  1. The axis commander just said this is the biggest CM battle he has ever played and the defensive set up took him 6 hours and that the file is on the way.... Just in time for the weekend!
  2. I have 2 programs I use. Adobe Photoshop CS3 Version 10.0 and Paint.net 4.0.6 Major modding efforts need Photoshop but the above decal projects can be applied with Paint.net which is freeware.
  3. I have a long list of yard chores and other house stuff that I CANNOT do so I am relaxing and feeling inspired to do the CMRT Winter Mod. My holiday gift to the community this year. (Last year's gift was the CMFI GL "Wacht Am Rapido" Campaign.). Next year is Jelly of the month? I gotta tell you I had a breakthrough that was holding me up on that Hungarian Mod I was fiddling with. Maybe everybody else knows this but me but I now see that the "standard" appearance splits off with the ankle booters and the jackbooters. My Hungarian greatcoat always had these guys in the squad who had this odd 3D skinning with straps running down their arms. Now I renamed another set of mdr's so it solved that oddness! And I am going to really try hard to make this look better over the next week with dodging and burning and blurring to get some depth and fatness to the quilt rolls. The dang normal map generator I guess I gotta revisit and solve.... A Red Army Telogreika!
  4. So, what should we put on the kubelwagen? This is the best part! I will go look at some books and get the juices flowing. Maybe a Kharkov SS unit. Which would then require me to do the license plates over...which means I gotta go down to the dang DMV! Awww..jeez.
  5. My settings improved so the blurry plates. (They are now easily seen as vanity plates "3RD RYK"...) I tweaked the white on the wheels. I dabbed whitewash on some of the areas that needed it. Still couldn't find the fuel cap...hope we find it before we run out of fuel. I also took a moment to slap and L and an R on the fenders so I can see the configuration. I always misguess and it shows up mirrored or mirrored and reversed. Now I see how to lay the decals down so they appear correct on screen. That is what matters.
  6. It is not looking so good. Maybe I need to restart my PC for the NVIDIA settings to kick in. Oh well, some of the laundry list is stuff I need/want to do no matter what. And it isn't the list of cool stuff I want to decal onto the kubelwagen. We'll zip into our ww2 books and the internet for whatever you'd want to slap on her! The imagination is almost endless....
  7. That was an old screenshot in CMFI GL and I had adjusted my NVIDIA settings for CMFI but now I will be viewing the kubelwagen in CMRT for the winter mod so I just went and matched the settings to try and get it to look better.
  8. Here is my plan. I actually want to add some stuff to this kubelwagen I did a ways back. So, grab a stool, beer is in the fridge and I will narrate as I do it. Ask any questions you like, I will do my best to answer them. Disclaimer: I am not a professional graphics artist so be advised my method may not be the proscribed best method out there.
  9. Hey Badge, The Mod referred to is the CMRT axis troops all wearing greatcoats, gloves and some whitewashed helmets with snow terrain midnight requisitioned from CMFI GL. The flames seen are stock from CMRT.
  10. I know of at least one guy who wanted a tutorial so I will do one here for the basic modding task of putting insignia, emblems, symbols, slogans or nicknames on a vehicle... I hope somebody finds it useful and you PM me an image of what you create!
  11. Nobody seems interested by posting but maybe you are all just shy....
  12. Feeling great. Walking every day with my hounds. Getting my wind back. Should be cleared to operate a motor vehicle on 14 Dec. No lifting til 1 Feb so my sternum ossifies back together properly where they cut it open with an electric saw. Mods. You are welcome!
  13. "The deluxe edition of Combat Mission: Bulge will ship in a leather case, hand tooled by nuns from a convent outside Bastogne as well as arriving separately (while supplies last) a keg of Belgian Friar's Tripel...."
  14. This thread is about encouraging people to give it a try. It is not a promise you will be Aris overnight. It is not a fantasy that people stop you in the street for your autograph and girls throw their undies at you as a famous celebrity modder. It is about aiming for something small and developing a small skillset possibly to make mods you will keep only on your own hard drive for your own enjoyment. [mymod] Here are some examples of the type of mods that I think the novice can do with very little supervision.
  15. You don't need CMRT! Any of the Pak40's can be used for example. Grab one and get some whitewash and do a winter camo effect. Same with kubelwagens. There are several lower level modding tasks that are within the reach of the novice. Adding names/insignia/hull numbers to vehicles for example.
  16. Had to get up to go take a leak and figured I would log on for just a minute...wow, like Christmas morning to see all these nice presents. Thanks Chris! Going back to bed....
  17. I do not know when CM Bulge will release but I am taking pre-orders for my CMRT Winter Mod! I aint no MikeyD or Aris or umlaut so it is going slow but here is what I have so far for the Ost Front....I will do a few allied vehicles and a few axis vehicles and some guns. So far I have ported over the terrain, greatcoats, gloves and white helmets. All unofficial and non-endorsed. An appetizer as we await the real deal from the pro's sometime down the line....2017? Anybody that wants to contribute, please PM me.
  18. Modding is a good, low-calorie, cholesterol free hobby that doesn't harm the ozone layer.
  19. Marco2marzo has checked in by PM and will be an on foot HQ and is up against mirkem61. Snols is fighting Baneman! The battles will be ready by Sunday. Dropbox folders created and invites sent out. Passwords also sent by PM. Loose lips = Siberian Christmas.
  20. I was hoping to encourage at least a few of you out there to give modding a first try. It seems that things are fairly quiet with not many new uniforms or helmets and vehicles.... If some of you want to give it a try and produce a winter camo version of the below smaller items, it could be a good first project and wet your appetite for more. Pak 38. Pak 40. shucks...pretty much all the little guns used by Soviets and Axis. And the wheeled Maxim MG! Kubelwagen. Soviet jeep and trucks. ******************************* Use the internet and your imagination! Put some markings on it. Slogans. Divisional symbols. girlfriend's name.... Whitewashed with drips running down. paint stroke marks, blotches from an old mop they "borrowed" from a sleeping babushka.
  21. I have learned from my failures caused by over reaching! If in a few weeks we have a small decent scenario..something like my ol' favorite format of below......
