  1. At least one person mentioned it - I'll mention it too (because frankly the OP does actually have a point): Why can't the 'balloons' have visible 'strings'? Seriously, a one (or configurable) pixel wide 'string' running down to the base of the unit? a) How hard could THAT be to implement? Also, make them configurable (like trees, on/off/stumps), ie on/off/colour/thickness, something like that? /\ \/ ! ! ! UNIT (Please forgive terrible ASCII example )
  2. I may be a doofus, but doesn't 'cover arc' do this already? 'Face' will face the hull, and 'cover arc' will rotate the turret to point in the middle of the covered arc...
  3. It's like a tiny form of quantum state! It cannot be determined until it actually gets measured Sgt. Heisenberg, reporting for duty!
  4. Thats also why I never play anything online nowdays.....waaaaaaah from the baby monitor, doh!
  5. Also, the three rules of portraying fights against Germans - there are always boatloads of them, they all seem to have zero plan or tactical sense, ie they're just mobile targets for the heroic allies, and they must be made to seem evil somehow (merely being the 'enemy' isn't enough) - witness the odd knifefight with the Jewish guy in SPR, the 'saved' guy killing his 'saviour' - unknowingly, but still...maybe I'm just seeing it the wrong way
  6. Your questions have been answered, but I have one for you - my laptop also has a (terrible) Intel integrated card - do you also get little blocks all over most text (menu's etc)? CMSF also does it with the laptop, I guess it's an engine thing... As regards area fire, I've found that it's ok if the target point snaps to an action block, since infantry deploy by block anyway, and the area fire will cover the whole block. Also, as mentioned, wall and hedges still get hit by area fire more than adequately.
  7. There are several which do model speed of sound - I'm going from memory here, but didn't one of the Silent Hunter series do it? Also ARMA, Steel Beasts (both old and new)......can't remember any more, but it's a neat touch.
  8. They worked alrighty in Steel Beasts Pro PE too, quite a heavy hitter for an IFV. Although I wouldn't try a T72 frontally, but hey
  9. I also unbogged a Puma by dismounting it's crew - they then remounted and it was able to drive away immediately. That may have just been co-incidence, maybe it would have driven away at that point anyway. But it had been spinning its wheels for a long time before that (I had not yet realised that vehicles could get bogged down, so I spent some time working out what on earth was going on first).
  10. Well, technically the vehicle would need belted ammo, and that may not be what they actually had....ie if the ammo is still in little boxes it would actually be a real pain in the ass to actually feed it to a GPMG.
  11. Having just downloaded about every vehicle skin you have in the repository, I must add my thanks and compliment you on the excellent job you've done Aris. Nice work.
  12. (Combat) mission accomplished. The modules were still licensed on my old laptop. This despite them supposedly unlicensing during the uninstall. Anyway, job done and thanks.
  13. I mentioned an idea somewhere else, just thought I'd ask again - how about an 'Advance to gain LOS/F' kind of movement order? ie, when given the unit would advance until it gained LOS/F to the targeted point? That way we can position units to cover specific points/areas without micromanaging and looking over their shoulders the whole time.
  14. Ok, some progress. Still not solved, but getting there. The old PC only had the base game still licensed. Attempting to unlicense all the other modules (after multiple uninstall/reinstalls) showed that only the base game could run, and not any modules (I have the Marines & Brit bundle, and the NATO module). Unlicensing the base game worked, and I can now run the base game on my new PC. BUT, not any of the modules - which means that they must still be licensed on my OLD laptop (new laptop works fine, all modules). Of course my old laptop is 1700km from me at the moment, so that will have to wait.... In the meantime I have unlicensed the base install from my new pc, in preparation for the attempt on my OLD laptop - now, in theory, the old laptop only has licenses for all the modules, but not the base game (since I was able to have the base game on my new PC and new laptop running together) I have absolute faith that this system has been relegated to the history books as the epic PITA that it is... Again, thanks for the helpful replies.
  15. I just want to quickly say thank you for your time and effort in posting this information, it's really appreciated. I'll be giving it all a try now.
