My 2nd round game was a bit strange. My opponent moved all his T-34/76s along the edge of the map board and disappeared. As soon as my King Tiger tanks showed up, all his T-34s were setup behind my King Tigers and destroyed them all. Every one.

As far as mine clearing, can a mine clearing vehicle not have detectors on the front? It can then:
1. detect a mine
2. drop a small C4 charge
3. back up several meters
4. set off the C4
5. move on to the next mine
Would this be too time consuming in an assault? It would be a mini M1150.

What hit the last vehicle to be destroyed? Was that a tank shell with the spalling coming out the other side?

An enhanced soldier with as much destructive power as a tank would be impressive but surely they really have to be cost effective against the UAVs that might kill them (see UAVs chasing Russian infantry passim). Unless our 10 Starship Troopers come in cheaper than the number of UAVs needed to defeat them then these are still losing margins.
Sounds like we need a Combat Mission: Mobile Infantry. We should test some of this conjecture!

If you launch a swarm of drones, wouldn't it make sense to include some autonomous drones that target ECM sources with HARM-like missiles? I know these missiles are pretty large for a small drone, but a new short range HARM might fit on a medium size drone.

This is why I ridiculed and derided Lockheed's tractor trailer sized $50m laser defense system. It's useless because it's $50m. If they could crank these out for $100,000 each.... well then, the $1.2b budget would produce 1200 instead of 4. That would be worth pursuing because you'd be able to have adequate coverage for a large scale conflict AND have replacement systems when, not if, they get knocked out.
Surely if we can produce an APS system that can knock down RPGs, we can produce a "bird shot" system that can knock out hovering drones and incoming kamikaze drones on the cheap (relatively speaking). Unfortunately, it may also devastate the local bird population... But maybe an AI system can help with that... Then the enemy will prolly start mounting munitions on birds to slip through the defenses... It just goes on and on.
Defensive systems have a large job ahead of them.

I think yes but it is at the upper end of what current tac UAS can carry. Can’t find exact weight of sub-munition but likely 5-10 pounds. Right now though it looks like DPICM armed drones are doing just fine.
EFP submunitions are wave of the future though. Can’t defeat it with APS or ERA
Do you think AFVs will be able to adapt to the new battlefield? It would have to be some kind of next gen tank with top armor as a priority. Really all round HEAT defeating armor. And APS systems that detect and shoot down drones (and their munitions). Gonna be a complicated battle space.

does anyone have any details on how the ground operation is going?
It is difficult getting reliable info on what's going on. I guess the IDF is pretty closed lips. The War Zone has a lot of articles concerning the war:
-
Several headliner stories from the Israeli War: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone
I thought I'd list the one link instead of the 5+ links.

Can drones not be spoofed using tarps and/or camo nets over the trench system. Seems like a cheap way to reduce casualties.

Anyone want to risk guessing how long it will take?
No idea, but if SF2 (SF3!!) had Merkava's and Namer AFVs we could simulate it. Oh, and we would probably need some more types of drones.

The only reason I'm not over there right now is that I've mostly given up on trying to keep up. I can only do so much reading in a day
I started that thread and I can't keep up with all the comments either! It is still my #1 source for Ukraine war information and analysis.

Some infrared footage of the raid last night to prepare the battlefield:

An interesting video about the Merkava. Some recent footage and some historical footage.

Another good article about the war by the ISW:

I would also like to agree with @Vacillator that the Ukrainian thread is my #1 source of information on that war, with reports and analysis beating the news media almost every time.

Power (Wattage) = Joules / Second
Capacitors have an ESR rating that effectively tells you how much current can come out of the capacitor per second.
So the laser defence system needs high capacity low ESR capacitors to power the laser (we call 'em supercapacitors).
But I'm kinda getting off topic.

A couple of days ago, Hamas claimed they ambushed and destroyed an IDF "tank". Does anyone know if it was a Merkava? I was thinking the news may have classified an APC (M113?) As a "tank".

IDF Footage Shows Strikes on Lebanon Border

@Thewood1 Please just ignore this thread if it bothers you.
The reason this thread was started in SF2 is that SF2 deals with asymmetrical warfare in the Middle East. If Battlefront ever releases an upgrade for the Israel/Gaza war, it would go here (or be a completely new game).
This thread should discuss strategy and tactics of modern asymmetrical city warfare. It should also be a place where folks can upload links to relevant combat footage. This will help in the generation of TOEs, scenarios and campaigns.
This war is history in the making and should not be overlooked. There is also the possibility that it will spill over to other regions. Battlefront may decide to simulate this war especially if it grows out of hand.
This thread is NOT a place where we discuss the politics of the region. That would lead to a quagmire and @BFCElvis would be forced to shut 'er down.

You're right. They were just regular Tigers. I had them for such a short time, I didn't notice...
