It seems that either no one knows or no one cares. The Final Blitz module doesn't seem very popular among the clientele here.

@Vacillator I don't care what the new module will have for the players to have fun with. I'm not going to buy any more modules or such with the game engine there is now.
If Battlefront makes a new game engine wich offers at least some of what I mentioned in my posts about changes to the engine, which would make playing the game more interesting, I would buy something.

I must say I disagree here. The amount of detail in Graviteam is incredible, and they just keep adding more and more. Just recently, they added simulation of exactly where each soldier gets hit by bullets and fragments. Some hits will kill immediately, some will wound, and some wounds will eventually kill - again depending on what part of the body gets hit.
And just to take it to the almost silly levels: I suggested to the developer that Soviet molotov cocktails might in some cases fail to burst if they hit soft ground or deep snow, simply because the bottle won't break. To my surprise, they actually went ahead and used my suggestion and changed the game code to do this.
Which is not only detail for the sake of detail - it means Soviet infantry is now less effective against infantry in snowy and muddy battles.
One can definitely make an argument that Combat Mission is better as a game than Graviteam is, but I think it depends on one's preferences. Both are worth playing in my opinion. CM has micromanagement, turn replay and also better urban combat. But Graviteam has much more detail and work put in overall, as I see it.

Steve has earlier said that the new engine update is only to solve performance issues while playing. Although there is a thread about engine 5 upate wishes, there's not much hope to see any of it.

A question about the scenarios in this new module. Is Battlefront checking the different scenarios before they are added to this module so they are as historically accurate as they're possible to make in the editor?
A long time ago I made a Blue Hills scenario for Final Blitzkrieg which I uploaded to The Few Good Men's Scenario Depot III. When I read that there is a Blue Hills scenario in the Fire and Rubble module to Red Thunder, called Hills of the Moon or something, I was of course curious what it would look like. I later on had the opportunity to have a look at that scenario on a friend’s computer. As far as I remember that Hills of the Moon scenario is quite small with no hills and not much of forests nor any marshy areas but rather two or three areas sparsely covered with trees which won't offer the one playing as the Red Army any challenge. The map looked like it's made by someone who was too lazy to make it properly by using old German or Soviet height maps as the map overlay in the editor.
I'm sure the people who pay for this module are expecting great maps that are as correct as they're possible to make in the editor and not something that makes them think "What the flipping heck is this? Is this map really made with the help of a good map overlay in the editor or has the author quickly cooked something up the night before the release of the module?"
It is possible that the author of the Hills of the Moon scenario for the Fire and Rubble module reads this and feel upset and sad in the eye by what I wrote. I hope that it will make him spend more time on his next scenario map and also make sure that he's using a good map overlay for it.
Thank you for giving me the floor, ladies and gentlemen.

Instead of complaining about having to wait for updates to your Combat Mission game, why not spend some time to learn the Graviteam Tactics Mius-Front game you bought but didn't have the patience to get into thoroughly? I'm sure you'll have loads of fun and good battles with that game. It's on sale now too, so you can get yourself a DLC for a good price. Mius-Front is well worth the time and effort to learn how to play it.

I thought people play these games for a moment of fun and to see how they cope with a challenge and not always for the chance to win the battles.

It's a bit strange that there's this conflict now without Battlefront making a game about it first.
USA must be in a dilemma now. They're accusing Russia of bad behaviour when they are bombing civilians in Ukraine but they don't seem to do the same when Israel is doing it to the people in Gaza. Or have I missed something because not having watched the latest news?
The claims about Hamas slaughtering babies and more, is that to be taken seriously or is it just as true as the fake claim that Iraqi soldiers were throwing babies out of incubators in Kuwait which triggered the Desert Storm mission, or what it was called?

A new video - Vehicle Combat Implemented - was quite recently uploaded to YouTube.
Could this maybe be someone connected to Battlefront who is making Battlefront's new more up to date game, aka Game Engine 3, by using Unreal Engine 5 instead of developing their own game engine?
If this Trait74 (on Reddit) aka Battle Tactics (on YouTube) isn't connected to Battlefront, he's at least showing them how to do it if they don't have the people to make a game engine 3.

It's better to pick the enemy troops yourself, file the quick battle for a few weeks and then play it with the hope that you have forgotten what choices of troops you made.

I'm reading a book I found in my local library which contains citations from letters home, stories from soldiers and quite a few poems as well. This book is surprisingly good and I'll buy it when I've read this copy from the library.

Among the poems is one written by a man named Charles Pritchard Clayton which I think could have been written by a Ukrainian serving on the front today if any of them writes poems.

    Dedication Before Battle

Legions of better men than I
Have died that freedom I might have
Shall I, because I dare not die,
Condemn my son to be a slave?

My life is forfeit to the past,
No favour will I ask or give.
But, steeled in purpose to the last,
Gladly to die if freedom live.

If there will ever be a new game engine for Combat Mission or at least a better updated version of the current one, it would help a lot if there was a similar movement order as there is in the Mius-Front game where you choose to move vehicles to a certain point with the order to "follow the road" to that point.

I had some Gr walking towards a village, then a MRL barrage fell among the houses... and the Gr started running to the rockets; as they run towards the bullets.
I do understand that this is the Beta version and that, as soon as the testers see that, they will correct it. That's why now we have:
    Fire! (AI)            = Run!
    instead of
Fire! (AI/no AI)  = Take cover!
Hopefully, in something like 20 years, they will star selling the actual game...

BornGinger got a reaction from PEB14 in More centralised AI-groups for better game play
There have been quite a few people on this forum, me included, requesting more AI-groups than the 16 for each side in the scenario editor to be able to hopefully make the home made scenarios more interesting and more challenging for those who prefer not to play H2H battles.

A few days ago when I began doing the AI-movements for the scenario I'm a bit busy with now, I got the idea to see how squads in the platoons are moving around on the battle scenario area when painting the same AI-movements and giving the same AI-orders in the editor for in one case two separate company groups of a battalion and in another case two companies in one battalion group.

When I painted the movement orders I didn't paint two or three large yellow areas. Instead of that I decided to paint six different yellow areas and thus try to give each platoon its own area (two companies with three platoons each) just to see how the AI would behave when facing that challenge.

In the first test I had a battalion consisting of two companies, where one company was group A1 and the other was group A2 and where each group (company) were given three painted areas each (three platoons). In the second test I had the same battalion with the same two companies where the whole battalion was group A2. The AI-orders were the same with the difference that this time the AI-movements which earlier belonged to group A1 had been copied and added to the larger group A2. So this time the battalion had six separate painted areas to use.

When there were two company groups the squads in each platoon were sticking together quite well although they sometimes spread out a bit. When the whole battalion was one group the squads in each platoon spread out even more and didn't really stick together very much.

The picture below shows an example of 1 Platoon, 1 Company in these tests. The left column shows 1 Platoon when each company was a separate group and the right column shows 1 Platoon, 1 Company when the two companies belonged to the same group.

I think it would be great, and hopefully not too much work, if the game engine could keep track on each squad in the platoons so they are staying closer to each other when they are following the movement orders that are given in the editor. That way the platoon leader would stay closer to the squads he's supposed to influence and the whole AI-platoon would maybe fight better.

If it was possible for the game engine to keep the squads closer to their leader it would maybe be easier to make an interesting scenario where one can paint more separate movement areas with the trust that a platoon would move there together.

Instead of having a battalion consisting of three companies with three platoons each divided into nine AI-groups in a large or huge scenario, one AI-group for each platoon, it would be possible to for example divide that battalion into three groups. And if we wanted to have eight tanks in that scenario moving separately we could make them into eight different groups and still have five AI-groups left. Those five groups could be used for whatever we'd find would make the scenario more fun to play.
