  1. After some digging around on the Close Combat site I found this, with regards to scale: http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=18 The scale of CC2 maps An exact statement to the scale of CC2-maps can be found at the site http://www.3dnature.com/artag.html: "A team of 8 artists spread between Atomic Games and Microsoft produced the map images for the game Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far. ... The maps try to accurately portray segments of actual battle areas in the scale of 5 pixels per meter. Some liberties were taken with textures and colors in the interest of gameplay and clarity, but historical accuracy has been a strong driving force." I assume you'd need to download the actual map files rather than just using the screenshot though.
  2. A couple of interesting sites: http://sparkyasundevil.tripod.com/id24.html 101st Airborne Division after-action reports for Market Garden. http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/ttt07/arnhem.html U.S. Military Tactical and Technical Trends, No. 57, April 1945 - "The Arnhem Operation"
  3. I very much enjoyed all of the Battleground Europe series, but particularly the books covering the British and Commonwealth sectors of Normandy. There's lots of detail at all levels and plenty of plans, maps and photos. Highly recommended. I didn't find the books covering the American sectors to be quite as detailed or well written.
  4. As my Estimating Dept manager likes to say... "Fast, Good, Cheap... choose two."
  5. Regarding the dropping of WP smoke directly on the enemy... I've not tried that specifically, but when firing my own misdirected (poor los to target) 75mm smoke barrage, the rounds started falling right on my forming up units and then proceeded to walk all over my scattering troops. The casualties were horrendous. One squad reduced to a single man and several others decimated. Approx 30 men lost in all. Needless to say, I'm now much more carefull about getting a good line of sight to the target area and the company commander who directed this massacre has now been sent to guard my lorry park and think about what he's done.
  6. Torn trousers make this game virtually unplayable for me. Why is there no downloadable sewing kit included with the game!!!! It really makes my blood boil! Why must our trousers suffer like this? BF have dropped the ball again!!
  7. Stoex, just to be clear, you did mean the results and pics from your tests, rather than....
