  1. Chapter V: Mini-Campaign "Our Father" The Player is commanding mixed forces of the so called "Fortress Mogilev" during their last stand in the encircled city.
  2. Further short update: Progress is good. In the mid of May all the mapwork will be done and playtesting will start soon. The biggest Campaign is in final testing stage. With two campaigns I start doing the AI plans and the other campaign has 65% of its maps ready. So - instead of making the planned additional 3-4 single missions - I have added another small mini campaign of 4 single missions
  3. When I was a student around 15 years ago, many of the old veterans were in their eighties. On their x-rays, you could sometimes see dozens of small shrapnels inside the bodies.
  4. Surgeons weren‘t able to remove the shrapnel - so when we were children, it was fun to feel for the still existing swelling right on the middle of my grandfathers head, just below the hair.
  5. @Aragorn: It‘s sometimes really strange. The own existence depends on the fact, that almost 80 years ago, the shrapnel of a AA projectile in the woods of Russia hasn‘t flown 1 or 2cm deeper - so, it only cut off the roof of my grandfathers steel helmet and penetrated the bony skullcap instead of shredding his brain.
  6. He served as NCO (Schuetze 1 of MG-42) with the 129. Infantry-Division. Fuessilier-Battalion 129. First headshot on 13. December 1943 (shrapnel of own 2cm AA gun), second headshot 26.June 1944 during rearguard action. Survived the war, although sent to the Heiligenbeil-Pocket in March 1945 and died with 92 years Because of these lucky circumstances, I have the comfort to create a CM-Campaign 79 years later
  7. It is the same with this book. 80% 1939 - Spring 1944, thereafter it is sometimes difficult to recognize the details. The history of 252.ID + 24.ID + the books of Hinze + the histories of smaller units like Assaultgun-battalions in combination - then you have a aproximate picture of the situation in this area during June 1944. Not least, one of my grandfathers fought with a Fuessilier-battalion in this region where he was the second time severely wounded (headshot) on 26. June 1944. Regards Mr.X
  8. That´s right -these old books are very expensive The history of the 252.ID cost me 100 Euro I have some more of these old books about 1st ID, 3rd PzG and some reprints of 5th JD, 71st ID, 44th ID and 24th ID. 24.Infantry Divsion was the neighbour of 252. ID in June 1944.
  9. Most of these books are from the 1960´s, written in German Language. Do you search for the English Versions ? This may be even more difficult, I ´m afraid.
  10. From my library of the WWII I own the Division`s History of the 252nd ID, written by their former commander General Melzer in 1960. Was that your question Aragorn ? Regards Mr.X
  11. Thanks Aragorn map making feels sometimes like working in a factory of the 19th century, but this project will come to a successful end
  12. Short Update: This weekend, the Mapwork for the Partisan-Campaign and for the „Into Hell“-Campaign will be finished. 10 maps, a huge amount of work Next week, the „Five Bridges“-Campaign will be worked on: 1 Mastermap is finished, 5 maps are in good progress and 4 maps (mostly small ones) exist only on paper right now. May be, during the next 3-4 weeks, I will call again for some testing vomunteers Regards Mr.X
  13. @Aragorn2002: Sounds nice But no worry - I don‘t like huge Mega-battles very much. CM shines with Micro-management…so, 90% of the missions will be company sized. Regards Mr.X
  14. Short update: Work is still in good progress Today I have been able to almost finish a mastermap of 3x2,5 km of wooded and wild landscape in the region north of Witebsk. In total, there will be 35 to 36 single missions to be played through the 4 campaigns. Regards Mr.X
  15. One slogan of German „Gebirgsjaeger“: In German: „Vorangehen, wo andere aufhören“, best translated as: “Going forward, where others give up“ Regards Mr.X
  16. The pack of campaigns I create at the moment is only a very small cutout of the whole CMRT world and it alrready costs month of work. The list above should - of course - only be a kind of suggestion for what was theoretically possible for designers. To do all these things would be a project for more than one lifetime Regards Mr.X
  17. During map-making, I had to think about the wonderful possibilities to create new content for CMRT. So, I collected some theatres, which would be worth to be included in campaigns or single missions. May be, there are campaigns/missions including theese yet, but the mayority of contents (my personal feeling) is about the Berlin Battle... Here is my list - any extension is appreciated Northern Region 1. The battle of the Narwa-Bridgehead during the time frame June/July 1944 2. The battle of the so called "Tannenberg-Stellung" during the last Days of July 1944 3. The ferocious fighting of the "Kurland-Bridgehead" from October 1944 till the end of the war. 4. The battle of the East Prussian Border during October 1944...Nemmersdorf, Gumbinnen 5. The battle of the Fortress Koenigsberg from January to April 1944 6. The savage fighting for the last Axis Bridgeheads at the Baltic Sea during March 1945...for example the bridgehead Heiligenbeil 7. The defensive battles of Army Group Vistula with the battle of Danzig at the end in March 1945 8. The battles of the Axis Operation "Sonnenwende" in Pommerania during February 1945 Central Region 1. The battle of the Bridgehead Kuestrin at the Oder-Line from February to April 1945 2. The ferocious battle of the Bridgehead Altdamm in March 1945 3. The huge defensive battles near Warszaw from August to November 1944 4. The defensive battles along the front in Poland in January 1945 and the Axis Retreat to the Oder-River 5. The last defensive battles of Axis Forces in the region west of the Oder-River in Mecklenburg from April to May 1945 6. The counter attack of Army Group "Steiner" in April 1945 7. The battle of the "Halbe-Pocket" south of Berlin in April 1945 8. The Siege of Breslau from February to May 1945 9. The savage battles which took place in Czechoslovakia during the last weeks of the war 1945 10. The Battle of Bautzen in late April 1945 11. The Battle of Lauban in March 1945 South Region 1. The huge tank battles near Debreczen in September/October 1944 2. The Siege of Budapest from December to February 1944/45 3. The Axis Operation "Spring Awakening" in March 1945 4. The Battle of the "Gran-Bridgehead" in February 1945 5. The desperate retreat of Axis Forces from Hungary during March/April 1945 6. The Battle of Vienna in April 1945 7. The Battle of Szekesferhervar during Feburary 1945 8. The Operations "Konrad I-III" in January 1945 And I am sure, there are lots of more interesting regions and battles... Regards Mr.X
  18. @Aragorn: Working is in progress Soon, I will show some new impressions of the growing campaigns...plenty of Infantry fighting
  19. I have downloaded the campaign and took a short look. Very impressive It‘s a shame to see you leaving CM after releasing such a great project. But I can understand you. While I never ever have come near something like „burnout“ in real life, profession etc., during the making of huge campaigns this feeling of „burning“ comes slowly in minds. In my opinion the cause is you as the creator are not able to see the end of your work when you are sitting endless hours to fill a map sector of 200x200m with life. Putting in the flavour objects is the most dangerous part for myself, kind of a nightmare if you have to do it for a whole village or something else At the end, I think the best way to stay motivated and avoid burning out is to make (for example) Mini-Campaigns of 3-4 single missions…not too complicated and you are able to see the „end of the tunnel“. Regards Mr.X
  20. Oh, thank you nice to hear...may be, one day I make another red vs red campaign... Regards Mr.X
  21. Hi, as the designer of this campaign I would be very interested in, if this stuff is still playable with SF 2 ? Any report is very appreciated When I read that Paper Tiger is redoing his former campaigns, I thought about doing the same with the "Zawiya Uprising". At the moment I am in the middle of the work for the Red Thunder Battle Pack, but may be after about 35 single missions at the Eastfront I will need a change of environment Regards Mr.X
  22. @Phantom Captain: I recognize the location your guys are storming Skomoroszki Regards Mr.X
  23. @kohlenklau: ThanksYour assistance is very appreciated
  24. @RockinHarry: Hinze‘s book gives a good and detailed overview - in my opinion the best book about „Bagration“ from Axis point of view. It‘s part of the source I used. Additionally I was able to get much more (very detailed) information from the unit‘s history. The story line should include the main components of these period/location: = Partisan Warfare behind the front = The huge wave of the Soviet Main Assaults = The fate of most German Infantry Divisions, which weren‘t destroyed immidiately but found its units cut off and encircled and tried desperately to find a way back - sometimes only some dozens of Stragglers succeeded to reach the own lines. = The Axis early attempts to stop or at least delay the Soviet Steamroller on its way to the West. Regards Mr.X
