    What I usually do is save the image as PNG, then make a copy of an original BMP from the game, edit the copy in paint and paste the PNG over it. Then I rename the file. Works every time.

    Hello Simicro!
    CM:A is one of my favourite games, and is the one I'm mostly playing these days. 
    The game is definitely an oldie, and it comes with it's problems I will detail now, but first let me tell you it runs just fine in modern systems with high resolution. 
    The stock campaigns are somewhat broken in my opinion. Refit is a bit random and you can find your troops out of ammo starting a mission, even if the last one was one or two months ago. The 40th army had its supply issues but not that bad!
    Soviet squads tend to be quite small, specially later in the war, sometimes 5 men strong, so they are quite brittle.
    Models and textures are quite low resolution, there are mods that improve textures but the game is not as easy to mod as later ones, so mods are limited. I'm doing some mods myself that will post in the future.
    The community is quite small compared to newer games so there is not much new content.
    If you are a content creator, be aware that the map editor is not as robust as in newer games, lacking some features, most notably there are no overlay feature.
    As for bugs and glitches, nothing game braking for sure. The only glitch that comes to mind is the late war para models have a graphics glitch on the shoulder that messes up the model and the textures. 
    But if you are interested in the Soviet Afghan war, the flaws are easily overlooked.  Gameplay is fun and you have to take care of your troops like in all modern games. And you can't beat that price tag!

    I think you can move it to the data folder and rename it aaa so it will load before the default. The Z folder is there so it's the last thing it will load, but mods just need to be in the data folder. 
    This won't work with uniform mods that have more variants than the stock game. 
    But in the end it's best just to move it out of the game directory entirely.

    You can move it back out of the Z folder and store it somewhere else (I have transfer folders partly for doing this on my desktop).  It's a bit of a pain but not so bad for one or just a few mods.
    I was going to suggest renaming it so that it loads first but the other version then loads later (the opposite of the zzzzz naming trick) but as you want the stock version it's not a mod, so that wouldn't work in this case.
    There might be other suggestions, but moving it is a definite workaround.

    yes, you can. You just choose to have the priority to the Italians having French names, French ranks and speaking French since the human player is on that side. The use of Italian mortar crew is just a few guys and they WILL be in German helmets, uniforms. But the small crew will have French names, French ranks and speak French. NO BIG WORRY!

    Congratulations to everyone involved for the release, specially to kohlenklau!
    I was reading the scenario creation PDF, and was wondering, if a scenario is designed to be played as the French only, can you still purchase the Italian mortar for the Germans and the Italian tank for the French?
    Maybe I should just give it a try myself, but I'm guessing the Italian infantry will be wearing a different uniform than the Italian tank crew? And if you are playing as the french, the language used by one or two mortar units in the opposing side shouldn't really break things too much?

    A modder that I will name and thank later has some new German uniforms headed our way for this mod. It sounds like they will really give off the 1940 vibe we need.

    It would be a big ego boost if a hundred people said they wanted this humble mod...or any of my other mods.
    Possibly folks consider it as amateur and half-*** or not the real deal if not made by BFC.
    But as I always say they are free and worth every penny.

    Ok sorry I was perhaps a little to quick to let the link to everybodys, this was normaly only reserved for @Falaise that were asking me to added this sign for the goumiers only, so, we have to make a decision of whisch modtag we will added.
    So these files are Only if you want to use 2 kinds of helmets with cressents and RF letters for the goumiers in CMFI.
    so you can also use only ONE if you want !
    Later we will probably added a modtag but untill now we dont decide it !!
    So this will be perhaps better to

    The circuits are jammed with the volume of incoming calls! YEAH, RIGHT!!!
    I think only a few of my buddies are following this and that is bloody good enough for me.

    Well, it took me 4 rum and cokes to get this damn helmet badge to even show up properly.
    Alpha layers act up awful and the entire helmet just vanishes.

    Well welcome back, that's a tough story. 
    I'm playing all CM2 WW2 titles on a laptop with slightly higher spec:
    Intel i7 6700HQ, with GTX1060.  No issues with the games at all.
    Afghanistan is CM1 so should be less of a burden I think.
    Hopefully others will come along to confirm or deny...
