  1. Cool. Sadly it's a "sponsor only" membership.
  2. Not new to CM, but I've only played 4-5 PBEM games against one player, all CMBN. Is there a clearing house for Opponents Wanted, here or elsewhere? The only site I'm aware of is The Blitz, and my impression is that the focus there is more competitive than I think I could produce. I am interested in casual play with patient, understanding opponents. Any suggestions? (I have everything in the latest family of CM (BN, CW, MG, FI, GL and RT, I loves me my CM. I also have Dropbox for turn exchanges).
  3. Yeah, I somehow missed the ricochet sound after the hit, as well.
  4. Short clip below is from first mission, Road to Nijmegen. One of my platoon HQ is waaaaaay back from the action. Platton leader is plugged out of nowhere. Extremely unlikely that this is due to an unseen German unit. Does CMBN have random events, things that just happen out of the blue with no onboard LOS/interaction required? Or am I just not policing my rear echelon areas properly? http://youtu.be/uKPTlwOCfcI
  5. Yeah, same thing here. NIS not only didn't flag it as a virus, but gave the thumbs up to it. Incroyable!
  6. And today I learned that Jeremy Clarkson is married to the daughter of a VC recipient.
  7. You hit the nail right on the head. It's less nefarious tactics from Bil, and more sloppy map design by the map maker.
  8. If (IF) I could share one screen capture with Bil, it would definitely be this one...
  9. I've been lurking since the beginning of the AAR, but I have to break cover. The turn when the Panther had the fortune to have LOS on your PIAT team crossing the road so far away I winced, and audibly groaned. But when I saw your "ordered path vs. actual path" diagram I had one of the best laughs in a long while. Thanks.
  10. Seems it was file names. Everything is fine now, thanks for all the input!
  11. Thanks folks. I'm at a cognitive level where I can use the word "cognitive", but have trouble logging on to the BF forums! Need more sleep. I have trashed the previous game (started by my opponent) and started a new game using a prepared scenario (18 Platoon), determined a PBEM game at Elite level, chosen my side, chosen a password, and saved "18 Platoon 001", then transferred that file to the shared Dropbox folder we use. Fingers crossed it was mix-up in files somewhere, and that I don't have to go to Helpdesk! Poor guys heard enough from me last month when I couldn't run the game because of repeat crashes, and it ended up being the result of my plugging my monitor into the motherboard of my new computer, and not the $200 video card I had purchased to run CMBN. Sigh.
  12. I'll move this to the Helpdesk if necessary, but perhaps a quick answer here will clue me in. I have CMBN/CW, and am trying to start my first PBEM game. Opponent has chosen a "random meeting engagement" (I assume Quick Battle), and sent me the first file "Pauls". I moved this into my Incoming E-mail folder, began the program, clicked Saved Games, there it was. I chose it, and the next screen was asking for a new password. Entered one, the next screen instructed me to choose a save file name. I did, "Richard001", and was immediately returned to the Main Menu. Odd. Sent this to my opponent, who presumably ran his turn fine, and sent me "Ricks02". I moved this to Incoming E-Mail. When I went to Saved Games in the Main Menu it was there, and same thing happened...PW prompt, save name prompt, Main Menu. Only difference between the two events was PW prompt the first time had a Waffen SS symbol, second time it had an American Army symbol. No game play whatsoever. Is there something extremely obvious that I'm missing? Any thoughts?
