I played most of the original. When you say you have revised the maps does that mean you've got rid of those awful zig-zag roads? If so I'll take another look.

Cheers Al.

Wow! 10 years since I did this very enjoyable DAR. Just bumping it up in case any of the current crop of players want to have a look. H

Did either side have any flamethrowers in it?

The key to calling in off map fire support promptly is to make sure you have good LOS, not only on the target but also the surrounding area. I suspect what is happening is that your HQ has LOS to the target but not to where the spotting rounds are falling, so they can't communicate that information back to the mortar guys, to correct their firing. Try moving the HQ to a better position where it has more complete LOS.

Excellent! It's always good to get new and revised campaigns to play, from a craftsman.

Hey Blesk! It's probably my fault your mortars were out of range because sadly I didn't manage to advance far enough to actually put them in range. lol

I hope you two play it again and try out the German Counterattack version as well.
We won't be playing that one again but we may try out the German counter-attack at some point but has that problem with the missing Canadian platoon HQs been sorted out in the counter-attack scenario?

What shall be played, the "Easier v2" version or the "normal" one?
If you intend to play as the Allies then you might get away with playing the harder version if you are playing against the AI but trust me, you don't want to be playing the harder version if it's H2H, unless you are very, very good!

I have seen this before in Fortress Italy but curiously only when I set up a PBEM as Allies. You should be able to just play through it by sending the file as is. He enters his password and sets up then returns the file and you enter your password and set up. Then it should play as normal with you as the second player.

Thank you Bulletpoint for being one of the only people to read the OP's post.
LOL!
BTW kb, your mortars don't have 89 shells each. It's 89 in total if you have them near to each other. One of them will have fired a spotting round reducing the 90 to 89

Four minutes doesn't sound bad in the real world, especially considering it's WW2. I think the problem is that in game terms, four minutes (or turns) feels more like four hours. If you want them to fire quicker, you could always direct fire them. I do this almost always with on-map mortars.

Thanks for sending over the new file. That appears to have done the trick! I will re-start mission 2a but I now have my mortars. Thanks again fella, for your prompt attention.
Cheers!

I think we might have discovered why I don't have the mortars. I'm playing v3 of the campaign (which I downloaded ages ago). I didn't realise there were later versions till I saw Erwin's post. I think the best thing would be if you could send me that shortcut to get me onto v6-2a, George. I only lost 8 men in the first mission, so re-starting 2a intact won't make that much difference but it will save me having to play the first mission again. I'll pm you with my email address. Thanks very much for your help!
Cheers

Thanks for looking into it George. TBH I'm more concerned about the fact that I don't have the on-map mortars, than the off-map Wespes. What's the likely explanation for that IYO? I'm running the latest version of the game and the only explanation I can think of is that they have been deleted in some way by the addition of a patch or the 4.0 upgrade. I remember something like this happening with a missing ATG in the KG Engel campaign after the addition of an upgrade and BF had to fix it and re-release the campaign. I'll try and battle through this mission. Do you remember if the on-map mortars show up in any of the later missions? If so, hopefully they will make an appearance then.
Cheers.

Just had a look - I'm assuming you are on Mission 2a?
Yep, I won the first battle and am on 2a

OK mate.

Hello George,
Thanks for making this excellent campaign! I'm 20 minutes into mission 2. It states in the briefing that I should have 2 x 81mm on map mortars and 6 x off map Wespe. I don't have either of these and I have got to the stage now where they would be immensely handy. It doesn't say they are meant to come as reinforcements. Is it possible that they may have been deleted with the 4.0 upgrades? It wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened after an upgrade....

Yep, I have everything. Do you want to pick a good map and get it set up?
I'll pm you with email addy for drop box

I'll have you a game. Prefer about company size and I'll play either side.

You may have forgotten ( I know your memory is not what it used to be) that you allegedly spent the night there after your shenanigans on the moor at Marston.

.....Talking of aggravation. Hey Warts, have you been to Ripley Castle in Yorkshire, again recently? You can still see bullet holes in the walls from the last time your rough bloody lot were up here!

You might want to make sure you have the latest patch because before that, one's troops had the nasty habit of running towards the enemy when they came under fire! On the other hand, if you don't want any replies, why bother posting?

Just downloaded the normal version. Map looks great! Thanks for sharing this.

I've just taken a look and the map in mission 1 is a vast improvement from the original. Well done and thanks for re-working it all. Will give it another go asap.
