  1. Couldn't agree more about the 3rd scenario in the Road to Njimegen. The 4th scenario is well done also.
  2. I was always upset at the lack of heavy weapons included in British infantry companies. I typically assign bren detachments or 60mm mortars to a squad or two within each platoon to boost their fire power. Having started playing with the Americans first, it was my way of increasing British infantry's firepower to levels that I'd come to expect.
  3. I am looking for a little mod help here. I have noticed that a few mods such as Aris Staghound AC mod as well as Juj's Tweaked UI mods are .RAR file types. When I put these into my Z folder, they do not work. Does anyone know why there are a few mods in .RAR file format and what I can do to get these mods to work?
  4. Found them! Thanks for the info as well as the hard work on the mods.
  5. Any idea where the rest of Aris' CW vehicle mods are?
  6. Ian, I am still slightly confused. At the beginning of this thread, Fuser describes that he added both the Staghound and Stuart III CW vehicle mods to the repository (this was back in March of 2012), but the CMBN Aris Mods link you provided does not show the mods for either of these vehicles. Both vehicles, however, can be found in the CMFI Aris mods link. Can the CMFI Aris mods be used in CMBN?
  7. Mod Newb in need of assistance: I am having trouble finding some of Aris' CW vehicle mods in the repository such as the humbler mod, Sherman I, any Stug, any german halftrack, any Cromwell tank, etc. Are these modded and I am just not looking in the right place in the repository or have these not been modded yet? I am thinking it is the former because the staghound is the first vehicle mod posted to this thread. I can only find a CMFI version of it, though, and I am looking for CMBN CW. This is my first foray into mods. I love Aris' work and want to make sure that I am not missing any vehicle mods that may be out there, which I have yet to download.
  8. I like the comparison screenshot idea. What is the hypothesis here? NVidia card computer will have the better quality screenshots compared to the amd computer?
  9. Typo in the last post. I meant to say: I am surprised that you two did not agree to a rule prohibiting a turn 1 bombardment of the attacker's deployment zone
  10. I am surprised that you two did not agree to a turn 1 bombardment of the attacker's deployment zone. Does Terisias typically start the game off with a set-up zone bombardment when he plays defense?
  11. I agree with Augusto. Tree Burst are ridiculously deadly. Would a 300lb shell explode in a tree? No idea. Should trenches, bunkers, and bocage be eliminated from the blast of one of those shells? Seems to me like they should The brick house thing is puzzling as well.
  12. Man that is a cliff hanger! I agree with Ian. Hopefully your M10 will get the drop and roast up some German armor.
  13. I'm glad this DAR got updated. This is my favorite one going on currently and I was concerned it ended prematurely or something.
  14. I don't personally play that way, but I have heard of people who play real-time without pauses regardless of battle size to up the difficulty. You seem to be determined to maximize reality and I am not sure how playing real-time regardless of battle size would do that. It just makes things more difficult. Me? I take it to the next level. For every pixeltrooper I lose, I require myself to write a letter that I send to his pixelwife and pixelparents describing his heroics as well as the circumstances of his departure. I find it really keeps me patient when attacking and prevents gamey play such as sending jeep drivers or vehicle crews on "recon by death" missions. JK of course
  15. Bil, How are you targeting the rear slope area of Hill 126 for a mortar barrage?
  16. If half of the battle time has already been spent capturing the "I don't care zones" just imagine how much longer it could have taken Bil to capture those points if the HMG bunker actually could spot the infantry approaching Hill 109. I was looking forward to seeing how long the bunker/atg combo would have held up. I guess we will now see how slow Bil's attack will become once he runs into the reverse slope defenses on Hill 126. If I had to call it, Bil will win a tactical victory. I don't think a total victory will occur because of the time constraints of the battle. They should hamper Bil from snatching up all the terrain objectives, and I don't think GaJ will lose a significantly larger number of men compared to Bil.
  17. I think in this instance there are plenty of objectives.
  18. Yea, it really looks as if he is laying the artillery on thick. By your list of casulaties, it seems to be having quite an effect on your troops
  19. Hahaha wow, nice I am definitely taking a lot away from your game and attempting to apply it to my own PBEMs. I have only completed a single PBEM thus far and am in a few more, so things like this DAR (and direct experience) are helping to build my skill level. I appreciate you taking the time to provide such a detailed DAR to the community.
  20. c3k I wasn't expecting such an analytical response from you. I was expecting something more along the lines of, "let your troops rush the tank in a human wave and clog its treads with stones and bodies for the glory of the attack..." You suprised me
  21. If you look through the scenarios there is usually a little blurb off to the side during the initial description of them that will say, "best played..." and then it will describe Human american vs german AI or something like that. Sometimes, however, the description will say "best played as H2H" Those scenario maps are reliably balanced and enjoyable. Otherwise, some QB Probe maps that I've found enjoyable (keep in mind I've only completed a single H2H match thus far and am currently playing a few others) are: Probe Med Hills 260, Probe Med Hills 138, Probe Med Rough Bocage 249, Probe Med Town Damaged 115, and Probe Med Village 202. An opponent of mine took the time to sift through all the probe maps and select the ones that he deemed balanced. I'm not sure on Attack, Assault, or Meeting Engagement maps though, sorry.
