That static defence custom QB-trick sounds like a nice idea 🙂...
But as for giving the AI greater freedom to act on its own...i'm  not so sure.
If BFC could make it work...yeah that would be great but i fear that features such as you describe might be a bit more complicated...
Simply having LOS/LOF to an action square might not help the AI enough...what kind of enemy unit is comming ? where are the other enemies/friendlies ? What are they doing ? Where should the AI units regroup to ? Why  ?
There are a lot of things the AI will need to considder...not only for each induvidual unit but also as a force as a whole.
I doubt it would be able to do it...
I would prefer that BFC moved in the opposit direction and gave the scenariodesigner MORE tools to 'help' the AI...providing for better scripting...
    - more AI groups
    - more trigger options like AI group casualty level higher then, unit killed (friendly or enemy), unit spotted,  AI group ammo level below...etc,etc
    - more options for when reinforcements arrive.
    - more objective options
    - a new AI artillery programing interface that would allow the designer to specify indirect firesupport for the AI mid game among other things.

Yes...I guess that i have noticed that to some degree but i have always been under the understanding that the individual windows in buildings indeed made a difference.
The men seems to align to the windows pretty well though.
A german squad on the bottom floor with one window in what i would call 'a bunch'...

A germans squad on the second floor with multiple windows

Using a full squad on the same floor may not be all that common...Here is one squad split into two...one section on each floor.

Bottom floor has 1 window top flooor has several.

This feature/drawback has both its pros and cons imo. 😎
I used to hate this also but atleast a skilled map designer can use this fact to his advantage when designing maps to provide some very tricky challanges that would othervise not be the case...But i agree it seems weird at times not being able to target locations you ought to be able to fire at.
Today i kind of like it...and i don't like it...

Aye the campaigns are only playable as Germans versus Soviets, and is more a question of game engine limitations (SPW cannot be remounted – which borks most of Five Days playing against a German AI; and Ogledow campaign would have issues cos the Soviets would wipe out a German AI core force really easily).

In saying that pretty much all the other scenarios are designed to be played against either AI (except the SPW training and Panzergrenadiere in HKL) and were designed with that in mind. So the following will all provided a fun fight as Soviets against the German AI or a challenging fight H2H:

CMRT Tigers At Ogledow (the scenario) CMRT Heart Of The Dying Sun (want to command a massive Soviet armoured combined arms assault? Knock yersel out!) CMRT Bridgehead at Rakow (defend against German armoured attack) CMRT Cat and Mouse (sneak up and snipe German tanks) CMRT Deep Raid (command an advanced detachment from the 233rd Tank Brigade part of 5th Mechanized Corps deep into the German rear as part of the JASSY-KISHINEV offensive operation). CMRT Ill Met By Moonlight (sneak up and KO immoblised German tanks) CMRT Polosa Deistviya (Soviet Guards recce unit tasked with seizing bridge, guarded by German straggler unit, by coup de main) CMRT Panzerfgruppe Flügel (stop German panzer gruppe from breaking out) CMRT Tip Of The Spear (Soviet combined arms from 2nd Tank Army conduct counter recce against German recce elements). Hope this helps?
    Cheery!

These high points needs to be more common place...
Whenever they do happen they provide us with the best tactical wargame avaliable anywhere (for non military users) thats for sure...but they are to few and to far between...
A bit more priority on us common users from the main BFC programers would be welcomed indeed.

That is obviously a good suggestion 😎...But it might not solve the 'problem' that some of the guys around here are having, including me 😊....
It's not neccesarely MORE content that we are looking for,  eventhough that is always welcomed, but rather THE RIGHT content.
What i mean by that is that the basegames and modules for the timeframes and locations that we are intrested in is simply not avaliable. Personally i would very much like to play and design scenarios set on the eastern front WW2 during 41-43.
Other guys might favour the pacific WW2, North Africa WW2, Vietnam, Korea, Various fictional conflicts current and past, Arab - Israeli wars etc, etc...
No matter how hard we try to work in the editor we simply can't make those scenarios because those units are not avaliable. Thanks to several gifted modders around here some of these conflicts can be done to some degree but not to the regular BFC, CM2 standard that we want a love....For that to be possible we need the correct tools avaliable...Units, terrain, timeframe from a dedicated basegame, module...
I realize that it is a tall ask to expect every single forum member around here to be able to play exactelly the conflict he wants but i think it is the lack of new basegames, modules that frustrates some of the forums members somewhat...If BFC could find a way to speed up the release of these assets that would be a very good thing imo 😎
I think quite a bunch of the guys around here don't neccesarely play all the scenarios and campaigns that are avaliable...I know i don't. Some may not like big battles, some might not like small battles, some might not like urban fighting, night fighting, bad wheather fighting, some may only play WW2 and other prefer the modern games...
No doubt...There are a lot of scenarios and campaigns to play...but i don't want to play 200 scenarios...whatever...I want to play scenarios and campaigns that i find to be intresting and enjoyable...
Many of those scenarios and campaigns are currently unavaliable because of the fact that the basegames and modules required to make them simply does not exist and considdering the recent release rate of new basegames, modules they probably never will be and that makes me somewhat sad...😉
I fear that the lack of new community made scenarios might atleast partly be the result of the slow progress of the CM2 game series as well as updates to the game engine...My guess would be that many of the oldtimers have simply lost intrest in this game...the updates are to few and to far between...
Appart from some of the modding threads there really in not all that much going on on this forum any more...sadly.
I have dabbled quite a bit in the editor during the years and are fully aware of what it takes to design a scenario, map or not least a campaign.
I'm greatlful for the guys doing these things and  i do considder the products that BFC do release to be of the highest quality and i have no doubt that the guys working for BFC are working hard. 😎...
I just wish there could be more of them...espesially working on new basegames, modules, game engine updates...
When it comes to these things i'm a little bit dissapointed...It takes to long ! 😊

    Yes...i could 😎
A perfect example would be DCS world from Eagle dynamics. They are doing exactelly that and because of that have been able to expand their game world many times over. Simply by allowing 'outside' designers to help develop new maps and new flyable aircrafts.
And as it happens...DCS world is not a fantasy space invaders game.

As are pretty much every one else on this forum...That's not the problem...The problem is that we have close to nothing to buy !
The BFC release rate has been far from impressive during the last decade or so. Take WW2 eastern front for example. This is a theatre that easily could feature 8-10 basegames/modules.
The first eastern front game (CMRT) was released back in 2014 i belive. Almost 9 years ago. During these 9 years ONE additional module has been released. Currently we don't even have minor nations included in the timeframe depicted in these games.
There is a lot still left to do to come even close to cover the eastern front in CM2...A task that BFC seems to be far from capable of achiving on their own...What could possibly be wrong with exploring the possibility of recruting some 'sub contracter' that could help with improving the current release rate..?
Apart from the eastern front there are many other possible theatres of war that would fit perfectly as a CM game...Very few of these will ever be made if BFC decides to go it alone...

Allowing outsiders to help BFC with their...less than stellar...release rate of new products does not neccesarely have to mean that those outside products would be riddicolous fantasy games...
Surely BFC could demand to have a 'quality check' option before releasing any outside projects in the Comnat Mission name. Ones these outside teams considders their products ready...BFC will have a look at them and if they meet the desired standards add a simple code to the files...
Without this code these 'modules' will not be playable within the CM game engine....
Something like that ought to be possible...There are many, many possible scenarios for future modules out there and without any outside help to lend BFC a helping hand we will most certainly never see them as BFCs productivity...atleast for non-military during the last 5-8 years or something have been downright pityful...

Glubokii Boy reacted to George MC in Battle pack resources
    Hi all
I've created this post to make available some resources that may be of use to players.
I've attached the Five Days One Summer campaign flowchart - so you can see where you are going, if you wish. If you'd rather not see into the future then best not read it.
I've attached the Tigers at Ogledow campaign flowchart - again possible spoilers here so if you'd rather not know, don't look!
Also I've attached a SPW Training Missions Tactics and Lessons document. This document provides a deeper overview of the doctrine and tactics taught (and used) by German armored panzer grenadier units equipped with the Sdkfz 251 halftrack and its variants (referred to as a Schützenpanzerwagon or SPW) in the later part of the war, around 1944. Its main intent is to provide additional background to the series of scenarios and missions in the battle pack for Red Thunder, in particular the series of three SPW ‘Lesson’ series scenarios. My thanks to @domfluff who reviewed this and provided tactical insight, oh and it was his idea originally.
Five Days One Summer Wiking panzer grenadier mods - I've added a wee package of mods I used for the grenadiers in the Five Days One Summer. I basically assembled others excellent mods to create a look which is in the Wiking Mods GMc Mix . Main changes are grenadiers are in light battle rattle - no extraneous kit, crusher caps are M43s and senior officer has a 'Wiking' cuff band and a M43. My thanks to the talent and good will of Aris, @EZ (WSS Senior Officer and WSS camo uniforms), @Frenchy56 (Crusher and side caps to M43) @kohlenklau (No-gear mod - the campaign is mod tagged 'no gear') @Lucky_Strike (Senior officer peaked caps to M43s). I used Aris' Soviet tank mods, his Soviet faces and VM's summer Soviet uniforms.

    Just my two nickles:
We have a lot of talented folks on here. Why stop at campaigns/scenarios/maps?
What if they give these trustees the ability to edit TO&E, and add new models? They could make modules that BFC may not be interested in (early war, PTO, 'nam, arab/isreali etc.). This may bring new customers, who are more interested in other conflicts.
There are, already, some impressive mods, why not turn them into full fledged modules? DCS has really expanded their line-up after publishing third party modules.
Big disclaimer here: I am sure BFC knows their business better, as they've done it for decades. This is just me thinking (proverbially) aloud.

Glubokii Boy got a reaction from MOS:96B2P in C2 question
Non of the HQs provides a link to a lower level HQ it seems (try checking some other mid level HQs)...Only to HQs higher up the chain and to directly assigned units. In this situation the Werfer HQ is beneath the Schwere HQ in the chain of command...Therefor no link.
The werfer HQ is in DISTANT visual contact with one of your radio equiped HQs...That is close enough to be 'in command' (green button) but NOT close enough to recieve or transmit accurate enough information to communicate a working firesupport request.
Also...It seems that the mortars immidiate HQ needs to be the one to share the information with the mortars...That is the Werfer HQ...If i understand one of your previous posts correct you had advanced the Werfer HQ forward to be used as a spotter....That will not work...They will need to stay with the mortars...

    1. Here all higher HQ are placed behind a TALL wall way up front.

    2. As can be seen...The Werfer HQ is completally out of command with higher ups.

    3. Yet...No problem what so ever to call for firesupport...Including hearing radio comms.

    4. Target selected.
