a new mission. But there are limits to what you can change by adjusting. Most notably, you can’t change the length of an ongoing mission.

As a test I threw together a Brit/Syrian QB that included Syrian airpower. 3/4 the way through the scenario I was winning handily and was set to publically scoff at the notion of Syrian airpower. Then the Hinds showed up. I've got to hand it to them, they did a commendable job of systematically shooting up all my armor. That was FUN!

There is a lot of discussion here about 'Stingers for the Brits', but what about stingers for the Dutch? they use them also IRL, so why not give them ingame?

Well for starters the UK forces do have AA assets IRL.
As to what would be different between operating in Syria or Ukraine I would honestly expect very little difference at all. Clearly in Syria there would be no Syrian air force left at all. In the case of Ukraine I am sure that NATO would not be willing to destroy the entire Russian air force but no Russian air craft would be able operate long against hypothetical NATO forces in Ukraine. I'd say none would succeed but it is possible that some missions might get through. It would be so few that it would be effectively irrelevant.

why? people want a fun game, not 'brits don't get aa bc our books say they don't and we have rules for ourselves'
i don't think the solution is removing syrian airpower.
shooting at eachother is fun. being unable to shoot back is not fun.
even against the brainless qb ai it annihilated his tanks and he couldn't fight back at all.
They have starstreak. It's from 1997 - present.  So yea, i don't understand what the argument is even about or why it was removed.  Who cares if it's stingers not starstreak.  Please keep the british competitive and give them back AA capability.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starstreak
In July 2001, Thales received a contract for a Successor Identification friend or foe system for Starstreak.[6]
In mid-2007, Thales UK in Northern Ireland revealed that it had developed Starstreak II, a much improved successor to the Starstreak missile. Some of the advantages included in this new missile are an improved range of 7 km (4.3 mi), improved lethality,[2][3] an improved targeting system and the ability to operate it at much higher altitudes,[7] up to 5 km (16,000 ft).[8]

We had 172 men ok. 60 went to paradise. 19 were wounded.
The cowardly regime forces ended with 84 men ok. 32 burn in the fires of hell and 17 shall soon die of infection inshallah.

FWIIW: I've put in a ticket (Mac + Base + Marines) as my QB's fail / crash to desktop consistently whenever I try anything "automatic".

I don't have hours for CM (sadly) so I'm constantly playing QB's - and looking forward to a fix.

Yeah, this happens to me too.  Must be due to not having all the modules.  I only have the Base game and Marines add on.

If you would like to try a few more CMRT campaigns here are  the links to some I have done. All of the campaigns have their own mod folders included and they are tagged so they are specific to those campaigns with the exception of the last one which has its own instructions.

    Rattenkrieg

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifgolk2pozx9ox0/Rattenkrieg.cam?dl=0
Special Note: This campaign uses the Stalingrad Mod created by that team which you can find the link to in the CMRT forums. You must download that mod first  and I recommend creating another CMRT directory clear of any other mods as this one will conflict with some other mods out there. Then install that mod to the new directory (dataz) and then add the mod folder I have included in the download. Delete the original .cam file and use the one from the above link which is the updated.
If you decide to try any of these and you have questions please feel free to ask here or PM me.
    Michael
