  1. I have played light tank fights too, Stuarts vs PzIIs, and the Stuarts wipe the floor with the PzII.
  2. Well now we have Russia 1944 coming out, can't say I am too excited. Would still like to see 39-40 represented as would a few players on The Blitz. I think a new era would end up in lots of sales as no one has really modeled it yet.
  3. AAA that can shoot at aircraft....WOOT!!! I would like to see more tanks for the CMBN versions, hetzers etc.

I just read the instructions again and it is from the old 2.01, not for MG so they are using old instructions with a new mod: PREVIOUS SAVE GAME COMPATIBILITY NOTE: Save games from previous versions ARE COMPATIBLE with v2.01, provided that you save your turn-based games in the COMMAND phase (not the replay phase) before upgrading to v2.01. Just caught the 2.01. Why have this for MG which is 2.10?:confused:
  5. No, that isn't what I mean. I should be able to play a 2.01 game against another 2.01 opponent on MG, AND play a 2.10 game against another 2.10 opponent on MG. But since it seems to nuke the 2.10 activation I would say "NO".
  6. That is what I am thinking PBEM. Seems a lot of people on the Blitz are having this issue and we are all PBEM.
  7. Same problem and to have to activate the game every time is a bit of a pain, especially when MG is suppose to be backward compatible. Seedorf81, are you playing AI or PBEM?
  8. Ahh, but the pre-install readme says that 2.01 games are compatible with 2.10.
  9. Same thing here, sounds like 747 engines. I am going to remove my Z folder sound mods and see if that fixes it.
  10. Can you answer this question: when updating do you do a clean install or can you drop on top of the old version? I didn't see anything on the FAQ page or readme about it and I asked on the Blitz and the guys said just back everything up in case, but no one knew for sure. If I just drop on top, will it keep all my old games or do I have to set them up again? Same question for clean install. Thanks.
  11. They were in a house which is why I said I just stumbled upon it. The tank, well he sat there an entire turn and my infantry just watched him, and then the tank drove away advancing past them and into the back of my Ktiger with a gunner doing the 'aiming, spotting, aiming, spotting, aiming, spotting' routine. So in my next turn I will bonzai my infantry out of the buildings into the open roadway to chase the tank and maybe then they will fire at him.
  12. I just stumbled upon this too. Set an ambush and my opponent parked his tank in between three squads armed with PzFst at a range of 13m. All three squads stared at the tank and didn't fire even with manual target so I came here. This limit really makes AT teams useless in city fights IMO.
  13. It isn't teething problems, it isn't something small, the patch makes CMBN TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE. I am still fighting to get my money back and I have now heard from others who are equally frustrated. One guy is pissed because he just bought 2.0 yesterday and didn't bother to read about it. Speaking of, why isn't the 2.0 taken down, why are they still selling it???? I agree, I have ETW and I am very happy when the game actually loads and doesn't CTD after 20 years of game time.
  14. Well I have now deleted 2.0 from my system. I have tried all the work around ideas mentioned here to try and get a single QB game off the ground, the only way I play BN, with absolutely no success. I have tried some AI games just to see what all the hype was about and sure enough I have all the lovely crew and deploy bugs too.
  15. You know, I was one of the ones who said "what, $10!" but this statement just made me realize how true. Just looking at my collection of purchased games and I would say 60% of them never met expectations or lived up to the hype, my most expensive disappointment being Oblivion. So yeah, I play CMBN:CW and do like it although some things frustrate me, but nothing is perfect. So I will give the BF guys my apology and admit I was a wank.
  16. Did they fix the incredibly slow AT gun limber/unlimber? I deployed an AT gun and found he was behind the house, not peaking out the side, no problem says I, just wheel the gun forward five feet. NOPE!, we have to spend 4 minutes limbering and 3 minutes unlimbering to move that five feet. So is it fixed? I see nothing in the readme about it.
  17. I am getting tired of everything being "a small charge". Just like my property taxes "it is only a small increase of 2%", yes but 2% over 10 years is 20%! And what is 2.0 adding that is so much better? Oh wait, I can have an SS soldier stand beside a FJ soldier...WOOT. Why doesn't BF offer something new instead of the same junk over and over again, 1944 West and 1941 East. Why not early western war years, something that hasn't be covered by anyone? It boils down to $10 here, $35 here and there and when all is done the will come out with CMBN V3.0, a brand new standalone game for you to buy.

  19. If you read Donald Burgettes book about is his experience in Normandy with the 101st he tells how he got wounded by an 88 some distance away firing through the bocage.
  20. But why does one unit then ID a target as a dead unit, and then someone else gets a sound contact from it? And why a sound contact, what is on the field that is making your units think something is there? In the scenario 18 platoon there are many dead trucks and tanks all to fool your platoon; you spot them and ID them as dead, move out of LOS with that unit and suddenly something is there again. I can understand the unknown when no unit has had no LOS, but once LOS is established it should stay revealed (IMO) Chris
  21. Why does the game continue to show dead units as "sound contacts", why are they not just put on the map as a dead unit? Very frustrating planning an attack on a sound contact and then executing it to find out the sound contact is a dead squad or AT gun. :confused:
  22. MGs are not suppose to be accurate, they are designed to bounce around and spray their fire to create an oval beaten zone, the film seems to miss that point with the 1919s. I have fired these MGs a ton, although the converted ones to 7.62 Nato, but none the less they do not put their rounds into a tight grouping but spread them out. If I remember correctly (it has been about 20 years now) the pattern at 300m is about 15m. Accuracy was the problem with the Bren, you could snipe with it when you want your MGs/LMGs to suppress. So I would have to say the MG34/42 did a better job if you go by the film. I liked how they gave the M3 grease gun high marks...pure rot.
