javelin is like, wait for power up.. point... take a picture of the target and lock, and press the trigger no ? The observation capabilities seems to be a little more complicated though
-
Well. Very eloquently said John.. Lots of river in Russia/Ukraine so I guess it make sense
-
Same with the CROWS on the tank, the only vehicle .50 cals that were firing the wrong ammo was the HMMWV.
BMP-3 makes major protection compromises to fit the 100 MM, 30 MM, ammo and autoloader, the rifle squad, and the ability to swim. It isn't a very well armored vehicle, and it is filled with things that explode impartially.
That ability to swim and operational mobility comes at a high price. I'm not sure its Worth it. Bridging equipment does exist and they are sitting ducks while swimming. Better to have stronger armor .
-
Hmm si the tripod .50 and .50 on strykers were using the right ammo then.
-
From the sides yes. 8mm or something .. 7.62 AP will penetrate that
-
.50 in the current build use mk211 ammo which can penetrate 50-60mm easily. That will be fixed in the patch. Belt fed .50 will then use normal AP rounds which have a much lower penetration and so the BTR and BMP will be .50 proof from the front. Only the M107 anti-material rifle will use the MK211.

The performance of Duplet ERA will be tweaked in the patch. I'm not involved in that testing so I don't know what the practical effect will be.
More effective against tandem warheads

talking of picking up other nation's equipment,. I like this one

Damn spellcheck on my phone lol
Buying government bonds does help the cash flow of the seller nation

afganit wont make russian tanks invincible to everything .. I highly doubt they can intercept sabot rounds. But i remain confident it should be able to deal reasonably well with the Javelin. But lets see how it pans out. Golden & Sachs recommended buying russian government bonds and the ruble is back up so it doesnt turn out as dire as forecasted or wished. I was going to say you like your russians tanks easy to kill but I will refrain I can understand that.
And i'm not saying implement it in the next patch or first module. Let's see first. If it turns out its too much for the rooskies, then it wont be in. They are already challenging enough when played by someone who knows what he's doing.

Bah you play with no rarity.. Missiles will be useless, back to anti tank guns lol and btw im talking in game not in RLAgain, the impossibru wasn't that something would show up to the parade, it was how real/operational the thing would be, and how fast it would enter service. The jury is still very out on those questions, and the various follow-on ERA/APS systems. Having Afganit as anything common would really genuinely take some major movements happening now/the next few months, otherwise at best if it were included, it should closely resemble the US APS in terms of rarity and cost.
Asserting that it's going to be common enough to balance the playing field is a bitch of a massive reach to put it mildly.

Cover .. Fast move order.. Pause for 15 seconds, target briefly reverse into cover .. Repeat
-
How the f... Does that thing work
-
You need a higher HQ for info sharing between units with different lower order HQs
-
Yeah, but it's not like we'll go from not even Arena to every T-90 has Afganit overnight. If we're seeing mass fieldings soon, then man, yeah 2017 it's going to be a common thing, but if it's 2016 and all we have is "soon!" and some samples at a weapons expo, then it's pretty much not happening on a scale worth discussing outside of something that'll eat up your rarity budget with two tanks.
I agree. What i'm saying is this: its supposed to be part of Armata and can be retrofitted. For all we know its already installed and working on the tanks that we saw rehearsing for the may 9th parade. We'll know then or at least in a couple of weeks if it exists. If the Russians are going to fight NATO you can bet it would be fielded in numbers. Same as " you can bet that if the US is going to fight Russia, we will buy and install Trophy overnight and in #s". The game is a what if and set in alternate reality. Its a reasonable assumption to make.
-
Not really so much. Right now it's about as realistic as Trophy is on US vehicles. If it starts getting fielded in number, then maybe it'll be time to put it in the game at all, but right now its jogging along of the Armata lines of existing, but some major questions exist to if it'll be in service in a reasonable amount of time. By no means should it replace Arena unless in a few months we're seeing significant first fieldings or something.
The key words being eventually.. I'm talking in a year's time or more .. Still two years before 2017. A lot will be known about it during that time period
-
Anyway arena is old already and wont be deployed massively . Afganit is much better and can intercept the Javelin and according to the russians will be deployed massively and can be installed on any vehicule. Arena is in the game because there's data about it and afganit is still a mystery. Once we know more about it, it should replace Arena in the game in a future module or patch. That should solve the javelin balance issue in a realistic way.

I ve done it many times in WWII titles , infantry detecting tanks then sending then near m'y own tanks and tell them where to look.. Gives them a spotting bonus.
-
T-72 and t-90A spot faster with thé commander unbuttoned and they are not as vulnerable to small arms as believed. It gives them a better chance against the Abrams
-
russian infantry is already powerful at close quarter against tanks. With the weak RPG-26 as a backup. Imagine with RPG-28s (pet peeve of mine, I know).
Javelin is good but long acquisition times, The target could be gone in that time. You can only fire two javelins in 1 mins. A lot can happen in 30 seconds and the russians have good enough enough optics to make that deadly to the javelin crews. It is only 50% effective against targets with overhead cover. Its not the uber weapon it was in CMSF.
AT-13 can fire 4 missiles in the same minute. At-14 almost as much. And the AT-14 complement available at bataillon level (6 launchers) in wooded higher ground and in trenches can ruin an M1A2 platoon's day even from the frontal aspect. I've done it many times.
US weapons are more forgiving of unskilled players. But a skilled russian opponent can really mess up your day (even a skilled A.I plan). It will be even worse with the patch. The Russian IFVs will finally be effective at spotting and engaging in a timely matter and will all be equipped with the powerful 30mm sabot. T-90s will be beefed up at the hull front and sides. The M1A2 turret side ERA will be useless against tandem warheads. You need to learn how to play the different sides. That's what makes this game so fun.
APS for the US should come at a high rarity price though (and it will be in the patch) That can really tip the balance and make the Russian side almost unwinnable against a human opponent. You want APS ?Prepare yourself to fight with few forces, giving a chance for the Russian player to win the game if he knows what he's doing.

of course it will... would look silly, the chain guns looks like a teenager in bed in the morning
-
RPG-28 with 1000mm after ERA is a must to kill the Abrams then but overkill on anything else than western MBTs. Bulkier and heavier too. I guess it would be widely issued if there is a war against NATO to replace the puny RPG-26. Better to be tired than dead. Right now, russian infantry rely on the AT-13 at the company level and AT-14 at the battalion level to kill the ABRAMS. RPG-28 would make every squad lethal to it. Right now russian squads are only marginally dangerous for the Abrams.
-
The M1A2 SEP v2 and M1A2 SA have DU inserts in the turret sides that raise it a little higher than that.
I used steel beast PE #s . so maybe 600-650mm then .. Makes it almost immune to RPG-7 105mm (650-700mm with/without ERA)
