Aside from throw grenades, I have been thinking about Target.
It is annoying not to have a target light for a specified time.
How about just target and target light, but if you click/press either button again, it starts to cycle through the target briefly times?

IRL, drivers understand tonnage moving at speed does not stop on a dime. Tanks traveling in column will maintain 25 yards separation (IRL). I'm not disputing the tediousness of "plotting-pausing-plotting-pausing". I simply don't share your impression that we're an easy fix away from correction. But, I'll keep it at that as I don't wish to detract further from good functional specifications that could help BFC restart this effort. No sense in clogging this thread up with negativity.

WWII US tanks traveled maintaining 25yd distance between units in the formation. Dunno the doctrine of other nations. So, let's say that's 3 action spots (3 x 8m). In line formation the leftmost tank would be 100-125yds away from the rightmost vehicle. When stuff happens, what are you're expectations again? Let's say the formation as a whole is in LOS. Let's also assume - each vehicle is immediately aware of the situation. What conditions apply?
Repeat the exercise when flanks are out of LOS and situational awareness is not exact. What conditions apply?
    How is bogging handled?
What happens when LOS is not uniform?
What happens when Hunt or Hulldown is used?
What happens when situational awareness within and without the formation is uncertain?
We seem to put a lot of effort into a "feature" that would rarely function as intended. Why clutter the panel with a command that could only ever be used and reasonably expected to WAD when traveling on a road? And, not even reliably at that.
Yes, it's tedious now. But it works by not promising anything and therefore - not breaking a player's heart when stuff happens!

“They” haven’t because it is supposed to work that way. Every one of those six situations in the list 3 posts up is by design.

I would not assume a gun was out of action unless I could see a whole hit decal on it. Often a non penetrating hit will disable it too but not always. Frankly I subscribe to the real life SOP - it it's not currently burning put a round into it.

It is probably something simple. Don't get frustrated and give up. Hang in there and you'll be glad you did.
In your main CM folder should be a pdf on making scenarios...
Here is a great youtube video...
    Don't give up!

I'd wish for the ability to play back an RT saved game. I don't like to play RT, mostly because I miss too much of the spectacle, the pretty lights, the thing that blew up over there or the awesome firefight my platoon won while I was looking elsewhere. I would like to play RT but be able to play back a saved game file.

Or even just a way to package the finished game into a file I can play back and rewind, whether it's RT or turn-based. I really enjoy seeing it all play out from different angles. Big part of the fun for me.

Howler reacted to rtdood in New Campaign Release! Operation Undergo - Gris Nez
    Hello,
Just wanted to let those that might be interested my campaign ‘Operation Undergo -Gris Nez’ has been finally released! It has been uploaded to the scenario depot and its ready to be downloaded (link is below). I have included some information too as to what it is about and basic requirements.
What do I need: CM:BN, CW, Market Garden and Vehicle Pack.
What forces will I command? 2 Canadian Infantry Battalions, Squadron of Sherman Tanks, 1 Troop of Churchill Crocodile, Petard and Sherman Flails (not all in the same battle do not worry 😉). And a tonne of artillery!
How is it meant to be played: Player (Canada) vs German AI
What size battles can I expect? About company strength for the most part. A third of the campaign is set at commanding battalion strength.
Type of maps: Typically reminiscent of the Calais region. Rolling hills, semi open, semi bocage semi woodland.
    Historical or not: Semi-Historical
How long is it? 10 or 11 battles
When does it take place: September ’44.
What do I get with it?
    - Northern Master Map
    - Southern Master Map
    - 25 page Campaign Design Booklet PDF including OOB
    - Picture of Battalion Company movements (was not able to include this in campaign briefing although it is useful for reference)
    - Campaign Progression Tables (Battle order)
Has it been tested? Yes. I have only been able to find people that have been in a position to try the first and second battles respectively – everything thereafter I have tested myself. I have gone through it fully about 7 or 8  times now and feel it is at a point for release.

Those that are familiar with the history of Undergo, particularly at Gris Nez will know roughly what to expect. I should mention this my first campaign that I have designed, and as such it does therefore commit some absolute cardinal sins over what really makes an effective engaging campaign, which I have learned from. That being said, if you want a campaign which follows the actions at Gris Nez as accurately as I could get them, well your about to experience the often-forgotten battles for the coastal garrisons in September of 1944.
    And finally…some pictures….

Has it put you off from making more campaigns: Absolutely not? Working on the next one already.

That sounds like there is a problem with hooking up to the shared menu. Does an uninstall / reinstall help any?

I think most here achieve this by plotting J (15s burst) or Y (light fire) at waypoints (short bounds of 1-2 actions spots). Insert pauses and the J / Y commands will switch/renew when it reaches a new target order at the next waypoint.
NOTE: Any target (Fire or Arc) commands can be inserted. One is not forced to plot a single waypoint 100m away. You can break that up into smaller distances and achieve a fairly effective recon by fire.
Where this breaks down is when the unit involved wishes to remain in place. But, if you can rock them back and forth over a distance of a single action spot... the above works.
Disclaimer: I'm a Luddite not wanting 'lazy' commands such as 'Shot & Scoot' or 'Halt and Fire'. There's already too much blamed on the TacAI as is. As long as everyone has the same toolkit (or limitations) - then we can blame each other (ie 'gamey play') rather than the engine.
Also, there is an realtime play mode where this isn't necessarily the same issue. We WEGO players sometimes forget this when posting.

    Dispersion and concealment.
Keep units far enough apart that a air strike can only get one at a time. Hide units under trees or tucked up close to buildings.
Keep AA units out in the open with clear fields of fire. Nothing is more disheartening than seeing your AA light up a forest…

It's one of it's strengths for sure. Every CM2 game function/feature is consistent across every title. Essentially, you learn the UI *once* and are able to apply it across the board. A new theater/period merely requires the player to understand the TOEs involved.

Personally, I'm fine with a CW module for FB and a UK/NATO/USMC module for CMBS (bonus if they add French forces).
Then repeat the aforementioned UK/NATO/French/USMC module for CW.
Then an early war in the east front.
    But, I'm only one guy/bot...

Also, one is ordered to take a position within 'X' time limit. And, not when one feels like it.
Playing with time is an option in design for balance... YMMV.

Select moving vehicle and cancel all pending waypoint(s). Select dismounts and click 'Dismount' to order. Select vehicle again and plot orders. Hit red button and you'll see the dismounts get off *before* the vehicle begins it's movement.
Dismount allows you to disembark from the vehicle *before* the vehicle does it's plotted orders. Otherwise, the troops dismount *after* the carrier (ie vehicle) has completed it's movement.

The other thing that sometimes causes problems is elevations, particularly when trying to blast building walls.  If the ground in the adjoining tile is slightly higher than the building, your troops will just go around and look for a door.  Best bet with your blast commands is to have show all moves toggled and check that your blast unit is showing a brown/blast rather than yellow/quick move before you hit the red button.  As I said earlier, it is annoying, it is fiddly and it should behave better than it does currently.
