2022 Mid Year Update
markus544 replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
A few years ago, I posted that I would really like to see some Arab Israeli CM. As I recall it was mentioned that they would not go there. I would still very much like to see this conflict play out on my PC. The Valley of tears battles for the Golon Heights, T-62 vs Patton and Centurian. The battle of the Chinese Farm in the Sinai. The crossing of the Suez Canal by the Egyptian army. These were the great battles of post WW2. A proxy war of sorts. Western equipment vs Soviet equipment, which for the most part is the only real slug fest match up. Oh yes, and the saggar missiles that staggered the IDF for a time. Well maybe something will take shape, I know at least for me CMCW came out of the blue and I was elated by that release we shall see. -

So as far as mods go, it's not going to happen as far as BF is concerned. Okay that's okay. I'm not anyone who could crack anything other than an egg. I still would like to see BF do something with the middle east an the epic tank battles that took place, that all. I'm 62 years old and maybe it will never happen but one can only hope. -

So, what you're saying is they whomever will not go near the middle east battles in some kind of CM game. Well, I really did not think so some kind of blowback from whomever, I really don't get it. Charley evdo situation -

I like that idea. Me for one would really like to see CM middle east conflicts Six-day war. Yom kipper war Golan heights tank battles. I really don't get why it's never been done, except for the political ramifications. Not being a developer, just a player, but one can hope. Some of the greatest post WW2 tank engagements ever fought. Where T-55 and T-62 were fighting Pattons and Centurians. -
In WW2 or any other of the CM titles hit it with some 155 arty and that should do the trick as well, have to check that out

Quite true

Yes, but seeing the bridge go up in a ball of fire and smoke in front of advancing troops would be cool. Like the 101st AB at Son during operation Market-Garden when the Germans blew in the bridge and all manner of debris rained down.

Visit to the American cemetery in Hamm (Luxembourg)
markus544 replied to Léopold's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Very moving indeed. It's always amazed me how many our country's fighting men died overseas and never came home. The American cemetery in Tunisia is another example from the North African campaign -
Maybe this is something for engine 5 perhaps. The ability to blow a bridge, or maybe this is a bridge too far

In that particular scenario "Tankovyy Desant" with those troops on the rear deck, that MG 42 off to the left across the stream. As the units round that corner, they normally come under fire from the wooded area. A few of the troop riders get smoked. The others who jump off have spotted the MG and the T-34 can bring it under fire. I have played that one many times. I have added mortar units in the editor and blasted that area prior, just for some fun.

In CM games our commanders (WW2) seem to very vulnerable to small arms fire. It seems to me to be lopped sided. Almost always the tank commander gets picked off. Watched a you tube video not about CM in particular. What they talked about was a tank commander in allied camp operating from an open hatch during combat. Where the Soviet forces kept buttoned up. In built up urban areas I get it even with infantry in close support the tank commander makes a juicy target. But, out in the countryside? I was just wondering if the game engine is somewhat off as far as the frequency of my Wardaddy's getting smoked every time it seems to me.

markus544 replied to xIGuNDoCIx's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Yes, wild bill. I go back to the Steel Panther days. I remember his work and contributions to our type of game play. May he rest in peace God speed Bill -
As for me I would like to the Six-day war and the Yom Kipper war. Valley of tears battles long the Golan Heights. Crossing the Suez Canal and the Battles of the Chinese Farm, etc. Boat load of tanks, Centurian, T-62, T-55 old soviet armored vehicles, BTR, BRDM. IDF M-3 scout car and half-tracks. AMX-13, etc. Whole bunch of toys right there.
