Good interview.  From the payments he talked about regarding Steam and Slitherine, it seems they'll have to ~double sales to make this worth it.  So they must be expecting big sales increase, which also means much bigger community.  Good news for a weary world.
So no Abyssinia??¬† ūü§™¬† I don't think BFC will be spending time on obscure campaigns & TOE, which is OK by me.¬†
And I didn't know that Fortress Italy was basically financed by some wealthy CM fan.  If I win the lottery there will definitely be Ost Front 1941-43.  Or should I spend my money on speeding up CMX3?  Being rich must be hard, all these decisions.  Oh wait, I'll just fund both.

I have nothing but fun with this campaign.  Others disagree.  I never even noticed the PLT HQs could or could not call in fire because I don't like using such lower level units to call for arty (delays & accuracy) when there's anyone higher available.  And there was always someone higher available so was not an issue for me.
Sounds like I am going to be using a lot of arty as I get into Damascus.  Later, I hope I can get the contracts to rebuild what I destroy.  That would be a really good end-to-end business -- get paid to destroy things and then paid to replace them.

Second try on the counterattack and I got another tactical V w the enemy surrendering w a lot of time left.  So I'd say it's pretty well designed -- the enemy hit me hard even when I knew what was coming.
Now onto the nasty-looking next battle.  Looks like nice places for enemy to launch ambushes.

so this campaign is no good because it was too easy.  And now it's not good because it's too hard?  I actually have done the counterattack battle twice because I want to get better at how to run a defensive fight like this.  It's hard to not lose warriors unless I forego the warrior firepower (meaning hide them entire battle.  And it's hard to keep flanks safe because attacker uses multiple approaches.  So it's a tough fight.  I got tac V first try, probably not much better 2nd try which is nearly done.  It's a very interesting tactical situation.  It's more like the situation the Syrian infantry typically faces from me -- outgunned in less than advantageous terrain.

How difficult to kill the 20 Javelin inf teams that can be hidden anywhere over a 2.5Km front vs every MBT?
One has to remember that economically and logistically one can build about 31 Jav systems for every M1A1.  Then one can transport about 3,500 Jav's for the same weight as a MBT.
I love armor as much as any other armor fan.  But, just as with bows and arrows and horse cavalry, everything gets superseded at some point.  We can debate as to when.

losing 200K soldiers is easy in CM.  just give me 400K and give the enemy artillery and spotters and I'll do my usual impetuous, ill-advised moves.

that panther has the embarrassing "just been sherman-ed look".  a dozen+ frontal hits, some probably damaging main gun.

I thought "Syria 2008, how can that be fun?" -- I was wrong, so much fun, currently doing Highland Games
I thought "Russian front 1944 instead of 41-43, how can that be fun?"  -- I was wrong, absolutely epic battles!  T34-85 is such a good design compromise and what a difference maker on the battlefield.  Yes, of course, panthers are better, but I get lots of T34s.  Lots and lots.

Nope, my challengers are all safe.¬† Those are some beautiful machines ūü•į.¬† Maybe if Brits drop tanks we can pick up challengers cheap on craigslist.¬† Won't fit in garage but would look nice parked on the street.¬†
I am now on the mission w the road that curves around the big hill and I am ordered to set up a blocking position and clear a bunch of HQs & other military buildings.
I did succeed in Mission #4.  I think I got a tactical V.  Mission 5 was an utter disaster 3 minutes in, so I restarted at different setup position.  yes this is cheating, but it was such a ridiculous blunder and just barely started I don't feel too guilty.
I used realtime in the convoy mission also.  This may or may not have helped.  I lost two LAV and two trucks in that but got a major victory somehow.
really good stuff.¬† Playing the hundreds of hours of battles I haven't yet touched makes me forget to complain about F&R. ūüėÄ

I am really impressed w the imagination & effort that went into this campaign.  I am on battle #9 now.  I'm doing pretty well but have lost some scimitars & warriors along the way, usually ~1 per battle.  I am concerned this seemingly low attrition is more than I can afford, despite getting a victory every time.

A T-90 and a BMP-3 kept hitting this immobilized Abrams for about 3 minutes at a range of 600m - the T-90 ran out of APFSDS ammo and the BMP ran out of ATGM rounds.
    The crew eventually bailed out.
Notice the penetration hits inside the commanders cupola and all over the RWS.
