Question about multiplayer before I buy.

Sorry if this should go in a different location. I know you can email turns but can you do a game where you don't have to. Can you do a real time game where were both in the game at the same time moving our guys? Also is there co op working together vs ai or just 1v1? Also i'm guessing hamachi is what would have to be used?
