BS is just not worth playing it is a hypothetical game and biased US No 1 Russia No 2 Ukraine No3 and no expansion pack is planned to rectify this. Kudos for the WW2 games it is where BF shines and we really enjoy playing it. FI is the next game I will buy.

It's because Ukraine is losing and the war may be over before the end of 2024. It won't look good releasing a game about the war in Ukraine after they surrender or give up a large chunk of their territory.
I'm not pro Russia just calling it like I see it. Bring on the hate mail.

Not sure how much of an interest there will be, but I decided to share some faction mods I have made over the last month or so in case anyone wanted to use them. Not everything is completed in full, but are near a state of completion that I am happy with. I may make some tweaks/adjustments as time goes on, or if any major issues pop up.

The above drop box link contains individual downloads for the following:
    Britain
    -British Woodland DPM Uniforms
-British Mixed Uniforms (Several variants of mixed S95 Woodland/Desert DPM Uniforms)
    Canada
    -Canadian Woodland CADPAT TW Uniforms
-Canadian Mixed Uniforms (Several variants of mixed CADPAT TW/AR Uniforms)
    Netherlands
    -Dutch Woodland DPM Uniforms
    Germany
    -German Woodland Flecktarn Uniforms
    Russia
-Russian Faction ca. 2008 (or as close as I could get it) modeled after the war in Georgia. Conscript units wear mixed VSR/Flora uniforms, whereas regulars are primarily in Flora. Weapons have been visually changed in some instances, ex: AKM swapped for AK-74 model. Helmets are updated to the SSh-68.
    Iran
-Iranian Faction modeled after resource pictures I could find online. Units are wearing Iranian DPM. Load Bearing equipment is featured in a US DCU pattern that I frequently saw Iranian troops wearing online. AK family has been replaced with G3 rifles. PKM has been (mostly) replaced by the MG3. All vehicles have been painted a uniform sand/desert tan color. I was going to try and replicate some vehicle patterns I found online but I was never really satisfied with how they came out. After thinking about it, I may leave them untouched, as it paints them in a more generic light and doesn't force them to specifically be Iranian; they could be any kind of make-believe faction you can think of.
    Notes:
-Regarding the Brits, Canadians, Dutch and Germans there are two sets for each camo type (woodland/mixed): one set that is clean and one set that is dirty. That way you can pick and choose which you would prefer.
-In relation to the above, you only need to choose one of the options (Clean OR Dirty, not both) for each faction and drop that folder into your 'Z' folder to use.
-Regarding the Russians, US Army & USMC, I did not alter the vehicle colors. There are a few mods (Euroscape) that come to mind that will give the vehicles more of a European paintjob. I would download those currently to complete the overall look.
-Most folders in each download will have a section titled "PSD". These are the photoshop file types that I used while editing. If you have photoshop or a program that can accept .PSD files you can open them up and make any changes you'd like.
    Known Issues:
-Russian Faction currently does not exhibit any changes to the SF units. I have a few ideas here for what I want to do in the future but this will require some more experimentation.
-Iranian MG3's that are setup via tripod are currently sunken into the ground. Have not been able to figure this one out yet.
-Iranian G3 rifles that replace the grenadier rifles do not have an underslung grenade launcher. Pretend they're just shooting rifle grenades!
-Any instance where a weapon swap has been performed (AKM to G3 for instance) is purely cosmetic. The G3 will still use the same ammo type from whatever rifle it is replacing; equally so, the magazine sizes will also stay the same. There is nothing that can be done about this on my end.
-The Editor Logo for the Iranian Faction correctly displays the Iranian Flag button, but the text still reads "Syrian Army".
-The Editor Logo for the Russian Faction displays both the Syrian Flag and the text reads "Syrian Army".
-Some of the weapon icons in the squad overview have black backgrounds, I forgot to alpha channel these out and only just noticed today. Not game breaking by any means but I will see about fixing it up later on if/when I make further adjustments.
-The Russian faction is still currently using Arabic voices.

Huge thank you to mjkerner who, about this time last year, walked me through how to begin changing/editing the base game files. Modding has brought me just as much enjoyment as playing the game and I would not have been able to do it without him.

Again, hopefully these will be useful to someone and help mix things up a bit. That's all I have for now!

Biggest thing CM needs is a major update to the line of sight system. The LOS/Spotting system is very sophisticated but it can sometimes mess up in extremely frustrating and unrealistic ways. The things below I would personally like to see given attention:
    1) The Spotting system needs to incorporate spotting memory. If a unit or units have been spotted in an area before, the likelihood that they are found again if the sight is lost should go up VERY dramatically so long as the units dont leave the area they were spotted in. As an example, I point out the situation I discovered that units in CM cant do this as of now. In one of the CM cold war NTC scenarios, the tank battle between 2000-2500m turned into a very slow affair with tanks losing each other every time dust obscured them. Due to the range, it took some time for each side to spot each other the first time, which I can buy. But the time to spot completely reset each time a tank was unspotted, and tanks just sat there oblivious to each other starring at each other over open desert while the entire spotting process cycled through again. Sometimes tanks were never re-spotted, or it took ten turns.
2)Sometimes small bits of foliage completely hide units.
3)The smoke effect needs reworked to more accurately convey to the player the amount of dust or smoke. Very often the spotting system is calculating much worse conditions while to the player it looks like it would not obscure much of anything.
    4) A general improvement needs to be made, there are more weird spotting problems than I know how to list here.

The Second Biggest thing CM needs is for the tank infantry mechanics, especially in towns, to be looked at
-Infantry need some kind of orders set that allows for specifically ordering AT teams to fire and then move. Yes I know you can use pause and movement commands but it leaves too much to chance when firing a RPG and then running away is not exactly a complicated thing to do.
-AT guns should be re-mountable, and crew able by personnel other than their original crew. There could be penalties if the new crew isnt a trained AT crew, but other personnel should be able to operate the gun, especially against close range targets.
-AT weapons like the Bazooka should be recoverable by the rest of the squad so that the entire unit does not become helpless versus tanks if the one guy holding the RL dies.
-In General, infantry aiming at tanks need to miss their targets less when the range is extremely close. I have seen alot of ATRL shots miss at 25m and less, and the unit firing was not being suppressed or anything. The problem seems to affect the world war two titles more.
-Tanks needs to be inhibited from firing on infantry that would be well outside any known tanks ability to elevate.
-Tanks are WAY too good at spotting infantry that are behind them, in particular when buttoned up. I cant tell you how many times I have seen a tank that was completely buttoned up notice a infantry squad sneaking around behind the vehicle, and generally instantly. Yes, a TC can look backwards in a cupola, but this would be the most uncomfortable place to look especially for any length of time. It not uncommon for tanks in CM to reliably detect infantry to their six o clock virtually immediately. My suggestion would be that the probability of spotting infantry in the open to the six oclock be dramatically reduced unless there is a target arc or some specific reason the tank would be focusing their like taking fire from that direction.

Ghost of Charlemagne reacted to Pelican Pal in How to kill tank with artillery cannon?
Tl;dr: Artillery shells hitting ERA blocks don't count as hitting the tank so you can have direct hits not causing direct hit type damage.

So there are two bugs that create most of the armor - artillery problems that people bring up.

    1. Artillery will not cause damage without a direct hit1
    2. Artillery hitting ERA does not count as a direct hit in the game's logic2

Artillery doesn't always kill armor with direct hits but a direct hit will at minimum cause some pretty nasty systems damage, and as you've stated can kill tanks. Two direct hits (if I am reading his comment correctly) should pretty reliably mess up a tank. Either killing it outright or causing some pretty significant systems damage depending on the caliber of the shells being fired. However, if one or both of those shells hit the ERA block the tank would be far less damaged than it realistically should be besides driving slower.

The prevalence of ERA on certain vehicles in Black Sea likely explains why you occasionally here of weird results where a Bradley or some tank takes multiple direct hits and is still fighting capable. The ERA downgrade a direct hit to a near miss and near misses don't do damage to certain vehicle types. There is some cut off in the games logic where near misses can cause kills but I've not narrowed down where that is at.

1 Nearby hits will only cause damage to the tracks so you can get an immobilization with enough fire or large enough shell but you will never degrade/destroy any other system regardless of the number of near misses that occur. Outright kills by blast can happen to IFVs but I've not seen it occur to a tank. Tanks seem to require direct hits for a outright kill to occur.

2 If an artillery shell directly hits an ERA block the game treats it as if its a near miss strike and not a direct hit. So you could have a direct hit literally next to the gun and the only system that would be damaged would be tracks.

That it is actually a MIG-29, look at the wings and tail; most likely Ukranian. It seems that it actually fires two Anti-Air missiles, with one of them tracking the ground, unfortunetly. You can see the plane trailing smoke, it seems it was damaged and decided to launch its ordenance to reduce weight and avoid crashing

The really sorry thing is these are the people who really believe in it. They do believe they are serving a noble cause by cleansing Eastern Ukraine of people who are not "sufficiently Ukrainian". They would prefer an open war over giving up an inch of their beliefs. There's something profoundly wrong about people who think that every inch of an ideology of a kind is more important than people's lives.
No, there will be a sigh of relief in every corner of Russia if a war can be avoided this way or another. Ukraine will probably cease to exist in the current form yet it will be a catastrophe for Russia as well.
He believes if Ukraine will continue to grow stronger militarily (through NATO membership or through massive arms transfer) then a war is unavoidable sooner or later. And reading Haiduk I think he has a reason to think so. So all he wants is that Ukraine is not put over the threshold when it can venture to do what Saakashvili did in 2008. I'm far from being a Putin's fan yet to me personally it does not seem a price too high for avoiding tens of thousands deaths from both sides.
Ukraine recently closed several TV channels and banned a political party that started to acquire significant popularity. The party never cried for Putin to come their only fault was they were considered more predisposed to find SOME accommodation if it ever comes to power. Ukrainian Far Right have a clear idea of what kind of Ukraine they want and they are ready to go any length to make sure it's the only way Ukraine can ever live. They take no prisoner neither with foreign policies nor with their own populace who dare to be less ideologically pure. If need be they are ready to stage a coup and overthrow a democratically elected government.

"The analyses of biographic publications, historical studies, and archival documents show that the majority of the OUN-B and UPA leaders and a very large proportion of members collaborated with Nazi Germany, mainly in the beginning of World War II. A significant percentage of the leaders and members of these organizations served in various police formations. They assisted the Nazi occupational authorities in implementing genocidal policies towards the Jews, Ukrainians, Russians, and Poles by helping to carry out mass executions and create conditions intended for the psychical annihilation of the entire Jewish population and significant numbers of Ukrainians, Russians, and Poles"

If I had to guess, the initial focus was on ensuring maximum compatability with CM:SF1 (which had all these bugs & a few bigger ones too) and ensuring CM:SF2 was broadly functioning as intended.....Which they achieved admirably IMHO.
Hopefully it's now time to polish off the rough edges and bring the game a bit closer to the newer titles.
