I'm offended that I need to have a computer to play this game. That's not "fair". I should be able to buy the disk and not need anything else.

Game came out last year and is considered "so old". Man that feels so depressing to hear as I get closer to retirement. Listen youngster, get off my lawn dangnabbit! As soon as I get my teeth back in I'll tell you what expensive is, why back in my day.......

The denstiy depends upon what you're used to. A lot of the western European forests are really just tree gardens. (IMO) They've been so heavily controlled and managed that they have more in common with gardens than forests. OTH, I've been in primordial woods which are also very open. The age of the woods makes a big difference in their density.

A freshly cut zone (several year) will have riotous growth. Mature woods will have "winners" which have choked out the "losers". It'll have large, mature, trees spaced equidistant, with little to no undergrowth. The winners keep the sunlight for themselves. The edges of woods still have the fight going on, so there should be very dense growth in the ~30m zone on the edges of woods.

That's where I'd put triple trees.

Douglas Ruddd reacted to fivefivesix in Stryker 1/35 model build
I started this project more than a year ago. At the time, I was playing a lot of Shock Force and was thus inspired to put some aftermarket slat armor on. Well, the slat armor didn't work out (anyone who has succeeded with that, good on you).

So, I ditched the slat and just went for the general armor-less build. I thought about putting some ERA blocks on to mimic a "Black Sea" up-armored M1126 styled variant, but couldn't find any decent kits.

After some digging around, I found a unit that appeared to operate slat-cage-less Strykers in Afghanistan at some point in 2009, so that is what this one became a tribute to.

After putting the finishing touches on tonight, I am pretty happy with the outcome. I am definitely still learning a lot with modeling. A few mistakes here and there, a few things I would have done differently. Thankfully all the images of Strykers in Afghanistan show these vehicles just plastered with dust and sand, so heavy weathering was helpful to hide any blemishes.

Anyway, any critique or comments would be welcome!

Fulda Gap '80's would be my secondary choice.

#3 would be Eastern Front 1943 - I'd love to recreate the Kharkov battles ( probably has the best chance of seeing the light of day in the next couple of years )

I *think* what OP is asking about is a WW2 turn based game that lets you control individuals sorta like X-Com.

Yes, there is such a game, but it's old. It's called 101st, The Airborne Invasion of Normandy. I remember playing it back when it was released, and still have it in a box in my basement, along with dozens of other games that I haven't played in years.

Found a YouTube video that supposedly shows the gameplay (haven't watched it myself):

From what I remember (and this was many beers ago) it was a decent game and I enjoyed playing it for a month or so. I have no idea if it is still for sale or if it would run on a modern PC.

Should have known the British military would use "Tardis" technology in some form or fashion. Makes me wonder about their rucksacks if they can do that with a ration box.

So while BFC was busy improving their game to remove borg spotting to make the game more life like the US army was busy bringing borg spotting to life.  How's that for irony.

When should BFC start to develop a CMx3 engine?

Whenever they feel it is the right time for them to develop a new engine.

Personally I can live with the 'old' engine for years. Same way I was able to live with the CMx1 engine for years.

Nothing else available comes within a asses roar of CMx2 at the moment or even CMx1 for that matter.

The Armata is so awesome, Chuck Norris even worships it.
Actually, it is a little known fact the Armata program is actually self aware. That's right - its actually Skynet . And  on August 28th, 2015, it will initiate a nuclear war between Russia and the West. Russia will obviously win (Armata knows this, so is doing the Motherland a huge favor) and will take over the world with its self-aware Armata tanks, which are impervious to nuclear warheads, Kim Kardashian, and heavy metal music.

I've gone far enough off the reservation. Its time for me to stop...

Douglas Ruddd reacted to Parker Schnabel in More Bulge Info! (and a few screenshots...)
Isn't BFC at every opportunity emphasizing loudly that only they know what is good for business, when customers make suggestions?
IIRC it was already around December that they had announced that Bulge was developed parallel with Black Sea and therefore that Bulge was claimed to be more or less already almost done and only the artistic finetuning was taking place.
Now we are almost three months later, no graphical and atmospheric improvements at all even torwards CMFI can be seen, tactics and realism will not be improved, because the engine will stay the same and one week or so ago we learned, that they not even have started to work on new features for the engine.

Strangely those "pissing and moaning" customers will naver be satsified...

Mark Twain once wrote his paper to inform them: "The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated."

To those who have expressed concern for my health and well-being, my thanks and I will reply to you individually as soon as I can get my e-mail program to send as well as receive. For all of you who may be interested, I will write a more detailed report as soon as I can and post it in the GF, which is I think a more appropriate forum for such discussions. But not to keep you in too much suspense, I will say here that on the 26th. of March I was struck by a pickup truck which resulted in 11 broken ribs and a broken clavicle (no, that is not a baroque musical instrument). Since then I have spent five days in hospital and about two and a half months in a nursing facility and only arrived home today. I am in pretty good shape due to some good rehab work by some dedicated people. More later.
