  1. The engineer is sitting on a level 10 city, it is full strength and has a supply of ten. The country in question is still neutral and its raining. I don't know if weather matters or not. There is no nearby HQ though, but I don't know if that matters. I let the next turn go by, but the engineer's status is still the same. Should I try moving it to another city or move an HQ next to it? thanks!
  2. How do you use engineers to build fortifications in Storm Over Europe? I found the 'Fortify' option under Set Mode by right clicking the engineer unit, but the option is greyed out. The unit was built last turn, but hasn't moved yet this turn. It is also raining. How to get the fortification option active ? thanks
  3. I'm playing a PBEM game of 1939 Storm over Europe as the Axis in august of 1941. France has fallen, the Axis has conquered Yugoslavia, and has almost conquered Greece. Now I have invaded Turkey (to plan to eventually invade Russia from the Caucasus.) Strangely though, Russia has immediately joined the Allies and has gotten a huge morale boost from 'the liberation of France'!?!? I would not have thought that an Axis invasion of Turkey would have triggered Stalin to declare war on Germany, especially since Turkey and Russia are traditional adversaries. So is this event bugged? Thanks!
  4. I'm playing as the Allies in a SCGC campaign game. I've moved the Eighth Air Force to Britain, but for some reason, the bomber won't strategic bomb into the continent like the British bombers will. Their properties are the same and I can't see any difference between the units. So why will the British bomber bomb and the US one won't? Thanks!
  5. In SCGC Gold, I can't seem to get the function of attaching or detaching units from HQs to work right. When I click on an HQ, it does show it's attached units in green, but how do you get to the dropdown menu for each unit to attack or detach it? thanks!
  6. Love reading this AAR! Thanks especially for the pics of the campaign! This is making me want to try this scenario!
  7. Another question. In a game, I have reached Infantry level 2 which is the maximum value, but it looks like I still have an active chit (white not grey) trying to research. Is this chit 'stuck' there and while it is, will it count against my research limits? Thanks!
  8. I like all of them! The only problem is finding time to play them all!
  9. I would like to try a pbem game. I am new to SC games, but have long wargame experience. I'd like to play either WWI Battlefront or Global Conflict WW2, any side. I have a busy schedule, but can do a turn every other day. email: seorasgloine@gmail.com George
  10. I see. So the max research limit represents the maximum research capacity of a country at any one time, not the total research points invested for the whole scenario. So for example, the US can do more research at one time than China. Another question. If you don't invest in anything at all in a category, there would still be a small chance to gain a research level? For example, if Russia never invests in Advanced Subs, they still could get an advancement? thanks!
  11. That's very surprising because there seems to be so many things that a country can research and so many levels of research to achieve. As an example, in the 1939 World at War scenario: for the UK I researched Industrial Tech & Anti-Sub warfare; for the USSR I researched Production Tech; & for China I researched Infantry Warfare. But I've already reached the maximum limits of research for each of them. So I can't research anything else for the remainder of the war? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks!
  12. This has been very helpful for a newbie like me! Thanks very much!
  13. another newbie question: Once the maximum allowable research limit is reached for a country, it can't invest research any more. I presume that limit is raised at some point? Is this a random calculation or is it preset by scenario? thanks!
  14. Newbie questions about the Combat Information Bar, as I can't seem to find the answers from the instruction manual. 1) The top bar is projected combat losses, but am not sure what the symbols mean. For example, what does the tank symbol & wavy lines mean? 2) The middle bar has +/- percentages, but am not sure what they mean. For example when it says "+25% (-50%)", what does that mean? 3) The bottom bar is attack & defense type or attack power? For example when it says "SA=3, SA=2(+2DB)", what exactly does that mean? thanks so much! (great game though, the best strategic game on WW2 that I can find!)

  16. Hello all! I am a newbie player to Global Conflict Gold. With a game of this size & complexity, its easy to miss something in a turn. I usually check research options first, then diplomacy, then add unit replacements, then do naval move & combat, then lastly land combat. Anything I may be missing? What is a good sequence of going through a turn to make sure you are complete? thanks!
  17. Strategic Command Global Conflict is a very good game. It fills a role in the strategic WW2 games between 'Axis & Allies' and the massive micro-management WW2 games. I've enjoyed this game very much as it is fun to play with just enough detail to give depth but not overwhelming with boring details. I've already spent many hours playing it. Are there any strategy articles that have been written about this game? [an aside note: Some newer anti-virus programs may 'think' that the demo & game have a 'virus' {like mine}, but some newer anti-virus programs give out 'false positives' and can be turned off. The game then works just fine. ] Thanks much to the designers for making a very good game.
