Amazing to me what the modders can get up to and Kohlenklau has presented
a master class.  Next job is to go through the scenario creation documentation there
are so many scenario possibilities.  Many thanks for this.

sgt. squarehead with a potential breakthrough.  opened up bir hakiim in the editor, went to save it.
it asked if i wanted to overwrite it (?).  i said yes and voila it appears in the scenario list now in game.
kohlenklau your brain can rest.  interesting that it asked to overwrite.  so it was there i just couldn't

I'm hopeful of designing a scenario or two after I poke around a bit.
I'm confused though in that none of the FR40 scenarios that I've put in the scenarios folder seem to be accessible in game.
More investigating needed.   This is my dream game (unless BFC does a WWI variant

I don't have a powerpoint presentation nor a flipchart but here is my pitch.
CMEW Combat Mission Early War
A war gamer kit.
This is designed to snag that segment of the market using as little of Charles' time as possible.
It will be a lot of "some assembly required" and a lot of "mods required" and fan content based.
It can ship without any scenarios or campaigns.
It should be based off CMFI as that title has lots of nations for each side.
Cram pack each side with all existing vehicles and as many of what I call place holders as possible.
Place holder Vehicles IN THE CODE to try and be the early war vehicles and match to an existing mdr but we could mod to be PzI, tankettes, etc. A vehicle with just an MG and light armor on tracks for example.
The scenario editor would be used to mix and match sides as needed for Spanish Civil War, Winter War, Poland 39, Norway, Invasion of France, Sea Lion, Barbarossa, North Afrika.
It would be designed to be able to try and replicate a wide range of "early war" confrontations AFTER modded.

Flynn is a disgrace, in the same ranks as Ritter and MacGregor. The fact that anyone takes their opinion seriously is bewildering. I think these guys appeal to the 'low information' types who consume news as a form of snack food.

How can these idiots not see that if Russia’s threats succeed, the risk of nuclear war in future increases exponentially? Making sure these threats fail, and that Russia knows that everything gets worse for them if they employ nuclear weapons is the only hope for maintaining the “taboo” against their use beyond existential defense of the homeland.

Honestly, I’m a big fan of what Elon Musk is doing in the space flight arena, but I wish he would SHUT UP about Ukraine!  You can’t be an expert at everything Elon.

Perhaps in politics and war not everything is always quite so simple. Trump’s signal of withdrawal and other such past precedents were certainly not universally applauded as wise strategy. But there it was, handed to an incoming President with a clock of a few months ticking away. One should never forget that management focus in any organization, large or small is a scarce resource. Among the various scenarios bandied about, a not unreasonable one is a mixture of a bad hand deprioritized and handed to the quick and dirty “it’s going to be a mess but you guys are stuck with it” C or D or worse team. Because a storm is coming, NATO is in shambles, we have a pandemic killing hundreds of thousands, and an economy that is once again teetering (except for the stock market!). The military is worn by decades in a no-win not a war again nation building futile exercise. And Europe is a greater strategic and national interest than that Graveyard of Empires. So that’s our immediate priority focus overseas. Tough decisions, never guaranteed to be right until the dust settles. Pretty clear the new USA Admin was repairing European relations and sharing intelligence well ahead of the storm of the century in Europe. And it looks as if Afghanistan was viewed as a write off - just as the in the previous Administration. It is an ugly ugly world. We end up grabbing our Bright Moments when and how we can.  
 
I must say how good and pleasant it is to see the USA unequivocally backing the good guys.
 
 

I concur and it is also refreshing to see the resuming of the role as a unifying force behind NATO and successfully clearing possible roadblocks to see the possible addition of two new members.

Biden was criticised heavily for the sudden withdrawal from Afghanistan, end of August 2021, last year. It could have been done better, agreed, but the theory I have is that the US had very early intel that the Russians were going to invade Ukraine. In the US book this was home turf, as compared to Afghanistan, and the US didn't want to be "deployed" in 2 conflicts at the same time. Hence the immediate pull out in Afghanistan. Biden never said why it was done, but then he wouldn't.

Lest anyone forget, the indigenous people of the Americas are still dealing with the forced migrations and "reservations" they were moved to.  As recently as 1976 the US was still doing forced sterilization of native women according to our own General Accounting Office.

Barbarity is not unique to Russia.  Humanity's track record for treating each other humanely is spotty at best.

I can't imagine being angry at Kraze. I have spend all my anger on the Russians after Bucha and Irpin and everything else they did. Just as I can't imagine being empathic with Russians suffering - I have spend all my empathy on the Ukrainians.
Everytime I see someone angry at a Ukrainian, I wonder, are they angry at Russians too, or are they ok with them? Every time I see someone empathizing with Russians, I wonder, are they not empathizing with the Ukrainians?

Agree completely. Just replace "russians" with " 1942 Germans" and think if any of your issues with kraze's rhetoric are still problematic. Yes, there's a lot collectively wrong with russians, ultimately it is their culture ( understood anthropologically) that time and again is enabling aggression and genocide, same as was the case with imperial/ Nazi Germany and imperial Japan (and many other). There's nothing racist in pointing that out.
Even outside the Ukraine itself, West's strategy now is to inflict pain and costs on Russia as a whole, which means first and foremost on your average "innocent" russian. Yeah, it's ugly, and yeah, that's how war between nation states works and there's no way around that. If anything, Ukrainians are showing a remarkable restraint so far, refraining from indiscriminately shelling Belgorod for example. 
To be honest, I personally don't feel fine with both of these notions on emotional level, but this is a problem of our sensibilities, which are just not compatible with situation of open war. I hate the fact that I have to deal with this emotional burden, but I 100% blame it on the russians.

Never once in this thread I ever posted any call to kill anyone like that ever. I have no idea why "all russians should be held responsible for actions of their army they themselves support" is treated as "hate speech" but when somebody posts "I wish putin and all russian army died for what they do" - it's somehow not hate speech.
Just like I have no idea why I'm repeatedly being called racist whenever I'm not happy with what russians do - when russians themselves are not a race. It's not even an ethnicity. Buryats are an ethnicity. Mongols are a race.
Maybe when your compatriots (or, sometimes unfortunately) friends turn out to be dead and lacking body parts - it's just problematic to do only Love Speech and pretending it's putin personally running around frontlines and raping women - which is a very comfortable world view, I agree - but how exactly hating invaders (of all kinds) makes me "racist" - I have zero idea.
