  1. Follow the same instructions for the Steam version? Just use their folder?
  2. Jumping in here late... but making sure I'm clear... I bought last December, so I'm still current right? New patch coming at some point, but nothing I need to do now.
  3. Since asking earlier this year and trying a demo of CMFB, I just went and grabbed the full deal on CMBN. Now I'm downloading and perusing the mods sites to go into 2018 fighting old wars all over again. I have an email recommending some mods for me, but want to make sure I get a good start with the best ones... JuJu UI - have this one downloaded already. all skins by Aris - is there perhaps a pack with all of them in one place? I keep seeing 1,000,000 of them separate downloads !!! Tanks a lot buildings - Have all four of these for CMBN JuJu Terrain - had these from my demo days. Any other must haves?
  4. The game rocks. With WEGO mode it's worse than Civilization for that "one more turn" thing. I wish I'd saved my game prior to a turn last night -- ARGH! Thought I'd told my tank to move forward, fire, and then move backwards. Oops. I miskeyed and changed his move forward to move backwards... and he did, taking a lot of time to turn around to do so and got walloped by the AT Gun... What a blast (not pun intended).
  5. I knew I should have said "no suggestions please" but as Mortars are part of my planned solution, no harm done. My personality likes to solve problems my own first and get help only when I need it.
  6. Yeah. Can be frustrating but I console myself that in real time I would not be able to monitor everything either. Had it happen today in CMBN demo. Snuck two tanks toward the farm and opened fire on one building. About 15 seconds into the turn an AP shot came at one tank. Uh oh! About 30 seconds in the next shot hit. Oh dear. That long 30 seconds too forever, but the next shot wiped it and the crew from battle. I've spent much time since that turn figuring how to take out that AT Gun!!! When I get back to it.
  7. That's where I'm heading now too. Trying the tutorial in CMBN with the stuff I've picked up the last few days just to make sure. But since I already downloaded terrain mods, I think I'm in.
  8. Well, I asked if it could be increased OR decreased. Wasn't complaining just inquiring.
  9. Only issue I have with WEGO is that I know for a 1:20 mission, it's going to be 80 turns I have to keep adjusting the troops. Can the granularity of the turns be increased or decreased somewhere I'm missing? Also, is there anyway that when something happens to a unit we can see who it happened to? A log file/window perhaps?
  10. OK cool... WEGO is pretty neatly implemented here too. Frozen Synapse has this as well (a very cool game in its own right) where you program the actions of the units and then let it fly. Couple of more questions. Apart from missions and region, etc... are CMBN and CMFB essentially the same game? So it's a matter of theme? Also is the CM:Touch app any good for iPad? Just searched the AppStore today to see if there was something similar and discovered there was an official version for mobile. but from 2014 and it seems to be all there is. Not as a replacement for the PC version, but for went on trips and waiting at stores, etc?
  11. Yeah I know about both but prefer the convenience of real time with pause. Seems more real. I hated RTS without pause in the past (where orders could be given that is) I'm new to this game but long time PC gamer of all genres. Even ran a website for gaming news and reviews in the 90s. Nah. 27 years she's put up with ME. Another game won't change anything.
  12. So still trying to decide which to get first: Normandy or FB... so I downloaded the FB demo as well and really only launched the first mission to see what it looked like and didn't expect to play it out. But I left the game paused after just a few seconds and spent time with my wife for the evening, then came up to see how bad I'd lose (on easy level of course...) and I won! Total Allied Victory! Yeah yeah, easy mode, only my second game of the system, but still was pretty cool. Early mistakes at first, but got better acquainted with the camera system, the pause and resume, waypointing move orders, better use of cover, etc... Coolest thing I saw was, we two things. First was just cool to do... We "saw" finally an anti-tank gun all the way across the map. And he had my tank in sight! So started the tank moving out of the way and when he had a shot, told him to take it and KA-POO-YAH! it went! Second happened first and is cool on the part of the game developers. Squad of two soldiers (I guess recon?) early on I ran them up with the others and one guy got hit, told the other guy to hide and he did. But then a few minutes later he crawled over to his buddy and started attending to his wounds. WOW! All this is nothing you guys haven't seen before, but hooked is a truth. Not just to decide which one to get first (cannot be both!) Love the though of all the Normandy content... but like the feel of FB too.
  13. Speaking of mods are there camera control mods? That's the one discomfort I'm having right now. I know what the keys are, but they aren't intuitive to me as a long time user of games and graphics software. For example, I expect mouse scroll to zoom in and out. Right click and mouse to rotate, etc... Nothing I cannot get used to but very happy for the pause and play!!!
  14. OK so... mid first demo session update. WOW! same rule for boardgames applies to me with digital games. if I have fun losing, it's a great game because just playing is the fun. And right now, this one is fun. Stumbled my tanks into a trap right off and whammo... and then: THE CREW BAILED OUT!!! What a detail! Found the bloody Panzerschrek doing the damage and now have to put him down. But very cool. Reminds me of the joy I had playing the original Close Combat series back in the 90s. Not saying they are the same, but the fun for me is. Got the Normandy "demo" and it says v3. Is the v4 engine a lot better in terms of graphics, etc?
  15. Wait what??? DEMOS!!! HUZZAH! Not worried about my computers as I stated... was worried about the game engine.
  16. Just saw a review of CMFB on Armchair General and they mentioned this series was originally a digital version of ASL, is that correct? I've come to the store page a few times before, but get a bit lost in all the options. Some are expansions to certain games and some are stand alone games (vs. a set system + expansions). So figuring CMFB was the latest and greatest, I looked at it, but am confused by the Base Game and the v4 Upgrade (for sale). If I buy the base game, am I getting the v4 engine? What is the upgrade for? People who bought CMFB previously at v3? Or is the base still v3 and I would need to pay more for a v4 upgrade? Also in some videos I'm watching, I see a lot of graphics "tearing" on the screen. I have a pretty beefy system, will I experience that too or is that because the video maker has a weaker system? I love tabletop wargames, especially at the squad level, so this looks like a good PC game for me, but like I said, a little weary walking in blind. RE: complexity... how complex is this game to play just for fun? RE: " The game does not work in a virtualized environment (virtual machine) " Does this just mean I cannot run the game INSIDE a VM or that I cannot run on a machine that also USES VMs?
