  1. The submunitions can't defeat ERA, they do not have tandem charges. Also, improvement have been made to armor since the end of the cold war, the submunitions in US DPICM have not been modernized I believed.
  2. DPICM or would have a hard time against MBTs but against APCs and IFVs they would be effective. If you model the M483a1 or M864, there is about a 2% dud rate for the dud munitions that you have to be careful of if you maneuver through the impact area if you simulated UXO. I had some time as an FSO and FDO and we were told that HE/VT against armor in the hope to destroy optics or the barrel on an MBT when we made the fire support products. I also wish FO teams could process more than one mission, they are trained to process multiple missions.
  3. WP would be used to mark a target for aircraft in a SEAD. Alternatively, artillery could fire a "Shake and Bake" with 50% HE and 50% WP on an ASP or Fuel Dump.
  4. I like the modern setting for CM and I have played all the modules for CMSF, but I think that fire support and artillery in general need to be modeled more accurately. When calling in a fire mission, I think battlefront can have you select options much closer to what the MCWP 3-16.6 and FM 6-30 have in their procedures. When initiating a fire mission, the observer should have the following options: Adjust Fire Fire For Effect Immediate Smoke/Suppression The 2d transmission is where the target types, sheaf (linear, circular, box), etc can be specified. And the 3d transmission is where you can specify the number of volleys you want in the effect stage (By battery or battalion) or how long you want you smoke screen to last if you are calling in a smoke mission. I think artillery would be much more potent if it was implemented closer to US doctrine and it would provide the player a more realistic use of fires and maximize the fire support in the scenario. Being ignorant of actual programming, is this a significant change to the engine?
