I think you touch on some legitimate issues, but then you include stuff like this, which is not an issue, so it ends up detracting from the actual legitimate issues you mention.

It uses "channels" rather than threads. So you can just go into whatever channel you want and talk at any time, no need to create a thread. As a result, they tend to be more active. Also from a purely combat mission perspective, the userbase for a discord will skew younger than the forums, so that changes things a bit.

Its an interesting thesis but I don’t think Patton was assassinated. I view Patton through a spiritual lens. He was one of many war-like spirits sent to earth in a time of conflict. There were many such spirits sent to earth during WW2. When the war was over his spirit had no reason to be on the earth anymore and so he was recalled back to the heavens in a way that wouldn’t arouse suspicion to the mortals. I don’t think it’s a coincidence he died as the war ended. Without conflict to sustain the violent spirit it was recalled to Mars’ side. One has seen this before with the great warriors, they die when the conflict ends because they can’t live without it, they have no purpose. The fact that he used his final days on earth trying to enlighten the mortals should be viewed as a positive IMO.

I agree its very sad. I personally wish the US had been as hard with the French in forcing them to give up their empire as they were with some of these other European countries, especially in Vietnam. Had we sided with Ho Chi Minh and not the anemic French empire we could have avoided the Vietnam fiasco.

Is this confirmed true? I know I've heard similar things from veteran players like @Erwin but I know some like Rinaldi really seem to disagree so I'm never sure.

The problem is that the size of CMX2 maps, as @Erwin (among others) has pointed out elsewhere, often doesn’t allow this. The maps are often designed to encourage really small engagements with little room for maneuver. So repositioning often isn’t a choice. It depends heavily on the scenario and map designer.

I think Saint_Fuller’s post shows a major problem in this thread, which is certain people just refusing to give due consideration to @Bulletpoint and @RobZ’s arguments. The strawmanning legitimate criticisms of the game results in bad counter arguments that don’t address actual points made.

I was curious as well, so I checked it out. From what I can pick up, the first half of the song is about the inability to find a "good" woman to settle down with, and it complains about how society is too obsessed with instant gratification with pornography (I think). Then the second half complains about Europe being destroyed and overrun and encourages you to join something, not sure what. Weird song choice.
