  1.  To be exact, war is a dark day for all mankind;

some people inexorably find themselves pulled to it

some ironically like a moth to the flame

some like energy and matter to a collapsed star, no light escapes.

To look in another beings eyes, see the suffering, the resentment, the hate...the despair...

to then turn around, sit down and play a game with it...well that takes some suspension or disregard of...something that's within us all...but I have nothing better to do...

These are mostly meant for H2H, but there's simple AI plans in there for QB's as well, just nothing fancy.

Just something I threw together in spare time, Hope you all enjoy. (as always, feedback on the maps is appreciated)

These maps that you linked are unbelievable.  I can't believe you've been hording these.

Can you specify what you mean by this?

Thanks! I slowly work on the maps as time and health allows. I overwrite the old with updated versions in the same folder.

Certain assets such as air, artillery, and C2 were specific to the timeline the game was designed around and not what the SAA actually went to war with a few years later. It's a limitation that makes the campaign a challenge to realize, it's why I put the maps up for the time being for people to mess around with. I do appreciate feedback.

First of all great to have you back! Hope all your RL issues got fixed. Just out of curiosity, are you planning on continuing work on the campaign?

Thanks! I'm slowly getting back into things. From what I've done thus far, I had to pause due to the number of TO&E substitutions I had to make in order to get the Tigers to perform somewhat like their rl counterparts. The biggest issue were the off map support assets and C2. Drove me bonkers. Once I can figure that part out, we're golden.

  4. In response to the thread topic:

Honestly, coming from a mapper/scenario designer perspective, you don't need the fictional stories. Just give us the tools and the world will provide us the stories to create scenarios and campaigns from. The TO&E. The included equipment and the ability to modify things to suit the scenario designer/player, e.g. Professional Edition type capability. The toys, man! It's all about the toys!

  5. Hello again everyone. RL took me away from gaming for awhile, but I'm back onshore now and getting the rusted old machine oiled up and dusted off. First step is to recover as much of my work as I can and then go from there. Getting back into the rhythm of life, yes?😑

Not a good ad for the protective abilities of a mask, then.  Poor lady...

At least she is free from the tyranny of the Burka.  My wife was on business in ME and had to wear a burka in certain places.  She absolutely hated it plus detested the reasons she and the other women were forced to wear em.

A Dr died fighting the virus and all you can think about is how to criticize her clothing? Really? You're not using your heart for what hearts are for.

IIRC there was more than one problem with the radios, so I don't think something got re-borked.  The problem came from the massive CMSF1 to CMSF2 data migration, which was a one time thing.  Had to do with the original CM2 TO&E data organization being different than everything post CMBN v1.  Lots of problems like the radio thing came about during the massive rewiring effort, but most were found and fixed during initial testing.  Obviously missed this one ;)

It was kinda an odd situation.  With the one I recently fixed it was mostly Blue forces that were affected.  Because the leadership elements are so often riding in style, they used the more powerful vehicle radios.  It was only noticeable when the HQ was dismounted and far enough away from their vehicle to lose C2 connection.  Which meant the absence of the radio was inconsistent and, therefore, less likely to be noticed.  IIRC the earlier problem was more of an across the board situation with some higher level variables, but I could be mistaken.

Great news! I hope that the thread I made on the topic helped ease your task in some small way. The radio bug really seems to affect a lot of Syrian formations.

Also, I don't know if it's related to the C2 stuff, but from the drone testing that was done, I discovered that if you assign a drone from the Blue TO&E to the red forces, it will only share contacts with the unit that called the drone. Nobody else on the red side sees the contacts.

What MikeyD said.  Sometimes those fixes are applicable to a specific title, sometimes all, and more often somewhere inbetween.  I can't even begin to say what has been fixed since the last round of patches because we are constantly tweaking and updating the code, artwork, and TO&E as problems are brought to our attention.  At this stage of the engine's maturity most of these fixes are very minor in the grand scheme of things, but still likely noticeable.

    Very nice, thank you. 🙏

It would be super nice if someone has the time/desire to ninja the 2S3 and BM-27 into SF2.😻

    An interesting article: Link below.

Back in 2015, Bill Gates published an editorial in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) warning that the world would likely see a pandemic in the next 20 years. He was writing in the aftermath of the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, and argued that while the world had an effective system for containing Ebola, it did not have adequate preparation for dealing with a disease with a substantially higher transmission rate. “[O]f all the things that could kill more than 10 million people around the world, the most likely is an epidemic stemming from either natural causes or bioterrorism.”

2015 is also when the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded Pirbright Institute began patenting corona virii...for research, etc.

October 18, 2019, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation sponsors Event 201 in NY.

Event 201 was sponsored by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the CIA, Bloomberg, John Hopkins Foundation and the UN.  The World Military Games opened in Wuhan on the exact same day.

    Strange times we live in...

By the way, where is ole Billy boy right now? I heard he cashed out or something...

  10. I've noticed that the drone contacts are not shared by the HQ with anyone else, do you see that as well? The only unit benefiting from them seems to be the HQ itself from my testing. Also, contact reporting in general seems to be broken between many radio equipped units. I have to do more testing, but this plays right into the broken radios issue I ran into while doing my Syrian campaign.

See what happens if you put the HQ back in the BMP or if the HQ is out of line of sight of the infantry (behind a wall or a hill or something). It might take a second or two for the C2 icons to update when you move them.

As a guess, everyone still has their radios but because they can now see the Pl HQ, they're now relying on visual signals in preference to the radio. IIRC, the icons at the bottom just indicate the means of contact that are being used, its not like an inventory.

No that's not the case, once the radios are gone, they're gone. Only verbal coms afterwards. You can monkey with the HQ and vehicles all you want after they disappear and it doesn't return the radios. You can try it yourself in the editor, just make the map big enough to put the squad out of LOS and you'll see.

I am not at my pc, but couldn't this mean, that they use the vehicle-radio, when inside of this vehicle?

    greetings, alex

No, not at all. Some screenshots are obviously in order to explain this better.

Going to the Deploy forces screen from within the editor shows the HQ already in the BMP,  radio icon visible.

  13. I am able to most easily replicate the issue with Syrian Airborne and a BMP 1. I can start a new battle in the editor, go to units and purchase a Syrian Airborne Infantry Battalion. Pick one of the infantry platoons and add a single BMP 1 to it. Select Deploy (blue/red) and then move that platoon HQ in and out of the BMP while checking the radio icons for the squads in that platoon. The radios vanish every time.
