  1. I am following the topic "annual look at the year to come - 2023" and have seen, that the planned BattlePacks for CMBN and CMFI will probably be delayed due to the real life obligations of the creators To be honest, until recently, I wasn`t sure whether my huge project could actually be realized in the end. But to spread some optimism: NOW, I am absolutely sure I`m continually working on it and so far there are enough volunteer testers. At this point, many thanks to you without your help, it wouldn`t be possible to do this work... My very special thanks go to @Phantom Captain, @pintere and @M.Herm for your fabulous efforts and the helpful and detailed AARs and valuable suggestions !!! So what`s the next plan? As of today, a precise schedule has been set as to when the last finished campaign will begin its beta test. This date will be December 1st. From then until January 11th, I will continue to pursue my professional obligations during the final test runs. From January 12th I will be active again and will make the final improvements. From then on it will only take a short time until the release. Since we are now in a period of 3 month before the release, I have taken the liberty of opening an additional topic, where the final version of the BattlePack is described in detail and pre-orders can be made. More to come... Regards Mr.X
  2. Next call for volunteers : between 20th and 28th October, the Campaign „Five Bridges“ will be ready for its final playtesting before the release. At the moment, single parts of the campaign are running tests. The player will lead various forces, mainly from 383rd Infantry Division and 20th Panzer Division through the pocket battles around Bobruisk from 26th June to 2nd July 1944. 12 missions from tiny to large. PM me and get this one Regards Mr.X
  3. Working is going on very very well Again I need volunteers. Part II of the "Five Bridges Campaign" is almost ready for its run as Betaversion. 1x tiny mission + 1 huge mission + 1 medium/large mission. PM me Regards Mr.X
  4. And here some new impressions - today a comparison "original picture vs game" "Bobruisk Pocket" - then and now:
  5. Some news: work is going on very well Part 1 of the "Five Bridges Campaign" is running its test as betaversion and the whole campaign will start its final testrun within the next 3 weeks. Special thanks to all testers Regards Mr.X
  6. „Tiger Trail“ Campaign (17 missions) and „Into Hell“ Campaign (8 missions) are now running through their final Beta testing Big thank to the Testers But I need more volunteers Within the next 2 weeks, the first part of the „Five Bridges“ Campaign, including 4 missions (middle sized to large) will be ready for the final test run. So, pm me, if you like to play these Regards Mr.X
  7. Good news Today the Beta-version of "Into Hell" will begin to run its final testing round Some impressions: Regards Mr.X
  8. So, back @home and returning with CM-Work Sometimes, a little break from creating/testing AI-plans is very helpful to get new motivation and to avoid the „Combat-Mission Designer‘s Burnout“ - a serious mental disease, well known to everyone who ever has created a Campaign Regards Mr.X
  9. Short update: There are two news - one bad and one good The bad one: due to an unexpected vacation, I had to stop my work since last week... The good one: When I´m back home on 13th September, I will continue with work powerfully As I told before, it is a huge amount of things to do AND I want to have a product with quality - so, I have to adjust the release date for a (hopefully) last time: With the experience of the last months, I am almost sure, that the BattlePack will be released as a Christmas gift Regards Mr.X
  10. @kohlenklau: In 2044 I will be 64…may be, then as a pensioner and CM creator I will really go full throttle Regards Mr.X
  11. Short update: Work is going on well In 2-3 weeks, the Beta-Version of the Campaign „Into Hell“ will be ready for the final test run. It will consist of 8 single missions (from tiny to huge). So, if there is anybody who likes to play the campaign before the official release, pm me Regards Mr.X
  12. @M.H.: Before the Germans occupied the City with heavy street fighting in July 1941, it had about 100000 residents - in June 1944 it was an accumulation of ruins with German supply bases, workshops and POW camps, while there were almost non of the former residents left. Remains of German 12th ID, 31st ID and „Feldherrnhalle“Division (on their retreat from the broken frontline 40km east of Mogilev) were forced to try to defend the so called „Fortess“ from 27th till 29th June and were encircled soon by Soviet Units from North and South which had crossed the Dnjepr-River against weak resistance before. The dramatic hours from the evening of 27th June to the final stand will be the theme of this campaign. Regards Mr.X
  13. Some new impressions from the Campaign "Our Father":
  14. Just in time for the anniversary of „Operation Bagration“ here comes a short update for the WIP: @Phantom Captain is still fighting bravely through the „Tiger-Trail“ Campaign and until now it seems as if the missions work fine The „Into Hell“Campaign also runs playtesting. “Five Bridges“ and „Partisans Land“ will start with further test rounds soon. For the „Our Father“ Campaign I am creating 4 maps of the town of Mogilew, based on historical maps/pictures - what proves to be more time consuming than expected because most of the city lay in ruins So, what‘s the next step? In 3-4 weeks I will need a playtester for a special and huge Mission which is a defense action against a main Soviet Breakthrough Attempt on 22nd June 1944. That for now. More news to come. Regards Mr.X
  15. @George MC: Honour to whom honour is due Wish, you would resuscitate such a great thing like „Blowtorch“
  16. Great video You bring the potential of Combat Mission to shine. Since the days of „Blowtorch-Scenarios“ you have inspired me Regards Mr.X
  17. Don‘t worry. 90% of the time, I invest in this project, I get paid Otherwise I wouldn‘t be able to make it. Regards Mr.X
  18. @Bearstronaut: Indeed, I have asked BF, if there was the possibility to give support without any financial interest. The result was: no reaction - but this is ok At the moment, this Pack is like a start up = good potential with no finished product. So, now it is my turn to provide a finished product of high quality Regards Mr.X
  19. Short update about WIP: While creating AI plans for further 24 single missions, it is the first time I am able to estimate the probable date of release for this BattlePack: it will be at the end of September 5 Campaigns with 40 single missions on 33 different maps. Special thanks goes to @Phantom Captain who is fighting his way through the Beta-Version of TigerTrail Regards Mr.X
  20. Ask the guys who are searching for the corpses of WWII fallen soldiers They go crazy because of the German Dog tags. In order to increase the confusion, you will only find the number of the former training-unit, these soldiers had belonged to, before sent to the front-unit.
  21. During the 16 (or 17) missions of "Tiger Trail", the player will command parts of the 9th (heavy) Company of the Division's Tank-Regiment, which are attached to several divisional units. So, no classic core-units. The "Five Bridges" Campaign is divided into three chapters. Player will represent an officer of 383.ID, ordered with different tasks. First, the player will command a full strenghed Fuessilier-Batallion during the fightings in the pocket east of the Beresina, trying to escape to the (almost encircled) city of Bobruisk. Second, the player will command parts of the ad hoc forces, leading the breakout of the Bobruisk Pocket west of the Beresina. Third, the player will command completely mixed and shattered units on their desperate way to the positions of the German Rescue Forces. The "Into Hell" Campaign will see (as said above) initially full strenghed core forces. During the two other (Mini)Campaigns, the player will command a mix of very different units without the necessarity of core units. Thats it Regards Mr.X
  22. As Artkin said: Germans used the number of personal for classification. There were "weak" batallions with low number of personal or average batallions or strong batallions with full personal strengh. I think, quality of personal did not play a role for this classification. 252.ID in June 1944 consisted of 3 Grenadier-Regiments, each with 2 batallions. Additionally there was a Fuessilier-Batallion - so you get 7 in total.
  23. Indeed, during the research, all the German Infantry Divisions of Army Group Centre, I studied had almost 100% personal strengh in June 1944 - according to the structure for ID 1944. Nonetheless there were huge problems. As an example: 252.ID had 3 strong + 4 average Grenadier-Batallions in June 1944. Additionally a Pio-Batallion and a Training-Batallion. Division had to hold a frontline of approximately 35 km length (!) - so, one single batallion was responsible for a sector of 4-5 km length (!) The divisional Artillery Regiment had in total 44 guns. There was a huge lack of ammunition supply, so only 3-5 shots per day for every gun were allowed. Division had in total 21 AT-Guns, only few were SPGs. Eqipement of Infantry was often poor - so, the common MG was still the MG-34 for example. Additionally there was a serious lack of infantry AT-weapons like Panzerschreck and Panzerfausts. Except for few weak platoons there were no reserves behind the frontlines. And, not least - the few supply routes suffered under continous partisan activities.
