  1. Do we know what the cost will be for someone that has SF1 and all the expansions? I apologize if this info is easily available elsewhere.
  2. I inderstand what your saying/where you're coming from. Being able to make decisions on such fine scale would undermine the value of more experienced troops. If you could always determine exactly what they would do, what's the point beyond morale?
  3. No, it wasn't poor. However, you are not talking about TacAI. You are talking about extra decisions that can be made by the player. Which is contradictory to your initial post (good natured contradiction on my part, I assure you!) My point is, its not cumbersome, but a key part of what makes CM what it is. Split off a scout team and they take fire? If they are vets they survive much longer than they should. If not...you only lost two men. Hard decisions make wego what it is. I won't disagree with anyone that the oddities that crop up via AI could use some tweaking. But, on the whole, it feels good.
  4. I would argue that it is a contradiction to BF's core theory. You are already godlike with control over your troops. The beauty of WeGo is you push the button and roll the dice. Not sure about enemy locations? Split off a scout team. Not to sound harsh, but you're asking to be able to make hasty decisions and not be penalized for it.
  5. Wow. Allow me to interject, if I may. As someone who sits solidly in the middle of the road here, I think Pericles point is that the changes that have been made to the CMx2 series are really only fully appreciated by those that have have been around to see the iterative impact on game play in an immediate fashion. If you fall in to that category, congratulations. No cookies to give you at the moment though. Believe it or not, Battlefront does acquire new customers. This "game" requires a lot of buy-in to get past the demo stage. Believe you me, I've tried. Even my TT gamer buds say nah. I for one LOVE the system. Which is what it is. You play by the same set of core rules no matter the theatre. You have to play any version of the game for a decent amount of time before you would even notice the difference. ToE notwithstanding.
  6. Looks pretty cool. Any chance you have yet another link to that documentary or something specific (title or something along those line) I can search for?
  7. Anyone know whats up with the orange exclamation point? That's a new one for me...
  8. After having a little time to play with it, I'd say the thing I notice most is the lack of functionality with regard to selecting forces for scenarios. The QB thing is what it is, but the changes from then 'til now in the force selection arena are pretty striking. The camera movement issue was addressed with the last patch (which for some reason the demo still has issues with). That was going to drive me nuts, but luckily, a non-issue. Overall, the actual game play differences are almost nil. Not to say it doesn't play differently, but no differently than would be expected.
  9. To be honest the QB's in all the other titles aren't that great anyway. Unless you pick the force for the AI and attack, it'll be pretty damn boring/pointless anywho. Black Sea is OK. I think for the rest they just need to have combined arms "lists" that the AI picks from much like whats available in BS, unless you specifically forbid the AI from doing so. Not much in to mp for these titles cause if I wanna play a human it's time to bust out the tape measures and dice and put ye ol gaming table in my basement back to work which I don't do often enough (CM hasn't helped that one iota ;))
  10. Well, I bought the whole package. Chris saying that 4.0 will eventually make it's way to SF gives me hope that this title will stick around. I bought the base game for 15 bucks, messed around with it a bit, and that was enough to convince me to pick up the bundle of modules. Which, by the way, was indeed the same price as the mac version (I saw save 35). $55 for the whole kit 'n caboodle. It's my berfday so what the hell?
  11. I guess the heart of the issue is this: as someone who is completely used to engine 3, will stepping back to v1 be too frustrating without nostalgia goggles on?
  12. Is there anything particularly frustrating/backwards about it? I've played the demo for a bit and the camera movement compared to the v3 games is annoying me. I sadly didn't discover Battlefronts offering until about a year and a half ago. So, I only have experience with the v3 engine really. I've been a miniature table-top gamer for about 26 years now and these games are a dream come true with that perspective. On PC the base game plus the bundle of the modules is the same price as the mac version. Edit($5 cheaper actually)
  13. In comparison to the more current games, is Shock Force worth picking up? It and Afghanistan are the only two CMx2 games I don't own.
  14. On the topic of Chris and live streams, did anyone catch on the latest (CMFB release) that 4.0 will eventually make it to SF?
  15. Any of the above would work for me. If you have a preference for any or have something in particular you wanted to play lemme know! Gave me an excuse to set up my dropbox account that I got a bunch of free space for when I bought a laptop a while back. I haven't gotten away from TT gaming yet. Lots of work and time but, I still enjoy the social and hobby aspect of that stuff. Every minute I spend play CM is one I should be working on the mountain of lead in the "to do" pile that grows on a monthly basis. Someday I'll get caught up
  16. Thank ya sir! So the new repository will in fact be here http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/? Friday night libations + CMFI = laughing waay too hard at this. I've been having a caption contest in my head...
  17. A little backstory may be in order. I found CM almost exactly a year ago based on a recommendation from a table top miniature game (Flames of War) Facebook group. Downloaded all of the demos and the next day went all in on the CMBN bundle+3.0. Love at first sight. Life got in the way and since as of yesterday I'm now CMx2 complete. My quandary is the apparent transition from battlefront.com resources to tFGM and their subsidiaries. Was looking to stir up some PBEM opponents. Am I supposed to do that here, or over at tFGM? I've watched all of Chris's streams via youtube and it seems to that BF is still going to have their own repository in place? Any help is appreciated. Moral of the story is I'd love to get some PBEM opponents and although it's super obvious that posting here might garner the results I seek, there is a "New Repository and Opponent Finder!"
