  1. This means I do need 3.0? Sorry for hijacking this, will open own thread if next reply doesn't fix my issue. But I installed FI on a clean machine, then installed 4.0 full. Now, after activating and pressing "play" the activation window opens without any buttons to click, I just see the tank firing which is the background, and can't click on anything. I can only end the Programme. Cheers
  2. I have a similar problem, I am stuck in the activation screen, after activation is ok. Did you install 3.0 before? I am back in CM after many years, and I installed 4.0 over 1.0. Could that be a problem? Cheers
  3. Thanks, it was the spam folder eating the reset Emails. C
  4. Hi, Haven't played CM for years, tried to/had to reset my pw but after a day of waiting, still haven't received a link. I was just dropping by to hear if that is normal, since I wanted to get the sale for the 4.0 upgrade bundle. Cheers, C
  5. Just logged in for this discussion after a long while... Does anyone have, on a side note, a good online recognition guide available for contemporary Russian vehicles, going into depth with all the versions currently floating around? Completely OT: Since I rarely drop by. Does anyone also happen to know a thread about the future road of CM? There doesn't seem to be one general CM2 Forum, rather lots of subforums dedicated to the single modules. Cheers, A
  6. aw, man. I come out of hiding once in a few years and you make sure that I will always be remembered for this typo :-( On a serious note though: He would probably attack in the same formation as he does already. His Inf can't spend its time and energy with rearrangements, neither can his JT due to risk of bogging. So he will attack in the same order. You on the other hand are a completely different story, you could completely rearrange your defense on the next line. The only reason why Baneman is acting, and you are reacting, is because baneman probably has a fairly good idea what he is up against and can use his JT accordingly. He can't say that if he losses contact and has to reestablish it at the next line. Cheers
  7. Another lutker here. Following with great interest and love it so far. But a question that made me end my lurker existence: Have you considered falling back to your next line of defense? In your Decision making you concluded that the terrain gets more favourable the further in depth you are fighting. Also, you would nullify his intel he has so far, by forcing him to start all over at the next line. A new chance to flank his JT and even more exhausted infantry fighting in the open, no? Cheers. Great AAR writing!
  8. After I was busy with university, I finally uploaded Part 3. For those of you who watched my videos so far: Thank you, and sorry for the long wait! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXM5mVVOUPY As always, crticism is appreciated. cheers, A
  9. Just uploaded Part 2 of the DAR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtZ4engcUg0 Enjoy. Feedback appreciated.
  10. Hey Womble! Thank you very much for your comment! Yes, the low score came surprising to me too. I am thinking about revising the rating system and might reup a new video. This was very much a test run for "first time editing a bigger project". nevertheless, I think when the overall score is a little low, we would need to have a look at the single categories and their scores. And I don't think that any particular category score feels off. Also, I wanted to make a cut with other review magazines, where anything below a 7 (or 70%) is basically not happening. I absolutely agree with your point here: For this reason I have taken down the review and will do a new one in due time. You are right. Many of the things that I did not mention came to me too late, and I wasn't sure how to "retro-upgrade" the already edited video. But I agree that it should be mentionet that..... This is something for the content segment, good point: After rewatching the vid, I did not omitted the two other camera control methods. I just did not address them in detail. Good point. I explained in my "how I rate" video the...well...rating system. But I should be more consistent. Edit: And don't expect people to actually watch it. I thought about how to "introduce" the CM series, and am still quite unsure how to. The whole "base module-patch-add-on" relationship might be something over the top, but the customer should be aware about a non-standart retail-system...I know you agree, I am just wondering how much in-depth this explanation should go. Thank you Womble Really appreciated! The criticism is very justified. I will try and better organize the review itself beforehand the next time, many things that didn't got the love it deserved didn't got it because I have not properly structured the review and was more focused on getting my **** done in the editor. Lesson learned! BTW: What do you guys thing in general of the "wargame specific" approach in reviewing? Is that something you would be interested in watching, instead of talking about graphics, rather talk business and have a look at specific "wargame characteristics"? I certainly have more respect now for professional reviewing magazines ;-) Cheers, A
  11. Sorry, there was an upload error, hence I had to reup it a few minutes ago :-) Sorry for the inconvenience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5W4mX2Megs&feature=youtu.be there you go! Cheers
  12. Thanks again! I have now uploaded my review for BfN. I know it has many issues (sound, editing, structure etc pp.) but this is my very first attempt in creating such a review. Feedback always appreciated. http://youtu.be/gxw6eays0jg Cheers
  13. Thank you all for trying to shed some light onto this issue. Yes I think The manual does indeed a poor job in elaborating the mechanisms. I totally agree! I was just wondering what the incentive actually is to perform buddy aid, except for the "realism". I think it would be great if only half of the points would be alocated for a WIA, and double the VPs for a POW. Dedicated Medical Teams would be also a nice thing to have..... to an extend, the WIAs become available in the campaign again, since according to the manual, 50% of the WIAs turn into KIAs, the rest becomes available again. Regards, A
  14. Hey all, Just played a QB and wondered wheather the WIA status is relevant in terms of victory point calculation, or if they are carried over in campaign games return as reinforcements at some point? Thank you, A EDIT: Just found the relevant pages in the manual. I had a typo in my search term, sorry. Still: What about Campaign games?
  15. @ sfhand, Bulletpoint Thank you for your feedback, aaaaaaaallways appreciated and very much welcome. This is my very first "Let's Play", or YT upload to that extend, and I am still experimenting. Maybe I chose this scenario because it looks a little like a wargaming table, since I have a tabletop background (Flames of War) and wanted to try a "generic" scenario first. Hope you will enjoy it anyway. I will take your criticism into account Regards, A
  16. Hey fellas, I have never been very active in this forum but allways appreciated the dedication the developers and members show for the game. I was hoping I could pay a little back by providing a bit more "Media Exposure" for this game and our hobby in general by creating a (-nother) Youtube Channel that is dedicated to wargaming. The first videos that are going up is a PBEM of the Loamshire Scenario (Commonwealth Forces). A BFN Review will also follow during the next week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRV3nhy2TeA hope you enjoy it, A
  17. Hey all, the help is very much appreciated and I am trying to implement the suggestions. Me and my opponend decided in the meantime to go for another scenario (CW Loamshire). but there are still enough gaps for me to cross ;-)
  18. Thanks guys! And apologieze to Bil, that really slipped me, must be the Jet lag still... Well then, that's settled! I was just hoping to grab a few tipps before I play against the german player in the scenario "bloody dawn". A few open fields there to cross and a few forrest Obj too.... guess in the end I was just hoping to get around micro managing and reattaching many small teams ;-) Thanks again! A
  19. Thanks for your advise Bil, I am not saying that spreading out in iself is gamey, just that a Squad should be able to move in proper formation and spreading, even without spliting into teams. But i will probably do that then... what about the leader bonus though? splited teams no longer benefit from their former SL, correct? regards, A
  20. Hello community, After I cane back from a long business trip, I yearned for some CM and downloaded 3.0. The first minutes of playing and asking a friend to play a PBEM Scenario brought up an old question: How not to bunch up? I would love to see the option to choose formations, but since we are still far away from that (at least as far as I know) I wanted to ask you for advice. I rather would not see a Coy again, that is crossing open ground in a column. I know that many of you like to split teams. I always thought that is a little gamey. If the Squad Leader fails to lead his men properly, he deserved it ;-) On the other hand, and that was always my major concearn, doesen't splitting up also mean they loose the Leader Bonus of their SL, even if they stay relativeley close together? While we're on the subject: Does any of you play Germans and apply proper "Stoßtrupp" doctrine? Splitting all the Squads and rearranging them is probably the only way of doing that... Regards, A
  21. Further reading on this issue, including all the terms: http://www.navy.mi.th/navedu/stg/databasestory/data/laukniyom/ship-active/big-country-ship/United-States/ATP/atp63.pdf Sincerely
  22. I used the Screenshot method prvided by IrfanView. No better results. However, my neighbour just came over to wave a white flag(literally) at my frontdoor. He had no AT assets left and saw no option of destroying my Sherms. Still I´d like to share the finishingscreen with you. The hero of the day is the Daimler II in the centre, commandet by Corporal Garden. 26 confirmed kills. He was the only survivor of this vehicle. In case I fix the screenshot issue, I will start a new AAR on the next mission (Meeting Engagement, SS VS his majesty´s finest) and will provide you with SITMAPS and action shots alike. Anyway, thanks for such a nice welcome to the Forum!
  23. Thank you very much ian, that was helpful. I make the screenshots with the alt+print. Then Ctrl V to paste it into IrfanView or paint. Windows 7, nothing fancy.
  24. Thats what I´m trying to say, the resolution goes down the moment I paste the shot into Irfanview or Paint to save it. And the trees disappear also, but appearently only the ones from a specific distance onwards. While I have the chance, I´d like to ask a few questions. this is just my fourth game, and first as the attacker. Question1: How do you use the open up command? My Recce guys drove forward but even on pretty high distances in 3 times out of 4, the commander dies the moment small arms fire is opened up. And all that without even getting some "unknown" markers on the map. Any suggestions on that? (maybe don´t even use it or only when not moving?) Question 2: The manual seems not to mentin anything on the exact effects on subsystems(e.g. Weapon controls, optics). Does anybody know their exact effects? Question 3 I bought an motorized Rifle Platoon which is appearently....not motorized. The moment they were on the map I had to note that they came along with not a single vehicle. Is there a source with all the TOE´s? E.g., where can I find out what the difference is between the two Sherman regiments in the Purchase Screen, except of buying both and than compare them Coy by Coy, and Tank by tank? It would be great if you can open up the datasheets of the Vehicles your are about to buy in the purchase screen....
