in the instance where the post that started this particular topic occurred, the town was still in Ukrainian hands.  You can call it what you want but it is still murder.  They could very simply have arrested him, turned him over to legitimate authorities... who could then execute him.  extrajudicial killings where your authorities are still exercising control is just a bad idea.

In several of the Ghettos the Nazis let Jewish councils form. Then when it came to deportations, they made the councils write up the lists for who would go on each train load. If the councilmen didn't comply, the Nazis would put them on the list and then get a new group to do what they wanted. Or worse just grab people off the streets. Some councils, supposedly in an attempt to preserve their communities, began to collaborate and pick people they thought the community could do without. Many deluded themselves into saying that the deportations were just to another ghetto. Both of which is deluded thinking, but also what can you do? Whats the alternative, really? These things are really hard to sort out and its absolutely the case that some perpetrators of crimes can themselves be victims. When your country is invaded and your country is subjugated you do what you have to to survive and, if you can, save your family and your community. In the USSR, the line between bandits and partisans was often gossamer thin. But again what can you do when its your ass on the line?
The 'c'est la guerre' attitude feels good in the moment, and it feels good to just shoot looters. But could you judge someone whose robbing a shop because the owner left and theyre hungry, or they have people to feed? Often this kind of 'cowboy' justice doesn't do a good job differentiating. But what can you do when the court house is bombed daily? Its too complicated for us to sit in our comfy chairs and decide.

But who gets to decide who is a traitor and who isn't? Shoting marauders, while harsh, is maybe understandable, at least that is something you have to consider under martial law. I don't know the situation, just really read this one post, so maybe the mayor really just wanted to betray his people.
But remember, this happend quite often in 1945: Some mayor wanted to spare his village/city and wanted to hand it over to the allies before they bombarded it - and was shot by the Nazis as a traitor. Saying Nazis were evil but the Ukrainians are the good guys (even if while true) so in their case it is justified is a really slippery slope.

Let's make that the case. This thread is about the war in progress. It's already a massive thread

Perhaps you and @kraze might be better off staying out of that noxious swamp, or at least keeping it out of this thread.
FWIW, my Ukrainian in-laws freely admit to  Russian historical, cultural and ethnic connections, although they have no interest in Putin's (or Stalin's) version either.
That's the last I will say on this topic.

Here's another theory about why the Russian invasion seems to be a total clown show: It's being sabotaged from within.
Either some top generals are actively trying to make it fail, as a covert coup to bring down Putin.
Or the Russian military has been infiltrated by agents and/or backdoor software that makes it possible for the someone from the outside to modify orders and throw a spanner in the works, without it being immediately apparent that this is done remotely.
It could be that this is based on a spy network that has been in place for a long time but is only being activated now.

The last time I played CMRT I had a small group of soviet snipers take down 14 germans without taking a single loss.
The real question here is why are you moving them within 50m of the enemy in the middle of the woods?

Title of my book according to them the Hellcat and the Sherman had the same gun. If you state something as fact you need to give references. I don't suck mine out of my thumb.

You're like the copper comparing a .22 LR with a .223 Remington aka 5.56 mm NATO because the difference is only 0.003 inch. The 75mm KwK means Kampwagen Kanone or a dedicated tank gun. The allies either put an AT Gun  less HE performance or a Field Gun less AP performance.in their tanks not a tank gun. I am not for the petition nor against it just think of some arguments BF may use. If it is really unfair you should be able to convince BF and not me. Page 25 of the manual you can also adjust your units if you think your scenario is unbalanced. Force Adjustment - allows playing an unbalanced QB. If set to the default “no change”, both sides will have the default amount of purchase points available to buy their units with. The options allow you to give up to an extra 150% of units, or to deduct up to 60%. I understand you could increase the value of a Stug III by 210 % by increasing the points of a German unit up to 150% and decreasing allied units by 60%.

The advantage the German AFVs have over budget Shermans is significant, but it's an advantage that mainly exists at longer ranges, which are more typical of tank engagements.
If you're unhappy with the balance of your QBs, perhaps you should choose more appropriate maps for your tank battles.

It's unusual to see German high velocity round 'bouncing off' a low budget Sherman at any range. Those very basic M4s can't take much of a hit.
They may not lose their crew (a well designed tank for crew survival), but being still combat capable after a hit from a PzIV or Stug, even at range, requires pretty good luck.

1:1 is silly, make it as honest and fair like a bullfight in Spain. Attack a single tank with a platoon and attack a platoon with a company. Winning for me is not that important. Playing a tactical correct game is. Example is METT-TC the C stands for civilians we may ask it is not applicable in CM during WW2. It is! make sure your fire is directed towards identified military tactics. Shooting houses into rubble by positioning AFV's close by may set of triggers by the AI and some editors are very crafty with them.

Exactly I don't have a problem with the system. I go with historical accuracy, the Stug III was the most numerous AFV made by the Germans. For the transparency of the point system it is on BF to explain to its customers. I think the allies are attacking Germans defending. If the Germans counter attack it is done by Mark IV and Panthers. The point system could reflect this. The Stug III as it has no turret it is better employed in a defensive position.

The 190 points one has significant flaws in armour (questionable quality and multiple weakpoints) and visibility (has no cupola) and is priced appropriately. It seems kind of weird to cherry pick the worst Sherman against a "standard" PzIV as a point of argument.

I don't know about anyone else, but by the time I'm done with a moderate to large map I'm very often far too frazzled to make a scenario on it.....But I'd love to see someone else make some, while I get my mojo back.

I'd go further - isn't the whole point of the Master Maps to give people material to create QB maps and scenarios...?
Using things for their intended purpose is hardly 'parasitic.'

There's lots of fun to be had in the editor.
The first use I made of the editor was to edit CMBN QB maps. Being such an early release, a lot of them came to look a bit featureless compared to later maps, especially the rural ones, so I would add fences, bushes, footpaths, vary the ground cover and so on, just to make them prettier to play on.
Another really fun thing is to make QB maps from Master Maps. The newer titles have excellent Master Maps (CMRT/FR is my favourite for this) - and you can find interesting tactical challenges in them, and throw together a really fun QB map in less than an hour.

Its a bit ironic that people are demanding the game code be opened when so many don't bother to try the game tools that are available. If you're bored learn how to create proper AI orders sets to direct AI opponent forces in attack or defense. Learn how to build proper maps. Give the community some 3rd party scenarios set in Berlin or with Americans' backs to the Rhine, or hiding in the spa town of Baden-Baden. The game editor is 2/3rds the fun of having the game! Before you ask for 'more' first make use of what you've got.
