  1. Given that we are on different operating systems, I'm reluctant to offer any firm suggestions: you'll be better waiting for a Windows 10 user I think. But ... FWIW, and assuming GaJ will have made both the Mac and the Windows version follow the same principles of operation, I *think* that you can set aside the potential issue of upsetting ongoing PBEM games from deleting the current version first; I would assume (!) that Windows CMH will remember / re-find those ongoing games and just carry on from where the old version was, just like the Mac version ... Indeed, on the contrary I think it's more likely that you'll have glitches from opening the new version before deleting the old one, as you may / will get duplicates of files going into and out of dropbox and game folders, as both versions of CMH try to do their thing with file transfers to and from your CMx2 titles; if so, this may well confuse your opponents (or their PCs anyway, if not them personally!) as well as giving you duplicate files. I would close the old version of CMH first (I normally leave it running permanently), then delete it, then install the new version.
  2. I'm using 1.7.6 Beta on a Mac, and it works fine for me for all the titles ... including recognising my CMFB installation, with a nice CMFB icon present
  3. CM Helper (and an alternative, Whose Turn Is It) "manage" the game files in PBEM games ... Nowadays, one uses drop box to share the game files, rather than - literally - email, despite the PBEM naming. CMH / WTII keep track of any and all of the PBEM battles you are fighting, and move your opponents' turn files in from the dropbox folder(s) to the appropriate game's incoming turns folder, and vice versa moving your turns from the game's outgoing email folder to the drop dropbox folder. CMH also alerts you if you have a new turn awaiting your go, allows you to chat with your opponent, etc. If you do PBEM, you really should use one or other of these two helpers: makes thing much MUCH easier! (I use CMH ...)
  4. Me too. I put a request for a new family for that period / location to Steve as an aside in a helpdesk ticket conversation about a (completely unrelated) issue: he was carefully unspecific, but he didn't tell me "Never!", so I'm nursing a hope that one day ...
  5. Glad you are sorted. PBEM CM games without CMH is like going back to the stone age ...
  6. I'm only guessing that that may be the problem ... What I usually do is drag the old app to the trash, place the new version in Applications, then run it. There is a CMH configuration file (appstate.txt ???) that remembers the title installations (including duplicates, IIRC) and the battles / games in progress, and so the updated version doesn't start from scratch but finds / knows of the state of the previous version. Or at least, this is how it has worked for me, deleting the old one first before running the new version. Given where you are, I'd first off try deleting both versions of the app (if you still have them both), then perhaps worth re-starting the machine (tho not sure that's strictly necessary), and then re-installing the new version again as the only one. See if that cures it? If not, find and delete the appstate.txt file and then run the new version again. Doing this bit may well mean (cannot remember since the last time I needed to do this) that you have to re-find the battles and their linked drop boxes, but that shouldn't be too much hassle hopefully ... If you run the "Show CMH log window" option, the first line of the log is the path to where that log file is stored; the appstate.txt file is in the same place. (The log file will also highlight errors it finds, which may offer different hints to the problem, if the above doesn't fix it.) Hope this helps!
  7. I'm running v1.7.6 beta on a Mac but NOT having this problem, so from that I'd guess it is something specific to you (sadly!), rather than generic to the Mac beta version ... Any more info on how / when the duplicates are happening? Did you delete the old version you were running before adding the new version to Applications and running it?
  8. Yes!! Not for me ... depending on how you define "winning", see my extract of Womble's quote below: FWIW, I much prefer playing - incl. H2H - uneven battles, where I expect either to take or to retreat from the battlefield ... and have my success or failure judged against how quickly or slowly I "won" or "lost"; how many casualties suffered / inflicted; etc. I agree with the sentiment of the OP that says "if we're fighting an even battle that either side can win, I've made a mistake in fighting it in the first place". That's not to say such battles didn't happen, but I have no problem at all fighting either side of an uneven battle, as long as "success" is measured appropriately.
  9. Sorry to hear that; here's hoping that you can restore some laminar flow soon ...
  10. Quite reassuring for you, actually: I infer that you have more of a life than I do!!
  11. FWIW, the "CMFI v300 Installer.pkg.zip" which I have saved on my system is noted as being created, modified and last opened all on 22 September 2014 ... Not at all certain that the date is exactly right for its release, but sounds about right and I recall (as usual!) getting it as soon as it came out. It applied the then-new CMRT "v3" to CMFI, and the equivalent CMRT v1.00 file is dated 5 April 2014, so it sort of fits timescale-wise. (Yep, the Mac screen does say Game Engine 3 in tiny text in the lower right hand corner ...)
  12. A link to the store to purchase the Mac "v 3.0 Upgrade" (when you get it, badged as "v 1.20, game engine 3" on the splash screen ...): http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?page=shop.cart&func=cartAdd&product_id=471&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26
  13. The tunnel exit (or is it an entrance?? ) looks neat ... but mine (on a Mac) has the deris just inside the tunnel "floating" in the air?? Not a deal breaker, but looks odd and wasn't sure if this was known / intended, or a glitch?
  14. Downloaded fine and quickly for me (in UK); looking great so far on my Mac ... Thanks Steve and all the guys at BF!
  15. There is a (free) patch to v 1.12 and a (paid for) upgrade to v1.2 (AKA "Game Engine 3", ie putting CMFI on the same "v3 engine" status as CMBN and CMRT, and now CMFB). It's so long since I installed v 1.2 that I cannot remember whether, if - when! - you buy it, you can install it straight over 1.11, or if you have to patch to v 1.12 first? Presumably the v1.2 install notes will say one way or the other; but as CMFI doesn't yet have CMBN's master installer, v1.2 *may* be old fashioned enough to need the latest previous patch (ie v1.12) before it will work?
  16. Welcome to the forum and to CMBN! Try here for mods: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/ And here for opponents and other people who like and play CM battles: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/ And when you get to PEBM battles (you'll find many people willing to get you started, I'm sure), get GaJ's Combat Mission Helper (there is also Whose Turn Is It) to manage the file handing in and out of Drop Box to exchange the files with your opponent: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jvh9sx2zla2k0eq/S6LZaVAw_7
  17. Thank you! Got it ... I was looking in the Scenario Depot III, but it is (your link ...) in the CMMODS III warehouse. Thanks
  18. Do you mind passing on to me where you found it? I'd like to have it too, I have used the search on TSDIII but cannot see it there. Thanks
  19. FWIW, I don't think this is "off topic" at all ... I tried to ask - I think - the same question quite a while back in the thread, but nobody (as far as I can tell) took me up on it, or responded. I guess I made a poor job of asking the question! I don't follow the logic of the "animations / mods" issues within the thread? A mod will change the visual appearance of what we see on the screen: but *only* that? The game is - say - dealing with a standing soldier, for LOS, combat resolution, etc; if he cowers as a result of incoming fire, morale status, etc, we see him cower, so we know what is going on (roughly). But if the on screen graphic for a standing soldier is changed to that of a cowering soldier, the game will still treat him as standing for all game purposes, even though we are seeing him as cowering. The game engine drives the graphic we see, not the other way around? Surely? So in this context, even if the visual appearance of the Hanomag occupants is changed to make them smaller / sit lower /cower etc ... the combat results won't change at all, unless and until BF also change the engine calculations to reflect the fact that the vehicle occupants are now deemed to be less likely to be hit. Or is it only me (and Ivan! If I've understood his point properly ...) to whom this makes sense??
  20. Me included! (The bold bit ...) I thought this was a really neat idea. I know one can use the editor to accomplish something similar, but being basically a lazy so and so, I was happy to have some alternative, what if, kind of battles over the same map created for me ... You cannot please all of the people, all of the time. I guess BF would just be happy if they got to please *some* of us, *some* of the time ...
  21. Juju, I'm up for helping if you still need someone: will have CMFB as soon as the download-only version is available ...
  22. This one? (Though unsure if it was around in time for Sea Lion ...)
  23. For what it's worth, my perception is different from Womble's (though also very much not a test / statistical sample): I recall having more success unbogging by changing the move order to slow and / or reverse (tactical situation permitting) compared with leaving it "as is" ... To me it makes sense, in that the vehicle crew are given the leeway, time-wise, to try and manoeuvre the vehicle carefully from its bogged state: any faster-speed order means "hurry up", and *may* result in freeing the vehicle but also *seems* more often to result in immobilisation ... But that may just be me applying what I think is more logical to give a selective viewpoint of the outcomes for me!! If you don't give it new / different orders, it will carry on trying to do whatever it was doing when it became bogged, and either free itself or not; so you can just leave it alone to get on with it, but I almost always interfere ...
